The staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely loved my garlic prawns and enjoyed my mains of various seafood. Cooked beautifully. The ocean view was great and the restaurant decor was enviting. Great evening. Good choice of wines. Expensive but great place for a special night or occasion.

What a lovely experience
My husband and I have always wanted to come here and we glad we did
We went there for lunch today for our wedding anniversary and had the seafood platter for two and it was amazing.
The girls who survived us where so lovely and friendly
They also gave us a complementary anniversary chocolate mousse.
Thank you

I am giving Sammy's 4.5 stars. They were so close to a perfect 5. The staff were amazing. My wife was in wheel chair, and they were not only accommodating, but assisted with folding the feet steps out the way, and storing the chair for us. That attention to detail was carried through by the staff for the whole evening. We ordered oysters to start, which were so fresh and delicious, but this is where Sammy's lose their half star. The oysters were shucked a bit carelessly, as evidenced by the damaged shells, and we both had shell fragments in a few of our oysters.
Moving on to mains, and we both had the "Sammy's Choice". Wow! I ordered the battered whiting and my wife ordered hers crumbed. When they arrived, we swapped so we both had a piece of each (there are two pieces per serve). The whiting was very fresh and cooked perfectly, as were the prawn skewers and the calamari. Neither of us could finish our meals, as there was so much!
Sammy's is not what I would call a family restaurant necessarily, as it is on the expensive side, but for a couple looking for nice experience with great fresh seafood to match, I highly recommend it. Next time we have a weekend getaway down at Glenelg, we will return for sure! Highly recommended.

Food was okay but a bit expensive for what it is to be honest, I feel I would have found the same standard at a pub bistro or a cafe, if not better. The venue is quite classy though squashy, too many ppl in a small place creates excessive noise which is just not relaxing. I think the price is covering the rent/location rather than the standard of the meal itself.
My recommendation to the restaurant is they raise the standard of the cheaper meals. Obviously the crayfish and oysters looked quite nice but feeding a family of five, those options were not available to us.
I found the fish and chips quite oily, the calamari either frozen or soaked in milk, which gives it that odd taste, ive caught plenty of squid in my life to know what fresh does taste like, also no complimentary bread/rolls was offered which seems quite standard at the price and expensive cocktails were served in extremely small glasses.
I would hope to see them make some improvements and not just rely on the location for their custom.
I will say the service was pretty good and it was very clean.

Lovely outlook, dolphins in the marina and twinkling lights. Slightly disappointed to receive over cooked scallops. Menu extensive, drinks list good

Everything about our visit to Sammy's was lovely - the food, the atmosphere, the views, the special birthday message with my husband's dessert and our sweet and friendly waitress ASH

For the quality of food and service provided, Sammys on the Marina is heavily overpriced and overhyped. Sadly on the day we visited service was severely lacking - long wait for entrees and staff forgetting to come back to our table when we asked for an update or for sharing plates etc. We ordered the oysters, crab, and muscles. While the oysters were nice (served natural), there was essentially no meat within the crab shells we received, which happens when crab is frozen for a considerable amount of time. Considering it's crabbing season and this is a highly rated, highly priced seafood restaurant on the waterfront, I have no idea why they would be using frozen crab. The muscles we received had absolutely no flavour, and the 'fresh bread' which it was supposed to be served with was a hamburger bun cut in half and toasted. For the price of the dishes, the entire experience from service to food was extremely disappointing and we will definitely not be returning. I can appreciate this is a tough time for the hospitality industry and they may be understaffed and overwhelmed, but for the prices this is simply not ok. Until there has been some major revision by management, I would advise others not to waste their money here.

This is our second time dining in this restaurant.

The first time was in Dec 2021 and we were blown away by the food and service. We were so excited that we wanted to book in for the next dining experience with friends as soon as we can.

And we did. We invited more friends whom we thought would rave as much as we did.

Unfortunately, it was a let down for all of us. Our dining experience on 3 Jan, 7pm,  was so far off from our first.

For one, we weren’t advised beforehand that the kitchen was a bit behind. It was only when we called someone to our table that we were told they wouldn’t take our orders yet and had to wait a bit longer.

That should be fine but we weren’t offered anything complimentary while waiting. Instead, we were asked if we wanted to order some sourdough bread for an extra charge.

Then when our order of two SA Platters arrived, we were missing the salads (both the kohlrabi and apple slaw). We again had to ask but was only given two small bowls of cucumber and tomato salad. When we enquired, about them, we were informed that they had ran out of the two salads mentioned on the menu. We weren’t given any alternatives or complimentary nothing and we even had to point out that there should be more salad in place of the missing items.

The food was not terrible and was still as good as the last time. But for the price we had to pay including additional 10% holiday surcharge, we expected more especially with the service and care.

I guess it really makes a difference when you know that you are being “served”.

As they say, food tastes even better with good service. The first time, we had amazing food and service but this time around was really, really underwhelming. For the price we had to pay, the service really needs to at least be consistent for the food to be better and be worth the price.

Two stars is more than generous for that night's experience.

Service was poor, though staff quickly sorted out what was missing so that we could eat our seafood dishes.

The restaurant is in a lovely location, but we were positively underwhelmed by the food and service. Firstly the kids meals came so early that by the time our meals came the kids were well and truly finished…granted perhaps we should have asked for the kids meal to come at the same time as ours. I ordered the marinara which was tasty but they provided no utensils to finish off the crab. But what was really disappointing was the service. There was clearly no waiter allocated to the table so we had to constantly look for someone to get service. In the end we cancelled our last round of drinks as we just got tired of waiting.

Great customer service, especially from Carmen! We came here as a family for New Years Eve dinner and treated ourselves to a beautiful seafood platter and it was perfect. We look forward to visiting again next time we are in Adelaide.

Very disappointed. Booked ahead and table was not set when we arrived but sat us down to empty table and waited half an hr for 8.90 bread that only had 2 rolls for 4 of us. They didn't ask how many serves we wanted nor provided bread knives or plates. Ordered the delux platter $390. Took 1hr and a half to come and only asked for drinks once.jad to ask for plates and napkins. Was told platter came with 3 lobster halves but only cane with 2. Prawns smelt off and flesh was guey after shelled. Crab had little meat and texture was like they'd been frozen. I know this because i am a seasoned crabber and have frozen them myself. Barra was dry and cooked to a crisp. Little edible flesh. It was like a seafood cracker. Waitress tried to take plates away while my daughter still had lobster leg in her hand. Left hungry, thirsty, disappointed and $444 poorer. I will never dine here again. Im a single parent mum who thought to treat my 3 teenagers to fine dining before they fly the coop and too embarrassed to dine with mum. It was me who was embarrased.
