My Yen Chinese Restaurant reviews
20Very sensational Chinese food with excellent customer service. Perfect for family and group dining event. ️️
Family owned business, super friendly staff, very accomodating with customer needs, very traditional cantonese food that not many places do anymore. Food is absolutely delightful. 100% recommend.
Way to expensive stir fly noodle 28.90$ pork dish 26.80$ tofu 19.90, small portion and basic, not worth it at all. We could go to the shop around Kingwilliam with that price
Fabulous experience with our family! The food was DELISH, and we were blown away by the kind service from Janet and the team. Very attentive and friendly:) Our son has severe allergies and Janet was so helpful in guiding us with the menu, whilst also making amendments to some of their dishes so he could eat most things! Everything came out in a timely manner so it worked well for the kids leading into bed time. We can’t wait to head back and make My Yen a regular spot!
Some of the staff are very IMPOLITE and RUDE. I definitely won’t come back again because of the staff attitude are REALLY BAD.
I am good friends with the owner at this place, he is a doctor and always says EXCUSE ME and DISAPOINTTTTT! Very good food
Had amazing service until they got new management, the wait time is long but definitely worth it the food is amazing
Enjoyed their roast duck, sweet sour pork and crocodile in XO sauce. Surprisingly quiet. Reasonable pricing and serve size.
As the name suggest it is her "Yen". The worst customer service ever in Adelaide. Food quality and quantity was "Average". They only want dine-in, take-away customers are considered as a nuisance
Have eaten from here quite a few times, tonight's order however was terrible. Black pepper beef tasted like it had no black pepper but instead had tomato sauce on it. Beef kway teow had no wok flavour, or really any flavour. Under seasoned. Salt and pepper pork was ok, honey prawns was ok but prawns were small and batter was falling off.
Really the beef and noodles were terrible, main reason I was motivated to write this review.
Wouldn't recommend unless they go back to how the flavours were 5 years ago.
As I have no car, I was forced to use Uber. I threw out most of the food. My order was "crispy" skin chicken with plum sauce & vegetable tempura. The chicken was too thick & chewy + the skin was about as crispy as custard. The tempura had pieces where the batter was floury still & other pieces were swimming in oil. On Chinese New Year, an extremely disappointing (& hugely expensive) experience. Had I dined in the restaurant & they served this to me, I'd have walked out!
Very authentic decor and flavours, we had the San Chow Bou, sizzling Mongolian lamb and Satay chicken, just all delicious - they do takeway too!
Authentic Chinese cuisine at its delicious best! Outstanding dishes included the Crab Claw, Salt and Pepper Squid, Bean Curd stuffed with Prwan meat and the Seafood Fried Rice. Complimenting the very enjoyable and flavoursome food was friendly and efficient service from our waiter. We will be back!
Honestly nothing to speical. Tipical Chinese food service was pretty good, friendly staff.
The only problems I had was the restaurant was older and could use a update and my friend and I had to keep swatting flies away the whole night. Probably won't be back or recommend.
Authentic Cantonese cuisine at reasonable price. Love the cozy dining environment and the heart-warming service of the restaurant.
We love her vermicelli soup with duck meat, fishcake with brocoli, steamed eel in blackbean paste and roasted duck. Yummy
Shared a banquet with friends and all agreed that the food was fantastic.
Restaurant a little tired but food made up for it
I know that out of all of the chinese restaurants in adelaide, this is where i would want to spend my yen!
Discussing customer service skills, rude as hell. How these people survive in Australia without basic human courtesy skills.
Excellent. Cant reccomend high enough. Traditional Chinese restaurant setting and very friendly staff plus the food is very reasonably priced
My Yen is like the Chinese restaurants I remember as a kid.
Quite daggy with mismatched decor, plastic flowers and a look and style that mabey hasn"t changed since the 80's.
In other words GLORIOUS!
The service was a little slow at first but I think that was because we were there early and there was only one wait staff member on.
It got better as 2 more staff came on.
We had the dinner for 2 menu and the food was just delicious.
A bit pricier than average but good sized serves (none of this tiny meal on huge plates nonsense)
Our prawn dish was perfection and the rest of the meal most enjoyable.
Just good honest, well prepared food in a not-at-all-snooty atmosphere.
There are a lot of newer places around that could learn a lesson in humbleness from My Yen.
Well done!
