Piccoli Piatti / Byblos On OConnell reviews
32Came for a late night meal just as my flight landed, kitchen had closed but staff went above and beyond to still provide us with a delicious meal. Moey’s service and hospitality was amazing.
Best Lebanese and Mediterranean food in the town. Perfact atmosphere for families. Moey is super friendly server on the floor. Upstairs balcony sheesha with views makes perfact night overall. Great concept and congratulations to the entire team
Only recently opened and the food was fantastic. This is a Lebanese restaurant - no gnocchi is on the menu!
A few mezze and the BBQ platter for 2 fed 5 of us easily. Lots of beautiful Lebanese boys waiting on tables (although more interested in table with young women) however service was friendly and efficient once we caught their attention.
Service was absolutely incredible. Went above and beyond what you would expect in a dining experience. Well done and keep it up!
I've been here 3 times now over the last year and its always been great. Pasta was amazing. We had the mushroom gnocchi and the crab linguine. Great fresh flavour. Attentive staff. Bit pricey, but I think everything is these days, especially in the city.
Food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered a gamberi pizza which was a seafood pizza. The prawns and anchovies were packed with flavour complemented by cherry tomatoes and olives with balanced the pizza well. Only negative was the waiter had to constantly asked us to repeat our orders and they got me fries instead of wedges.
I order the risotto with prosciutto and mushrooms in it and the taste was great. Will back here for sure to try the other menus.
Great dining experience - Food is delicious with a fantastic menu adding great value for money. Friendly Staff and their Service was exceptional - Definitely going back.
Worst experience. Customer service was rude and horrible. Food had no flavour, burnt and dry. Drinks were horrible. All of that for a high price point, not worth the money or time at all.
My risotto was overcooked and my wife’s calamari had no taste at all. Very disappointed and quite expensive considering for what you get.
The staff were lovely. The entree of the antipasti was a bit average. It lacked imagination and the cheese appeared to have been out of a tin and was flavourless, and there was very little of it. The olives were prepared nicely. The rest could have easily some from Aldi which was a shame with Barossa on their doorstep. My partners steak was pretty good. The veggies a little unimaginative. The spaghetti carbonara was disappointing. The menu states panchette. Instead I got about half a kilo of cheap fatty bacon. The home made noodles could have been nice but there was a severe lack of sauce leaving it very dry. Had high expectations but sadly not received.
We used the upstairs function room which was really nice for our event. The food was great and everyone had a really nice time.
Only let down was some confusion around the payment and extra costs added to the bill. This was apparently in the service agreement but we could not find it stated anywhere. We tried to clarify this with the event manager over email but nothing was done.
They stopped replying to us which is pretty poor on their behalf but I won’t let it affect the actual experience we had that night. Although we probably won’t dine or hold an event there again.
We had breakfast here some time ago and it was really good.
So, when a need for a breakfast arose last Saturday, we decided to try it again.
Unfortunately, not such a good experience this time.
The coffee was full flavoured, but lukewarm.
My 'hot' breakfast was nothing like hot.
The rye sourdough toast was cold and very crunchy (not burnt, but tasted like it had been pre-toasted and left to sit out and dry out).
The poached eggs were nicely cooked, but were barely warm.
It wasn't busy when we were there (which shouldn't be an excuse anyway), so it was disappointing that the coffees and meal temperatures weren't better managed.
Positives = pricing was reasonable and we were able to easily park in Ward Street.
Would we go back based on this experience? Probably not.
We wanted to give this place a go and to be fair the food was very nice!
What let it down considerably was the wait time for entree's
40 minutes for a bowl of chips, Bruschetta and Mozzarella Fritti is pretty poor!
Our waitress had no idea what was keeping the kitchen and why the wait was so long. We would have stayed as our intention was to dine in and grab some small plates and a glass of vino but we had to get it to go as we had an appointment to go to.
We might give it another go when we don't have anywhere to be next time because the Mozzarella Fritti was delicious as was the sauce that accompanied them. The chips were well seasoned but unfortunately the sauce that it came with definitely was not garlic aioli; it was smokey and didn't taste very nice. The Bruschetta was delicious also and the only criticism on that was the lack of bocconcini and the large amount of oil.
Dined for a quick casual meal. Pizza was OK and an average price (a bit smaller than elsewhere) & drink prices at the very top end of the scale for an O'Connell St Italian Cafe. What was disappointing was the filthy skirting board near the kitchen servery (most offensive) and the generally battered state of most of the woodwork & doors was also a turn off. No issue with staff they were very friendly.
The pasta lacked salt, I would not be coming back here. There was no compensation for the lack of service either
Lovely food, one waitress did forget a few items we ordered but the other staff were excellent. Sadly they are closing at the end of the year so get in quick, very sad
If I could give a zero star I would. Being in the food industry my entire working career (35+ years) this would have to be the worst, and I mean the worst schnitzel I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few in my time. It was like eating leather, absolutely not fresh at all. Told the server, she told me she would let the kitchen know? Really? The guys haven’t been around for long, and they have already dropped the ball.
Excellent service and the coffee was fantastic. Breakfast was amazing - highly recommended.
We had my mother's 90th birthday party in the upstairs function room. Food was delicious and in abundance. The service was excellent. Reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend Piccoli Piatti.
