Salvos Stores Mount Barker reviews
31Clearly management are not reading the review. My experience is much the same. Waaaaay over priced for a charity op shop. Those less fortunate rely on these charity store for their goods and when you’re charging $25+ for second hand branded clothes you’re just taking advantage. Thumbs down. I won’t be donating my second hand items here.
Prices are super expensive and the staff are very rude. They justify their prices by saying its an antique. So disappointed that an organisation that is supposed to help the less fortunate charge so much for their second hand items. I ended up purchasing the items i needed at a retail store brand new for cheaper. Never shopping or donating to them ever again.
Is this a charity shop or an antique dealer? Selling old furniture for prices around $500 is ridiculous for a charity shop.
This stuff is donated! Get a real
Used to love shopping at the salvos, I won't come here again. The pricing is ridiculous! I'll be voting with my feet and supporting other stores that help support the community of strugglers not their own profit margins!
Absolutely shocked by the exorbitant prices. We used to make special trips to Mt Barker just to visit this Salvos.never again. $18 for a torn head-scarf. $3500 for a used chair. New goods are more affordable. Don't know what went wrong at this store but it seemed to miss the brief on the ethos of the Salvation Army.
So unbelievably unfairly priced. Second hand shoes and clothes priced at retail price. Just a waste of time.
One of the neatest second-hand stores I've come across. It's huge and well stocked. Prices are somewhat on the high side for used goods, though they are well presented.
There used clothing is now dearer than Kmart and Lowe's. Name brand around $65. They have lost touch with the strugglers.
The prices in this store are outrageous.
Aside from damaged goods such as perished shoes, shirts and pants with broken seams+holes and moth hole jumpers being sold for prices no lower then 2 digits.
I also came across a huge amount of items from fast fashion brands (I have direct examples from these brands: zaful, shien cotton on, glassons) that were priced significantly higher then their retail price.
What is going on here? Even if this is no longer operating as a charity store, these prices are higher then the majority of good quality CURATED vintage shops.
Instead of the employees pricing things as though they are “totally in the know” of what the “new” “hip” fashions are, take a step back and look at the colossal mounds of clothing within your store and then consider; that amount this isn’t even close to the amount of donated clothing that has to go to landfill because our stores are over run with donations.
You all need to come back down to earth.
It should never EVER be cheaper to shop brand new.
Great place huge assortment of items from beds, mattresses, clothing shoes etc. Lovely and clean great staff will definitely go back
A very clean, well stocked store but extremely expensive! Found quite a lot that was priced higher than new. Very disappointing.
Girl didn't wrap my china, so I tried to protect it with a t/shirt but it smashed to the floor.she should of wrapped it.
Umm whats with the prices. Isnt this for people who can't afford much. Surely this can't be called an opportunity shop.
The most expensive second hand shop I've ever been to. Absolutely appalled.
$25 for a second hand item that cost $30 new? ! $20 for something that is $10 new? !
These people should be ashamed. And no, cost of living has not gone up that much. On top of that, they want volunteers.
Greedy greedy, all about money now.
Very frustrating to shop with all the clothes colour coordinated and not organised by size. Prices are okay. I have been served by Teagan twice, incredibly rude on both occasions.
Ridiculous overpriced stuff and inconsistent. The country has excessive second hand supply - but stuff stays on the shelves because these places are greedy. Lower the price - sell more = more profit.
Your not a RETAIL STORE!
Your an OP SHOP where everything has been donated FREE!
Your prices are way TOO HIGH!
New Premises. Higher Rent!?
.
Ever since they moved into the new location it’s been a nightmare. This is a second hand charity shop, not a resell joint! Why is everything so overpriced? Jackets for $35? Brand new prices on everything! Found a nightie at Kmart for $1… $10 at this salvos! X10 a brand new price! No bleeping way! Loyal salvos shopper but wouldn’t return to this location! Money hungry and over stacked racks!
The layout of the Store good i have no issues with that but I wish all the Salvos stores learn not to overload there clothes racks it makes them too top heavy and also become a safety issue for customers and volunteers. It supose to be a second hand op-shop that helps the needy not a multi million dollar business that is Money hungry. The pricing it's absolutely ridiculous and overpriced.
I didn't take my phone into this store. The only way of getting my details was to miss use my Covid login details. I wonder if the stores are allowed to collect this information for advertising use. I may have to start giving false information at login. That will certainly help won't it.
