Olive Branch Cafe reviews
33Wait times are ridiculous and the staff are more interested in socialising with each other then dealing with the customers.
Good food, great service, the interior could do with a makeover but is functional and comfortable.
Lovely place to stop and have lunch. We had an Angus burger and club sandwich. Good size serves and quick and friendly service.
The best battered fish and chips, I'm a Coeliac, so I can eat the batter as it's GF, and there is a designated separate fryer. Always good food and reasonable prices, great coffee and fresh cakes available. Also take away meals.
Lovely food, good friendly service, great coffee. The only thing I did notice today was that the interior could do with a freshen up, it's looking a little tired. But still a lovely place to go with great community spirit.
Great coffee and real food. If you want standard “white bread” fare or trendy decor this is not for you. If you prefer a casual place to have a decent coffee &/or meal with focus on local & fresh, friendly country service, then come on in. Community garden and swap table out the side.
Amazing staff and such a good spread of options. Sweet potato wedges are perfect for a pick me up
I visited 3 times in the last month with a work colleague and 2 different groups with disabilities. They were accommodating with our clients having their own food and we bought food and drinks and our clients bought drinks. I had soup with toast each time and it was lovely and reasonably priced. One client had a club sandwich which he said he enjoyed. One client played in the kids play area when he finished his lunch. The staff spoke to our clients when they ordered their drinks and one staff remembered what my client had a month ago when we visited the first time. My first visit my colleague said he enjoyed the coffee. The second visit my colleague said the coffee was great and that he had dreams about it so I tried it today and it is bloody good coffee. I would recommend for the coffee either dine in or takeaway. If dining in it is spacious and quiet inside even with many people and also they have 2 doors, one for entry and the other for an exit I’m assuming to ease congestion and or maybe something that was started due to Covid however, my clients used the incorrect door. The staff were extremely friendly. I would definitely return when I’m back in the hills again
Very limited and basic menu that was not very tasty. Menu said head chef has 30yrs exp in high end Melbourne restaurants but it is just a club sandwich, fish and chips, pakora burger, chicken schnitzel or beef burger and wedges or sweet potato chips.
Cake fridge was uninspired and cutlery was dirty. Over priced and lacking enthusiasm from the owners. Service was fine. Lunch at a bakery would have been better and half the cost.
Delightful indoor setting in the Adelaide Hills. Lunch with friends was served promptly and gratuitously. Food was sumptuous and tasty. Highly recommended.
I'm sorry to be mostly negative in my review, but this will hopefully encourage the owners to respond in improvements. Positives-spacious, well lit, generous seating, enclosed kids play corner, beautiful art work for sale on the walls was the only thing that brightened up this cafe.
Negs-outdated decor, dirty walls, chairs comfortable but looking worn, basic menu, signage with specials above serving counter is handwritten on paper, prices didn't reflect quality of food (higher end price, average presentation and taste) service was slow (sunday lunch at full capacity), felt more like a cafeteria than a restaurant/cafe
Lacks life and atmosphere. So much potential in this quaint town, tourist area and great location.
PS upon reading other reviews, I see it's popular and loved as is, owned by locals, with a personal story of loss attached. So please don't take my review personally. I may have come on a busy, understaffed day, but these are just my observations as a in comparison to visiting customer to this area.
Friendly service and great food, was happy to serve us lunch even though kitchen had just closed
Food drink and service good but noisy as there is a little kid's play area which make coversations difficult. Great for mum's with young children. I was with a group
of older persons
Honestly how can you make a bacon and egg roll almost inedible? I dont know but may be speak to these guys they have it down to a fine art. Blackened bacon, uncuttable roll, bitter old fat taste and overcooked hard egg.the sauce was very funky. Place was grubby.
Homey, reasonably priced, and invitingly tatty. Local talent on the second Sunday of the month is a winner. Community spirit.
It is quite a large cafe but was fairly empty. We were hoping for a nice coffee and cake but I think it's more of a breakfast and lunch cafe.
Only went in for coffee and cake in the afternoon but the gluten free Monte Carlo that I had was funky vibe, little bit dated, but overall great!
What a great little spot. They have perfected the formula for a successful cafe. Great value, superb quality food and excellent level of customer service. Loved it. Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend it.
What a gem the Olive Branch Cafe is - lots of space to sit indoors/outdoors and make sure to try a gluten free cheese cake - YUM
This place is not about being a fancy restaurant, its not about making a plate of food into art and its not the place you would come to dressed up on a Friday or Saturday night, its about making food the best it can be using locally sourced produce where possible. I had a beef and vegie pie and the meet was awesomely tender and just a good hearty pie. The prices are really reasonable and there is even a kids play area. Abit of a shame i live so far away otherwise I think I would be here every weekend for a meal. For anyone who appreciates good food this is a must see food destination
