Pure Coffin Bay Oysters & Farm Tours reviews
47Great tour, the tour guides were excellent with great knowledge. Definitely a must do in coffin bay.
Wasn't worth the money! We chose the Short & Sweet Tour and didn't find it as special as we had hoped. The boat trip lasted only a short time and then we were told some information. The guide spoke unclearly and quickly, so we received little information. In addition, we were not able to practice opening the oysters ourselves, which we had expected, based on the text of the website. Unfortunately we did not see any dolphins or sea lions as referred to in the other reviews.
We drove 750 km from Adelaide jus to see this amazing location. The tour, the boat and the staff were amazing. The tour was informative, 3 hours long and the oysters were magic. We saw Dolphins and seals as a bonus and the boat was nice and small. Only 12 of us, a very loooonnngggg drive, just so so worth it. 5 stars all the way. Thanks Linda for the great communication in booking too.
A worthwhile experience for anyone in the area
1. You get taken out in a fully enclosed boat,
2. A tour of the oyster farms through crystal clear water (about 20 mins from the wharf)
3. Wading experience with waders provided,
4. A history and tour guide of the bay,
5. A dozen freshly shucked oysters,
6. Fully licensed bar onboard with toilets,
7. A mini wildlife tour (we saw sea lions and a few seals).
The Short & Sweet Tour was just as the name suggests! Perfect amount of time out on the water and absolutely delicious Coffin Bay Oysters that had been harvested that morning!
Such an awesome experience, Our tour leader was so knowledgeable and engaging. The oysters we ate were fresh from the ocean and the best I have ever tasted. A must do if your visiting the Eyre Peninsula.
While we enjoyed our tour, there were many shortcomings. We toured a "new" Oyster lease, which simply means the infrastructure was there, but no Oysters. Blaming tide, when you operate tours almost daily, doesn't cut it, as if you're out there that often, or been doing it that long, then there would be leases, with Oysters, that we should have been able to access. The Oysters provided were not picked off a lease fresh as expected, they were already on the boat. They were also, I believe, seconds, as they were very small. This was our 6th dozen, since arriving in Coffin Bay, and by far the least in quality. My wife has had a reaction, (gastro), ever since getting off the boat. We also didn't get the opportunity to shuck the Oysters, which is strange, considering that is what the tour is about. The information given about Coffin Bay, and it's history, was very detailed, and very good. It was also very enjoyable seeing the Dolphins, as well as the Sea Lions. All in all, would we do it again, or do we think it was value for money, no.
We were both disappointed.
Wonderful trip with very professional guides.
Good weather and most important thing is the great oyster that they provide.
Very detailed explanation on the history of coffin bay.
Get to go to the farm itself and understand more about this industry
Really worth to go
Great experience
Scott was a wealth of knowledge and along with Leafiya? Took great care of us.
Highly recommended
The team on the 90 minute cruise made us very comfortable. The information given was great and the kids very much enjoyed the skipper answering all their fishing questions. Would highly recommend to anyone considering
We found the advertising misleading. Booked the short and sweet tour. The email confirmation showed the beautiful pictures of the crystal water and said to bring swimmers so we were expecting to be walking through the oyster beds in the marketing material.
The short and sweet tour goes a short way out in the bay and you do not leave the boat! Once the boat is parked up, the guide gives a talk, then you eat the oysters.
Had we known, we would have been more than happy to pay for the full tour.
The boat was full, so we decided to sit out on the front. There were a lot of bored toddlers on the tour who couldn't sit quietly through the talk, so the parents all took them outside to where we were sitting - meaning we couldn't hear half of the information!
Information by Chris was excellent.
Small boat
Oysters were a little small
BYO water and jacket as it got windy
Very informative tour with a dozen fresh oysters included. Walked amongst the oysters and saw a number of seals on a rocky island on the way back.
Went there with several friends. The tour was great! Staff are friendly, approachable and helpful. The ride on the boat was beautiful! We had a 3year old on board, my friend had to carry him in the water. I would recommend swimsuit for the little ones. It was great to try the wader, we had so much fun. We also had great photos and fresh oysters!
An incredible experience that any local, interstate or international visitor should do! The boat, the tour guides, the wading, the freshest oysters you’ll ever eat… everything was superb and top class! It’s an informative experience and you’ll leave with a far greater appreciation for oyster farming.
Informative, beautiful cruise of the Oyster farms. We enjoyed the best oysters weve ever had after an informative discourse in their history and farming techniques
Really worthed the extra cost for the 3 hours oysters experience. Highly knowledgeable and friendly staff, lovely experience. Definitely to be recommended and experienced
Great tour! Very interesting and short but sweet. Oysters and Gin were delicious. Child friendly too!?
The short and sweet tour today was excellent, not only did we have a comprehensive history if the oyster industry, so interesting, then onto the tasting, absolutely beautiful, even for my partner who had never had them before. Thank you so much, will be looking forward to coming back again
Such a lovely experience. The day was perfect not only weather wise but the delightful boat trips there and back from the oyster field. Sipping our drinks onboard whilst listening to the very experienced and informative oyster guide was so enjoyable.
