Para Wirra Conservation Park reviews
57Pre booking is a must. Easy to get to. Well signed. Sites are quite close together, so setup for privacy is paramount. We had never been before, so to find 2 big ant nest that took up half of our campsite was annoying, but we managed to set up around them. There are flushedable toilets and running water with soap. Not to be drunk without treatment, so byo water. No rubbish bins, so take what you bring. Still some cutt glow at night, but clear skies made for nice views.
Great getaway close to Adelaide, many bush walks and hiking tracks, bbq areas, sheltered, toilets, caravan camping, camper van camping areas for park fees look up website.
What could be more enjoyable than an early winter day walking the trails of Para Wirra, where water flows through? Peaceful footsteps brought me to lie on the lakeside, listen to the birds chirping on the branches and not mind the bustling city life.
At Para Wirra, I can be myself, breathe the breath of mother nature and hear the sound of water flowing like blood in my heart. Para Wirra, interestingly, is also a place where you can stop and camp. If you go on a moonlit winter night, you can freely look at the distant stars from the galaxy. The more I immerse myself in nature, the smaller I feel in the vast universe, and the more I see our life as a miracle.

Beautiful hike did 2 and a half walk but only took an hour walking time we had lunch on the trail and took in the view and hiatory
Surprising, expansive views of nature and beautiful fauna. We have enjoyed some great hikes there.
This place is a hidden gem of South Australia and the Northern suburbs.
My family have frequented Para Wirra for over 35 or more years and I've seen the park change alot over the years.
I'm both pleased and dissapointed at the introduction of camping sites on one hand it's great for people to experience on the other hand it has taken away picnic spots and family areas but I do understand the parks need to stay viable.
On a recent trip there to honour my deceased grandfathers memory I was pleased to still see Emu's wandering around the park something we have very fond memories of from when I was younger.
Thanks for keeping this park up and running and for continually providing a place for us to relive family memories.
We camped here for the one night. There is a pit toilet and also a small picnic area undercover. Only downside is that the campsite we were on was quite close to those either side of us.
This place is magnificent. Me and my best friend went there yesterday. We going Emu and a lots of kangaroos and they also have 14 track routes to choose. It is really good
We walked most of the tracks at one time or another.
The park is hot during the summer, the paths have steep sections and Mine Track is slippery when wet. Some tracks to vantage points are dead end, leave extra time to backtrack. It is still worth it.
There are short, easy walks around the lake and around the picnic area and along closed roads but the best views are from the tracks. Vegetation varies depending how much water and sunshine they get. There are insects eating the plants and plants eating insects, mostly sundews.
Birds like company, most can be seen close to the picnic areas.
The Barossa Inlier is exposed, these are 1.5 billion year old granites and gneisses.
Edit: There is a nice stop where Humbug Scrub road crosses the South Para river.
Love walking through the national parks.
Frank Barker road park is one of our favourites.
Good to camp but not for privacy or space, was quite shocked how close all the sites are together considering how big the place is. Had to be quite conscious about the noise level
A nice walk very peaceful not hard to walk and if you look hard enough you will see some unusual animals ps some of the walks not hard go there fine out 10 Dollars to get in
Lovely place to come for a walk, so many trails to choose from and definitely nice to learn about some history of the area
Great walking trails, beautiful landscapes plus the history of the Barossa goldfields. Well worth the journey.
Such a great place to explore nature with great fauna and flora to check out. Highly recommended this park for all
One of the local go to places for a nice walk in our local bushland. Plenty of tracks to choose from. Picnic tables and bbq near the lake, emus often sighted (take care on the roads). Lovely place to relax and get away from the city for a bit.
A nice park with multiple walking and riding tracks. Good spot for families with bbq nd camping facilities, wildlife watching and a lake. No swimming or fishing. Vehicle entry fees or you can optionally walk in.
The pond/lake looks great but very dirty, wish it was a fresh water and we could swim. And should be free entry if not camping. $12 for an entry is just too much.
It's a nice step into nature just out if Salisbury. At first the "pay your fees" signs were confusing but once I realised they were for camping I went on my way. The dog loved the lake and the semi-natural trails, but the signs for locations are a little misleading.
So beautiful, peaceful, amazingly fresh air, friendly emu's and other wildlife.who knew this utopia was so close to home.
