Mount Gambier Hotel

Extremely loud exhausts in the kitchen. Windows cannot be opened. Floor vibrates when kitchen extractor hood is running. Rating of the hotel is incomprehensible to me.

Absolutely stunning renovation and very fitting with the style of the building and the town's heritage! Everything you need provided. The room was incredibly spacious and warm on arrival, and the bed was super comfortable. The restaurant's menus had great choice and room service was prompt and friendly. Loved the little vase with dried florals that came on the room service trays, beautiful touch! All staff I engaged with very friendly and helpful. Great service and the food was delicious. Only a small thing, but was unusual to not have a face towel/cloth. As it was a Friday night, a bit of noise travelled upstairs from diners or gamers. Wasn't overly late and didn't bother me, but others might like to be aware. Quiet room with no other disturbances/noise from the street though!

We enjoyed our stay at the Mount Gambier Hotel. The room was cleaned to perfection. Modern furniture and a comfortable bed. Our room was closest to the street but you can barely hear anything due to the thick glass windows. They had netflix and a few other apps on the TVs plus normal channels, which was great. The room was up a flight of stairs so if you need a ground room I'd recommend calling to request or confirm it. Luckily we didn't need this. The hotel is close to shopping which was great. We didn't eat at the pub attached but the menu looked delicious. Staff were excellent. We would stay there again. Thankyou!

Held a work dinner here.
Staff were lovely, polite, helpful.
Meals came out reasonably quick
But we were told there was a mix up with a lamb meal 3 were ordered and only 2 left.
That was fixed until the meals came out,
We then had four lamb meals and only one that had ordered it.
The rest were all OK
Meals were all cooked OK only 1 person didn't like it.

Stayed in the hotel room which was spectacular. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were fantastic, especially Gina who made sure we knew about all the places to go. Great room and staff!

Did not stay in any rooms as I'm local.
I was in the gaming room for about an hour or so and not once was I offered a coffee or cold drink, other people that came in before and some after were offered drinks of some sort.

The meals are presented beautifully and tasty. We came back 3 times while we were staying in Mount Gambier

Great spacious room, renovated tastefully. Everything was very clean and amenities were of high quality. Also loved the books set as an artistic touch, even gave them a read!

Good for normal meals but maybe don’t bother for special events.

Don’t usually bother to write reviews but unfortunately I found the Christmas lunch experience disappointing. Particularly the service was very underwhelming for Christmas Day. No greeting on arrival or Christmas atmosphere/music.

The seafood platter was nice, meat platter not so good. We had to ask for our dishes to be cleared after the entree after waiting quite awhile, and then ask again for more cutlery for mains after they took them when clearing.

When mains were brought out, four of us had the traditional lunch. One came out complete including peas and gravy, one came out with a small amount of gravy and no peas and two came out with no peas no gravy. No one came past to ask if our meals were ok so we eventually stopped someone to ask why there was no greens on three out of the four plates, they brought out some peas but no apology and seemed confused. The barramundi was also disappointing, particularly the sides. The chicken dish was quite nice.

Pavlova dessert was homemade but was more like a Woolies meringue nest with cream and a couple of slices of strawberry. Would have expected more decoration, maybe some strawberry coulis or passionfruit.

Overall poor considering the amount of money, and we could have paid the same to have Xmas lunch at the commodore which would have also had drinks service at the table. I usually like going to the gambier for normal meals but won’t return for a Xmas lunch. Our whole group left feeling a bit underwhelmed.

I have just stopped by Mount Gambier Hotel for food. The building has great character, the drinks were okay, and the food was very tasty but a bit too oily.

First of all, The attitude was shockin, Carry the luggage to the second floor without elevator!
And Unventilated room.
Big No no!

$28 for a beef schnitzel which was no better or worse than anywhere else, decent size but the neptune topping at $10 was pretty ordinary. The prawns in it were good, however the creamy garlic sauce was brownish in colour, (cooked in a dirty pan) couldn’t taste the garlic and was still fairly runny. As an ex pub cook I honestly could have done better myself. Sorry but st those inflated prices I would expect a perfect meal.

Friendly staff, fish and chips delicious (moist, generous serve), smash burger a little dry and didn’t come together as well as it could (sorry chef), and relaxed environment.

Great room at a good price. Lovely meals too. I left something behind and they offered to post it to me.

Wonderful staff, who were extremely accomodating. Had a great nights stay in a clean and comfortable room.
Couldn’t recommend more!

Stayed one night here and loved it. All the rooms have been recently renovated and are just gorgeous. Much nicer than a lot of much more expensive hotels I've ever stayed in. Spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, nice selection in the mini bar, large TV with netflix etc and Aesop Handwash/Hand cream in the bathroom. Heart of town and very reasonably priced.
Would definitely recommend.

This was my most favorite hotel experience! The rooms are stunning and the food was amazing! (Scotch fillet steak) I felt like a queen
