Phuket Thai Restaurant reviews
48I have to say this is a very bad restaurant. The food is terrible and the service attitude is even worse! If you want them to ruin your day, I recommend you to come! When my friend and I sat After waiting there for 40 minutes and still not seeing our food, the restaurant waiter, a man in his 40s, kept staring at us strangely! It was a really bad day!
Service is pretty good.
Though food seem extremely average
13-15 bucks for a small bowl of chicken tomyum seems very pricey, also very sweet
Green mango prawn salad is pretty good
Pepper Quail is not bad too. A bit of the salty side
Ordered the duck curry but they ran out so we swapped to the chicken curry, the serving was extremely small considering the price, the curry is also relative watery and the size of chicken is roughly 3 times the bite size, and was well overcooked.
With rice and drinks comes up to $130 for 2 adults and a kid who only had some rice only.
For the location which is pretty far from the Jetty it definitely set it pricey at almost fine dining.
I love this place. I've just finished a green chicken curry which was 100% authentic and delicious.
Looking around me on a Friday lunchtime, everyone is happily eating a range of dishes - there's always something new to try.
Phuket Thai is a terrific place. We are lucky to have it so close in Glenelg.
Dinner was lovely. Unusual green chicken curry - chicken is pulled - but very tasty. But! Significant stars off as charged $24.50 for steamed rice for 4! 2 large bowls (not enormous, tureen only 2/3 full). Ridiculous! I understand a fee per head for rice but when we had seconds of rice getting charged all over again? !? Shame, would have been great other than this, and so many other restaurants to choose from here
I wasn't really impressed with the food. Pad Thai, beef massaman curry were very ordinary. Seemed like they were under staffed as well. Dessert was good though. Will I come back? Not too sure to be honest.
I have had excellent meals from Phuket Thai over the years but was very disappointed with our takeaway recently. I asked for two serves of Thai duck curry which is my favourite but they had run out. I then ordered masaman beef curry, the seafood and special fried rice. The beef curry was very dry and chewy. The seafood was delicious but the fried rice was gluggy - I was expecting something light and fluffy but it was just mush.
It was my first dining there but I understood that they have very good reputation and regular clientele so it's recommended to book a table in advance. Especially for Friday nights etc
We booked our table in advance, had a bit to wait to be seated and waiting time between entrees and main dishes was much longer than 15 minutes.
But it was busy night and food was excellent so I didn't mind.
Prices are not cheap so be prepared to pay approximately $60 per person and we even didn't have a wine or other alcoholic beverage.
I was pleasantly surprised to find mineral water Antipodes from New Zealand. $10 per 1l bottle but I wasn't able to resist as Antipodes is also my favourite New Zealand skincare brand
Food is always delicious, fresh and worth coming back for, staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you to the whole staff of Phuket Thai for providing us so many great dinners at a reasonable price over many years.
Very poor customer service on arrival, followed by basic information on food and wine. Would not recommend
Absolute terrible attitude of staff. After ordering they served one starter in 20 mins and next in 40 mins mins after that. When we called to ask why the food is not served. Supervior said" there is a way we serve food here. We serve entree first and then mains" i asked so why did you serve one entree first and next after 40 mins and now we need to wait for mains? She replied"our staff dint write the order correctly" so rather than apologising for their fault she lectured us on how we shld give instructions. We all work in service industry and the way the staff behaved was rather shocking. Food was good and has always been good but the staff shld be trained to act appropriately. We dint go there for free food
This is not Thai food at all everything is sweet. Pad Thai and soup are totally disaster. I never experienced anything like this. If you want real Thai food, this is not the restaurant you are looking.
Squid salad well executed with delicious sharp sauce. Had very generous whole barramundi crisp deep fried with customised spicy sauce and lashings of lemon followed by garlic lightly steamed greens. All cooked right.
First time at this restaurant. Ordered, fresh chilli, prawn and vegetable stir fry with rice and a curry with rice. The meals were beautifully presented, great serves, tasty, and very fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and the waitress helpful and friendly. Enjoyed everything. They do takeaways which is convenient. The restaurant is not too big but comfortable with simple decor. This restaurant is worth visiting.
Very good overall. Pleasant setting friendly staff. Did not give 5 stars as there was no stand out dish in what we ordered food was good all the same.
Food was great, but the experience not so much. We waited for about an hour for the mains and when asked why its taking so long, the answer was well you had your entrees already. Perhaps it was a busy night, but seems that they need more helpers on the floor or in the kitchen, as quite a few tables who had started after us, finished before we even got our mains.pity as the food was actually really good.
Started out a good evening and all meals ok except for massaman curry. Was extremely salty, and I left most of the dish, couldn’t eat it. My husband tried it and agreed. Advised the waitress who reacted with amusement, did not take it seriously at all.
Mentioned to the owner (presumably) when paying the bill, and whilst we received an apology (begrudgingly) it was followed up by some comments questioning if I had eaten this dish before and how this is how they serve it? Didn’t appreciate being patronised. I know massaman curry, I’ve enjoyed it at numerous Thai restaurants in Melbourne and intestate and that IS NOT how it should taste! Attitude of the owner and staff was disappointing, won’t be going back unfortunately!
Lovely place with some interesting dishes. Went here with my family and we all really enjoyed it. The food was quite nice and had a good variety, and the servers were all really friendly. The only things I didn't like about the restaraunt were that it was a bit cramped, and the deserts were a bit bland (we had the banana cake thing and the banana fritters). They were interesting to try at least once though, and the rest of the food was enjoyable. I strongly recommend sharing dishes though if you go to eat here. While the dishes are nice, they get a bit "samey" when you just eat the one thing. They're also quite big, so three people would probably only need two.
Simply stunning Thai food - with the most authentic and tasty green chicken curry.
Wow, what a surprise – simply stunning Thai food that is authentic and flavourful. We shared four dishes and each one unique and tasty. Our favourite was the Gang Keo Wann (Green chicken curry with bamboo shoots fresh chilli and fresh basil – interestingly not doused with coconut milk and served with the perfect amount of heat. Gang Masman Neau (Masaman Beef Curry) - slow cooked beef in mild to medium curry served with potatoes and peanut (medium hot). Phud Thai (Thai Noodles) - Thai rice noodles fried with shrimps, chicken, egg, bean sprout and ground peanut. Gai Phud Himarparn (Chicken Fillet with Cashew) - chicken fillet stir-fried with cashew nuts, pineapple, and fried onion. All the food was so delicious with the green chicken curry the best we’ve ever eaten – so authentic.
Thai red curry tasted like watery soup and when we informed the waiter, very conveniently responded by saying that is how we make it and it's authentic. Been having Thai food all my life but this was my worse experience
Great service always. Food options are many and they do it well. Almost always busy. Been many times.never disappointed. Even after covid issues, great food and service.
