My second time staying here and loving it. Beautiful view from the room, cheap prices, dog friendly and warm staff. It’s 15 minutes from the beach and less than 5 mins from every winery I’ve been interested to visit- perfect. Last time we walked to some wineries which was also so nice and rare! Highly recommend!

We had the most enjoyable afternoon at Red Poles on Saturday.
We arrived without a booking, and we had our little dog with us.
We were welcomed to sit undercover in a warm area, with our puppy, this we appreciated very much.
The service, food and wine were fantastic. The girls who served us were very attentive just lovely.
Highly recommended Red Poles

We came to Red Poles for Mothers Day 2023, we had been here before about 3 years ago and loved it! Very friendly staff, wonderful menu and they had it all worked out! Perfect timings between meals, live music, nice grounds to walk around with our daughter and a very relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for a lovely day! We will be back!

Had a lovely time here, had the 5 course feed me menu and was blown away by the quality and creativity of all the dishes. Appreciate how protein focused the dishes were, felt like a good amount of food but not just empty carbs. Would definitely come here again.

An absolute delightful place operated by lovely people who really “get” hospitality! We had a family lunch for 25 people, organised on short notice; the food was great, the service superb and the wine list reasonably priced with good variety. Highly recommended.

The long lunch was absolutely wonderful, I'm now a convert to sashimi which was beautiful, as was everything else we ate. We ended up staying the night in their accommodation and whilst it isn't the Hilton, we loved it's rustic appeal, comfy bed and delicious breakfast, so then had another delicious lunch the next day. The food is the best we have had in the region and the open pretty environment, friendly staff (especially Kat) and the owner all added to our experience. Highly recommend and we will return.

Unfortunately this is the second time we have had a bad experience. We decided to give it another try because everyone can have a bad day. We won't be going back!

Right in the middle of winter- cold and periods of rain. It would have been easy to stay home but we were so glad we didn’t.
Red Poles is a real Gem. Fires burning, heaters turned on with cafe blinds down around the verandah. The live music gave a real ambience, the food was spot on and the service staff were very efficient and friendly.
If you are in the Mclaren Vale region do yourselves a favor and make sure you visit them.

We have eaten here previously and loved it so thought we would try it again but sorry it will be the last time we do. Only us plus one other couple in the restaurant for lunch so perhaps this should have warned us not to expect the previous experience especially as it was a Friday.
It started with the entrees served on cold plates that unfortunately chilled the food to a luke warm temperature at best. We thought this might have been a simple oversight however when the mains again were served luke warm it appeared that this was the usual serving temperature. To have beef cheek and eye fillet served this way was really a major let down on what was otherwise a great meal for flavour and presentation.it sadly went from a 10/10 to a lowly 4/10 due to the lack of temperature. The tagliatelle although served warmer than the other plates, consisted only of half a handful of tagliatelle in a broth with muscles but nothing else. This unfortunately reduced it to the consistency of a soup when the shells were removed in the absence of no additional vegetables or other things to the pasta and muscles.
There was a delay in the mains being served and we thought it may have been sitting awaiting service however even then it should have been kept under heat lights to maintain the temperature. After reading the recent reviews it seems sadly this is becoming the new 'norm' for this restaurant and the meals are really lacking in temperature and taste considering their price point and the competition in close locality to them.
We would though like to acknowledge the wonderful wait staff member, she was very attentive and presented a great public facing appearance for the restaurant. Well done.

My husband and I booked for lunch on the Sunday of the recent long weekend. A rare occasion to have a nice meal without the kids. We were very disappointed with our dining experience and wish we hadn't wasted our time or money. We don't have exceptionally high expectations but we do expect efficient and knowledgeable service and value for money. On this day, Red Poles delivered neither. Our first drinks took 30 mins to arrive. We checked on our mains at 45 mins after ordering and were told 5 mins but it actually took 15. No bread or anything else was offered during this time. The mains were very small, particularly the duck which was two thin slices of breast meat and a tablespoon of mash. We were also served a small bowl of roast brussel sprouts as a side. Not to everyone's taste and no consolation for the lack of meat. After mains we were informed one of our desserts was not available and had to choose one of the other two options on the menu. We both had the "brulee" which was both formless, small and lacking flavour. When I went to settle the bill I gave the owner/manager polite and measured feedback on our experience. This was her opportunity to offer a discount but she proceeded to charge me the full amount. Based on the other low star reviews over the past month it seems there are some serious problems that need addressing for both front of house and the kitchen. We won't be back.

The Chicken wasn’t cooked properly and they had taken took over 1 hour to bring the food out, with this the pricing didn’t need to be that high considering the quality of the food wasn’t even good
