Okami Japanese Restaurant reviews
27The service and food was excellent, lots of variety though the beef carpaccio that I ordered did not arrive even after asking for it twice, so I'll be back.
Very rude service AYCE menu we a table of three myself and my two kids felt interrogated and devalued by cook and service staff the poor timely response. They prioritised larger groups over smaller groups very disappointing. Rotten salad see picture. Finally the fried fish desert bean pudding was covered in dirty smelly oil I nearly threw up. They decided to overcharge my 12 year old adult price and we left 30min early forfeiting our sitting time of 90min. Don’t come here.
This is a great night out with a group, be it family or friends. The menu is easy to navigate, the ordering process is simple, the food is tasty and fresh. There is something for everyone here.
For dinner, all the staff were together for the first time in 5 days, so we had a small launch
All-you-can-eat for $39.8 (drinks not included), which is quite cheap for Australia.
・Starting with the usual [VB beer]
・Australia has good wine so [white wine]
・Standard for drinking parties [deep-fried chicken]
・For some reason, the shrimp tempura is rectangular [Tempura assortment]
・This restaurant is a Japanese restaurant, but for some reason [Shuumai]
・This is also for some reason (lol) [Vegetable Gyoza]
・[Eringi] Irresistible seasoning that is not found in Japan
・[Shrimp Gyoza] The crispy skin is irresistible
・Irresistible nigiri sushi that you don't often see because there are only sushi rolls [Sushi assortment]
・Standard but forgotten [edamame]
・This is an exquisite [Angus Beef Teriyaki] Soft and easy-to-eat diced Angus beef steak
・[Beef Carpaccio] This is the most popular and I ordered a second one
・[Spicy Grilled Squid] A hidden gem that goes well with beer, shochu, and sake
・When I remember it, I suddenly want to eat [Takoyaki]
・[Chilled Soba] This is. I guess they wanted to make Chinese style cold noodles with Japanese soba. This is a controversial piece (lol)
・[Yaki udon] It uses beef and is quite good
・I was lured by the miso seasoning [beef miso-yaki] The sweetness was strong, but the meat was tender, and I should have ordered this in the first half
・[Red wine] to finish off the wine you haven't had in a long time
・Aurus is [vanilla ice cream].
It's good without being overly sweet.

Today I relaxed and relaxed for the first time in a while

Went for Mothers Day and was surprised at the efficiency of service. Slightly longer wait than normal for food, but being so busy was understandable. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent food and service. Great value all you can eat, cooked to order. Variety of dishes to choose from. If you really like a particular dish you can reorder it. Fast and good quality. Visited many times. Very popular so nothing stale.
Food is really nice. Green tea icecream was really nice. All you can eat buffet is so worth the $40 pp. We probably ate them out of food
Excellent value for money - all you can eat yummy Japanese food for about $40 per person. We will be back soon!
We went mothers day very very busy food was delightful we even ordered a couple of dishes again. We had never been there didn't know what to expect. Recommended highly and happy to go again
Lack of choice, taste not good, some too salty, some taste oily, strongly not recommended. Zero/10
The layout and design of Okami is uniquely modern whilst upholding a Japanese Vibe.
Quality food: moderate
Service: moderately attentive
Well done Okami. We came here for a family celebration. The all you can eat gave us an opportunity to try a range of dishes. Service was fast efficient and friendly. A good variety on the menu which was well prepared. Dishes came out very quickly after ordering. Downside was that some of the dishes such as chicken Katsu came with very little sauce which made it a little bland. In contrast the miso steak was excellent
Feel like a waste of time and money. Don't get me wrong the staff were really friendly but the food was a disaster (some of them were burned and tasted bitter).
I had a special request cause of allergy, they didn't met my requirement and refuse to make changes.
0/10, don't recommend
Had a lovely time tonight. We went for a celebration and food was lovely and delicious. Staff were great. Love it highly recommended.
Our dining experience at Okami was outstanding! We were served delicious food that was presented lovely. A wide range of Japanese food was tried and we were delighted with every different dish that we received.
The service was excellent and we ate a very generous amount of food. Overall it certainly was great value for money and we certainly will be going back again.
Truthfully - very average.
Granted, for the price it isn’t fair to have high expectations BUT most of the food (entrees especially) are straight out of a frozen bag - and tastes like it.
The menus hero meat dishes are poor at best. We tried all of them. Mostly drenched in salty sauces to mask the flavourless cheap meat cuts being used to keep costs down.
As a side note - the spicy squid was interesting. Wouldn’t have been at all surprised if the one of the cooks hadn’t worn the tube as a shoe around the kitchen all afternoon (…shockingly tough/bad)
All in all. It’s a cheap eat that you won’t do again.
Staff were lovely though. Even if you can’t hear a word they are saying over how loud the joint is.
Avoid.
Nothing wrong with the quality of the sushi dishes, however choices are limited but for the that price can’t really complain to much
Not recommended.
Caught our attention with their ad “all u can eat for 38”. Sounds like a great deal, but we are not that cagey with money, we also order many drinks which, ironically, not part of the “all you can eat”.
The rating would be much higher, until one of their waitress accidentally drop their fried eggplant on my friend. She was wearing a expensive velvet pant and a sweater. We weren’t mad because we knew it was an accident. We switch seats and hoping a proper apology or maybe just pay for the dry cleaning. Unexpectedly, we been told that one of our drink (about 4$) would be free as an apology and that is? . We didn’t ask for that? When we talked to the lady at the counter when we pay the bill. She wear a icy poker face act like we are looking for trouble or something and said “that’s all we can do, I am the manager”.
We left don’t know what to say. Alright food, nice decor, bad service is the conclusion I think.
We had ordered their AYCE dinner special. Their fried options are delicious and packed with authentic Japanese flavour and we enjoyed the miso & udon dishes, however i found their sushi options quite limited and ordinary.
Great all you can eat menu.
Standout dishes from our sitting.
Beef teriyaki
Beef miso
Gyoza
Squid salad
Seaweed salad
