My Kingdom For a Horse reviews
74Coffee was amazing, just really well made. I didn't like the huevos rancheros I ordered. The beans were in a tomato sauce, no spices that I could taste, there were some small pieces of carrot. Definitely give the place a go for the coffee, but maybe order a different dish.
Consistently 5 stars. The food is always delicious. I've been coming here for many years and the coffee is always great, the eggs Benny is top tier, and I've never had a meal that I've thought was less than amazing.
Tried the fish tacos today - fresh and delicious.
Nice place, nice food but not good value for money. Charged $6 for 1 piece of Haloumi. Small to medium serve of shakouka was almost $30. And then there’s a weekend surcharge on top of that (which I totally support) but ends up making it an expensive outing when food is already overpriced for portion size. Plus what is the $1 card merchant fee? ! All in all, felt a little ripped off and probs won’t be back for that reason.
I was recommended to go to My Kingdom For A Horse for coffee.
I ordered Magic and magic was what I got!
It figures as I discovered that the owner is from Melbourne. Well done Melburnians for spreading our excellent standard of amazing coffee far and wide!
In top of it, it was a lovely sun drenched place indoors with shady umbrellas for outdoor seating.
Food was decent tasting. My fish tacos cost nearly $30 for 2 though. With a coffee each the brunch cost us over $40 per person. Also 10% surcharge on weekends. I think there's better options around Adelaide.
Simply the best coffee in Adelaide!
I came to have a long black, which was nothing special, but the hospitality, vibe and friendly staff made even better the experience.
Came here for breakfast during the week where customers outnumbered the meagre staff. Food and service excellent. Returned early afternoon on a Saturday and was completely the other way. About 8 staff and 4 tables in. Waitress looked like we were a hindrance to her job. Chorizo left off the order. One older guy serving appeared to be doing everything, he even acknowledged our lack of service. Come on a weekday folks.
I love everything about this place! The food, the decor, the plants, the phenomenal coffee and the atmosphere. A big shout out to Teresa who was super sweet and helpful and one of the most thoughtful and friendly waitresses one could ever meet! Thank you
Nice place to catch up or meet friends for a quick lunch or brunch
Friendly staff and good food.
The combo of poached pears and thick cut bacon was delicious. Think roast port and apple sauce flavour combo. Yum.
Lovely looking place yet massively over priced. $7.95 for a miniature “large” coffee that was weak and over extracted. Definitely not a double or what I’d expect a triple shot atleast for that price. Your website eluded to a 10% and 15% surcharge even for weekends? Hospitality runs mostly weekends and I’m certain you don’t pay your weekend staff more as you mention. Why not just be honest and explain it’s a 25% surcharge on public holidays and weekends and that it’s a complete rip off.
Great place, atmosphere, and bright with great coffee. Certainly one of my first picks when it comes to choosing a cafe to go to.
It’s great to see well put together venues with attention to detail.
The colors and overall design had a nice calm retro vibe.
The staff were friendly, professional and helpful.
The drinks and food menu was plentiful and seemed to be something for everyone.
In this day and age, catering for the Dietary requirements of Veteraians, Vegans, Lactose free, etc is a given and will always add value and credibility to a Food business.
If it’s done well, these people are willing to travel and pay a reasonable price to be accommodated for.
The amenities were clean.
We will definitely be adding this one to our list of places to return to.
Only suggestion would be to improve the acoustics. I’d simply get some more soft furnishings, canvases etc.
Or grab a few acoustic panels and fix to the ceiling or walls.
Both the staff and customers would appreciate this reduction in reverberating noise from coffee making and other peoples conversations bouncing around the room. I feel this would greatly improve the ambience.
Thanks again and look forward to returning again soon.
Brian and his team are flawless.
From their cafe latte art (see photos) to their warm welcome.
A wonderful way to start a Friday morning.
I can highly recommend their breakfast and coffee. The coffee was sooooo bloody good we ordered another one for take away. (You should do the same!)
Enjoy! ️?
I grabbed a Reuben sandwich and an in-house yoghurt with toasted nuts with a freshly squeezed orange juice everything was delicious and freshly made highly recommend this establishment
The food is too expensive and the coffee is Ok. I thought the other day gave them a second chance and I went there alone, they had a lot of tables available and they told me to be sit in the window, I didn’t want to so I asked for a little table but she told me that they’re gonna asked me to move if they need that table, I said Ok, but then she repeated again after I paid and then when she brought me the meal as well, and they had the windows sits available, 6 more tables and one of the hole big one as well…. So so rude because I was by myself and I think that was annoying for them. They just care about the money and not on the customers. I’ll never come back.
Very good coffee and lovely customer service!
Good heart people:). At the end of day - they always deliver left over food to the homeless / most vulnerable people in the Adelaide CBD.
Keep up the good work guys
Good food & coffee. Was really loud cuz its really busy, wanna try again when its nice and quiet.
It was a good experience. The coffee was pretty good. Their food was good as well. I expected more but we visited there on Easter Monday. Thanks for the quick n great service tho.
I like this place, but the coffee is pricey. Maybe they are coming back from Covid, and God knows I'm glad they survived. But it's a lot per cup.
