Michael Perry Botanic Reserve reviews
21Wonderfully maintained reserve with native birds and plants. The walk and ambience is very scenic and calm. Good hilly little pocket getaway in burnside. Perfect for walks alone, in a group and/or with a dog on lead
A short loop around the creek, good for beginners, gorgeous natives and well established trees. Good spot for bird watching. Young children would need to be supervised to avoid falling into the water as parts of the paths are sloped and without any barriers, which adds to the naturalistic charm. Parking is minimal though.
This park is such a dream. We often go here for picnics and lunch at the benches provided. Love it!
This reserve has been beautifully adapted, while both retaining some historic plants from the historic garden that was planted back in the 1800s and then reinvigorating the space with native plants which have encouraged an array of native birds and animals to the area. It is a beautiful area to walk through and it also has seats and picnic tables along with toilet facilities and a drinking fountain. I am excited to keep coming back in order to see all the new plants and trees as they grow.
Lovely small trail in the reserve hidden right next to some houses. Beautiful frees and little stream.
Fun, close, lotsa bird, ppl with dogs, dogs, kid, children, you name it. Its a good getaway from hectic life and screaming wife.
Holy shiet it rhymes.
Beautiful place to walk, short walk amongst beautiful plantings, a lake area to sit and relax under shady trees
So peaceful, such a beautiful way to keep suburbs liveable. Life in noise and busyness isn't real Life.
I found a very “hidden gem” Michael Perry Botanic Reserve in Stonyfell last weekend. This is one of the most iconic protected areas. It was created after the 1970s. You can see many variety of different plants, and some maybe a hundred years old. Walk along the Second Creek, you can see endless water and small waterfalls during the rainy season (June to August)
Highly recommended for hiking there. It is 1.8 kilometers one round, not long but it feels super relaxing and Really love this little reserve! Will be back in the summer!
Pleasant walk along Second Creek. Good pathways, toilet and seating areas to relax and enjoy the park.
Tucked away gem super close to Adelaide City. Kookaburras, frogs, and forrest feeling and smells.
Beautiful morning spent in Michael Perry Reserve, wandering around with Botanist Mark. Amazing trees and gardens.
There is a lot of work being done and it shows. I appreciate that an old style garden is established alongside areas of native vegetation.
The old architecture of dams and cascades, old growth trees with thick canopies and new garden beds give plenty of photo opportunities.
A nicely hidden reserve that has surprisingly little crowd considering its natural beauty. Perfect for a calm evening walk where, even with the sun shining down hard, you get complete shade due to the dense tree canopy. Some very old trees here and a small lake add to its beauty. Lovely for a small picnic. Note that you may face some mosquitoes in the evenings so go prepared.
Lovely reserve. Nice walk around the creek loop that was perfect for puppies first public walk.
A great local find on your doorstep. Felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with the trees birds and steam around us. The kids loved it.
One of the best parks to walk the dog or do light exercise. With such an array of different plant life in the setting of the ever running Second Creek - pure magic!
The junkyard, about a 15 minute walk past the no trespassing gate (hole in fence approx 10m to left). A brilliant place to enjoy a Cleary day
It is a hidden garden with amazing trees in such a small dell. I cannot persuade myself to tell this place to everyone because I do not want to see too many tourists to ruin it.
