Joy was a pleasure to deal with and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great to have kangaroos and Emus walking around the camp.

Loads of space for unpowered camping. Power nearer the homestead. Toilets and showers good. Bar in the reception area and a small shop. Friendly staff. Young kangaroos and emus running around when we were there - and of course goats. I'm not into the serious 4wding they offer around the property but I recommend the trip out to Lake Gairdner. Sensational sight!

Amazing place, already thinking about going back. Despite being a functioning sheep station the staff were generous with their time and so friendly. I had no trouble on the roads (May 2023) in my factory standard Forester, except I didn't attempt Mt Ive peak. The facilities are great - hot showers and the camp kitchen are all very well kept. I was in a tent so can't comment on the rooms but they looked fine. Open areas for camping are perfect for tents and caravans. The communal fire pit and a cold beer at the reception area were the perfect end to a day of exploring.

We arrived at Mt. Ive Station and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. After setting up our site, I went in and spoke to staff who were very informative to the extent provided assistance not expected for an early morning trip up to top of Mt Ive for sunrise. Also, I paid for a map to access Lake Gairdner, which was a great drive and other access to their organ pipe formations and the historic embankment. Highly recommend a visit as I will come back and spend more time as other tracks to explore plus a wide range of animals such as emus, kangaroos, wombats, goats and a variety of bird life of which we saw to large wedgetail Eagles. It was advised that the wildflowers bloom in winter, so it's just starting.

Terrible terrible terrible, use to work for these people and they expect you to work for next to nothing.

Absolutely incredible place.we went there, expecting a rather industrious sheep farm, and were surprised with this stunningly beautiful place, the whimsical arrangements and the more than lovely and charming (careful: dark humor included if the residents are present^^) welcome.

Andrew took such good care of us - he let us move around the camping area however we wanted, so since we almost had the camping area to ourselves over the Christmas holidays, we moved our car 2 times, following the shade of the trees around in our car (37°C.we can see why summer isn't necessarily high season up here! ^^). We ended up putting our hammock in between the branches of a tree right behind the common block and shearer's quarters, as the trees in the camping area were too far apart to be used for that.

The cottages and barbecue area look adorable, and the common room is well equipped with ceiling fans, a proper kitchen (for accommodation bookers only, we had the open-air camping kitchen in a lovely central pavillon at our disposal), many seating possibilities, maps, beautiful photography of the surrounding sights, books, and a huge chess set that we enjoyed a lot - the common room is also very useful for the evenings when there was a combination of rain + hot days, when the bugs are swarming like crazy, and you REALLY don't want to use lights in any camping arrangement that's not 100% sealable.the first night we ended up sacrificing our headlamp as a decoy and only opened the car when all lights inside were off!)

During our stay it went up to almost 40°C, so we didn't manage to go on one of the short hikes in the surrounding hills, but we DID make it to Lake Gairder and enjoyed a magical sunset there, including some water reflections - presumably also from the rain a week before. I kinda ruined my old hiking shoes splashing through the shallow salt water, so be warned.:) There's a billion flies as well but don'tworry, they just want to ride across the salt plains on your hat.and share the food, if you have some.: D Also: be careful and don't fool yourself, the distance across the lake is about 3km, although it looks closer!

Additional recommendation for romantics and space-nerds: if you haven't done so yet, get yourself a star gazing app and put a blanket on the floor when it gets dark - never ever have I been able to identify THAT many constellations, all across the night sky - zodiacs, planets, constellations I've never heard of.it was absolutely mind-blowing and humbling to think about the ancient scientists who must have gone insane when they first realised that those little lights up there were at the same time moving along the horizon and stuck in relation to each other.

Last but not least: bring heat-resistant food or big ice-boxes, and, very importanly: enough water for yourself (we had 10L for 2.5 days including the ride there and back). Make sure you are respectful of the water supply provided. The toilets and showers are incredibly clean (and bug-less, due to the well-placed reminders to close the doors), extremely well maintained and cared for, and if you look out for the little handwritten messages, you will see that Mt. Ive cares about our planet, which includes the awareness that water is a precious good which we should be thankful for in such an arid place <3

We wished we had more time to stay in this trippingly beautiful place - and thank you Andrew for saving us from going back to Adelaide via highways, your roadtrip recommendations through the charming countryside villages were on spot!

Fantastic place. Family & Pet friendly. Great people. Interesting places to visit in the surrounding area and challenging 4x4 driving tracks. Lots of flora and fauna to observe. I will go back to Mt Ive Station. Keep up with the local weather as it can make the roads difficult when & if it rains. Flowers are beautiful after rain. Loved this place.

Great place to visit. Nice and green after the rain, and water in Lake Gairdner made for some great photos.

Sheltered camping spots with camp kitchen. Small tuckshop and bar also on the premises. Lots to explore in the surrounding region including the salt lake Lake Gairdner. Bring your own firewood

Great place to stay with brilliant camp hosts Russell and Michelle. Great 4WD tracks on the property. Don't miss Lake Gairdner. That alone is worth the drive.

Undiscovered piece of south Australia that rivals even the Flinders in terms of expansive views. Accommodation is rustic but clean and well maintained with a comprehensive kitchen in the common room. Hot showers in the bathroom block.

It may be great in your own caravan but otherwise it is freezing cold with no heating, or cooling for that matter, and downright dirty in the stone cottages. No solar outside lighting along paths in pitch black. Nothing done to update facilities in 15 years since last there. There will definitely not be a next time. Bad memories. Only stayed due to being the only place in the area.

Good campsite. Power, Ice and diesel fuel. Good base to explore the Gawler Ranges. 125 K from Iron Knob, 21 Cattle Grids as you come into Mount Ive. 2 hours and about 15 minutes from Iron Knob. Fill up at Port Augusta, and time yourself arrive at Mount Ive by 4.30pm. Good campsite, and power is available. Can be windy and dusty but good base camp. Locals are friendly and helpful. There is no other place to stay in the Gawler ranges with Power. Good trip out to the Lake from here. Plan your trip and enjoy!
