OTR Gouger Street reviews
8Poor customer service in the mornings, ring the night bell nobody came to the counter. The previous morning I was waiting to be served while the shop keeper was sitting on his phone for a good 2 minutes, fair enough if it was during the night but this is 6 in the morning.
Poor service, putting serving customers at the last place after finishing all his messy stuff.
Experienced the rudest service here tonight at 7.45pm
I don’t know how someone can get a job when they clearly have no desire to serve customers or work.
The guy serving looked like it was a great inconvenience for him to speak or even walk toward me. He was directing me from over at the sink with his back turned. He didn’t listen and grunted and used hand gestures instead of speaking. Honestly an automated robot would be more efficient
I know it’s hard to find staff but OTR must do better
I can find supermarket icecream at a much more pleasant location with friendly people serving
Will avoid this place until they improve customer service
24h place! Few, very few vegan stuff (nuts, fruits) but I am very glad I can walk any time and get some munchies.
Service is great during the day but it has happened over 3 times when there’s no one attending the counter at night, hit the bell countless times and waited for over 15 minutes and no one ever came out to greet the customers.
This used to be my go to OTR in the city, until half of their best team members seemed to disappear, leaving the shop under-stocked and under-staffed… In a tiny shop like this, and the area it’s in, you’d think it would rely on a steady and caring team to get by… with such a vibrant and enthusiastic team located just around the corner and West Terrace; I’m much happier to go the extra distance instead.
Friendly staff offering good service.
Krispy Creme donuts are available here.
Along with snacks, drinks and hot food.
Wheelchair access is available.
You can not buy anything quickly here. The staff are obviously under orders, and won't let you finish the transaction until they've spammed you about their mobile app, and double checked that you're sure you don't want to download it. If you can get two for the price of one of whatever you're buying, they will spam you about that too, and double check that you're sure you don't want a second one. This will happen every time you go to the place. If you're paying in cash, you won't get your change until you've received the whole spiel again.
It's probably no slower, definitely much cheaper, and far less annoying to go to Coles, only 200m away.
The other, more serious problem with the place, is that it pumps out a lot of litter. They provide Al Fresco dining, but they don't provide the diners with a bin. That's why, on a windy day, you'll find Krispy Kreme bags and OTR cups all up and down Gouger Street.
