Pergolas of Distinction

Originally happy, paid in full, but now we have issues, there is no follow up. We have water leaking though eaves and pergola is also not water tight. Looks lovely, but very worried about water damage inside the house as they have not sent anyone to figure out our issues. Very disappointed in the lack of Customer care once they take our hard earned cash

I am happy to say that our new Vogue Pergola has been installed and looks great. From the point of our initial request for a quote the guys at Pergolas of Distinction were professional and transparent with updates at all times. The great thing about Pergolas of Distinction is that you get a dedicated contact person that is across all the details, timings etc (thanks Dan). Having said that, on the rare occasion he was unavailable, there were always other staff members who had no hesitation in jumping in and trying to answer any questions I had. They also handled all of the back and forth with the council which was very much appreciated and made the whole process more efficient.
Adam and Nick were the installers and turned up when they said they would and finished the job without any fuss, left no rubbish behind and even hosed down the paving once they were done.
All in all, very happy with the end result and the stress free journey to get there.

After completion we had a couple of small issues but looking back after around 5 years the result is fantastic, no structural issues, everything as it should be.

Let’s just say, I’m impressed.
My carport was built in 1.5 days. The guy that pretty much built it by himself (Jake) until an apprentice joined on day 2 (I forgot his name sorry?) was awesome. Hardworking, professional but also just chilled and friendly. He checked a few things with me, we compromised on a few things, but all in all, I’m STOKED. They sorted council approval for me. Always kept me up to date with things.

I do not recommend this company. Poor communication, false misguiding information. Web pages states free design and quotes. Paid our 10% and then they refused to refund, stating we had to pay for council fees in which we had contacted our council and SA planning and there was not any charge. They refused to reply to polite emails and manager would not answer our calls. We also had to ring up several times just to get them to come out to do a quote. I had to place 1 star just to leave a honest review.

Carpenter owned and operated. The father has stepped back and carpenter son runs this business which has been operating for decades. They use sub contractors to build on site. And painters are completely independent of POD. I had a pergola and carport built on site.

15 years ago Pergolas of Distinction did an outstanding job on constructing and painting our gazebo. We contracted them again to build a bespoke pergola but but we're sad to say our experience was very different.
Initial planning and construction of the pergola on site was good but the painting preparation and the painting job was rushed and clearly substandard. After we complained about the poor paintwork job, to their credit they an apologised and returned the painter to rectify the paint job and do his best to clean the over sprayed areas of our property and garden. Needless to say the paint job was highly disappointing.

We originally decided upon Pergolas of Distinction for a project involving a carport, pergola, deck and café-style blinds, based on their quote being significantly more competitive than a number of other quotes obtained for the same work. The time for planning and approval was brief and without issue, and construction of the two structures and deck were completed in between 2~3 weeks - an impressive effort given the overall amount of work, and weather interruptions.
The overall build quality of the pergola, carport and deck are very high - a testament to the care for workmanship by installer Michael and his team.

Blinds were booked in with specific instructions regarding height and placement, and it seemed as though my intentions were understood by their "engineer" Daniel. The blinds were installed a few weeks later, with incorrect height and placement on one blind. It took 2 weeks, including 2 un-replied SMS, 3 calls, 1 failed appointment, and an escalation through director Hamish, before Daniel showed his face to understand why I was not happy with the job. I called Daniel two days later, and he assured me that the parts for rectification were ordered on the date of his visit, stating the issue should be resolved in just over a week. During this visit, Daniel was nice enough to betray the privacy of the blinds subcontractor, and alert me to the reason for the miscommunication were due to the drunken antics of said subcontractor. God only knows what other gossip is shared between employees and customers of this group.

3 weeks passed between this date and my next attempt to engage Daniel (no efforts were made to alert me to why I was still waiting - I had to initiate conversation). Although there were 2 working days inside this timeframe that were impacted by the Adelaide lockdown, I still see this communication breakdown as highly unhelpful for myself.

I didn't hear from Daniel after my first voicemail left, or even my second. I once again decided to escalate the matter through Hamish, who gave a stock standard apology. He also confirmed the drunken antics that led to the original subcontractor being vacant to complete the job. Bit of a pattern emerging with staff revealing otherwise confidential information. Hamish reassured me that the blinds team would be out again in a week's time to complete the work.

Wouldn't you know it. Daniel didn't order the part for the second installer visit! By the time the contractors come out a third time, it will be almost 8 weeks from their first visit until the date I'm now hoping everything will be wrapped up. This doesn't even include the lead time from Daniel's initial measure until the date of final rectification. The best I could get out of Hamish was an apology, without any real appreciation that I have had to reschedule other external contractors for work that can only be done once the blinds are fully installed.

When I raised the likelihood of writing this review, Hamish failed to understand the concern I had in outlining that at least two of the existing reviews belong to employees I have dealt with along the way. I see it as blatantly fraudulent behaviour, and out outright conflict of interest. The owner of the business has even responded to one of these reviews! I received Hamish's acceptance that my call was being recorded, so if these reviews are removed, any amount of intentional misrepresentation is confirmed.

If you want a project done by this group, I can only speak positively about 90% of their work. Just PRAY that nothing goes wrong, PRAY that there are no warranty issues. Daniel will find a way to not answer your call, miss an appointment without communication, forget to order something, send installers with the wrong parts. And if you're really lucky, he'll fill you in on some of the office goss!

I wasn't quite sure what I wanted for my backyard, Andrew, Hamish and the team took the time to help me come up with a design. The markilux awnings I went with had 3 folders worth of design fabric and they were happy to leave them with me for a few days to work out what design I'd be happy with. Due to covid and things closing down all over the place, the order took longer than normal for the blinds to arrive, however they're well worth the wait. Due to my busy work schedule, I wasn't able to be home when during the installation, however I was undated regularly and they cleaned up after themselves.
I did have a few teething issues with the wind sensors, it has taken a few calls to Hamish to come out and make a few adjustments, however every time he was happy to come out, to ensure I was happy with them. I love my new blinds, they keep the house cool on the hot days, and I can bring them in when I want to let the sun in.
I can highly recommend Hamish and his team!

Out of the 6 quotes we recieved Pergolas of Distinction were the best.
The service is top notch and quality of work matches that and more.
