Marino Meat and Food Store reviews
22Ive been coming here for a little while now. The meat is fantastic quality and service is excellent. Today, they exceeded my expectations. They prepared my yiros meat on the spot. By far the best butcher in the Market.
I got a takeaway porchetta panini. Service was lightning fast, and ultimately, it was DELICIOUS.
Pulled pork sandwiches are 1/2 meat and 1/2 full fat. You have to be continually picking chunks of fat out of your mouth. The first bite tastes great, the second good, when you have half of the sandwich you are already noticing that it is not going to sit well with you. One and no more.
The Porchetta Panini with slaw was unreal! Simple but so flavoursome and great value. A cool little space watching the Porchettas roast away with great service.
The porchetta panini we had was delicious. Really authentic with broccoli rabe (which we have found hard to find elsewhere in Australia).
Very polite And outstanding service, The range of salumi is to die for hand made and authentic. Overall am very pleased
Quick takeaway porchetta panini from @marinomeatandfood: soooooo good! The crackling was and the panini was super juicy and savoury.
My parents shopped at Marino's at the Market for years. Always fresh quality meat, smallgoods etc. Something has changed and unfortunately its not the same these days.
Called a week ahead to purchase a fresh whole turkey in November. Arrived to pick it up (after I was told I could arrive at any time because it would be ready) at 10am. They pulled out two 12kg fresh turkeys - which as it turned out weren’t for me (as I’d ordered a 5kg bird). Told me my turkey hadn’t arrived so I drove back home and returned a few hours later (about 2 hours of driving total for me). Was given a frozen whole turkey at $15kg. Couldn’t eat the turkey the next day given how big it was it didn’t defrost in time, so went to local butcher to feed my dinner guests a few chickens. The turkey I was given was Ingham’s brand - which is at Woolworths for $7 a kg. Absolutely no apologies from the team at Marino and they were incredibly rude over the phone. Apparently they can’t control what their meat providers send, which doesn’t seem like my problem. $75 in the hole and didn’t even get to eat the thing when I was meant to.
The porchetta panini smelled really porky but not in a good way. The bread was hard and cold. Coleslaw was really mixed bitter cabbage.
I've not tried their cannenoli but thought the porchetta was quite yummy and filling. The serving sizes were decent. The salad especially the lettuce wasn't the best though. There was a hard and inedible bit. Yours truly @fooderarri
I was starving walking through the markets and quickly saw the opportunity to buy a porchetta roll - I was a bit hesitant to see it had wild broccoli, but these guys obviously know what they’re doing. The flavour and texture medley of soft pork fat, salt, and the crunch of brittle crackling complement the wild broccoli well. Reasonably priced at $13.50 and the portion is “just right”.
Wow that original bread roll from the deli in the market was just foul! So much fatty meat and the combo of the strong cheese, vinegar salad and spicy sauce was really quite awful. I can normally eat anything but I had the throw nearly all the 15 dollar baguette away. Not my cup of tea that's for sure
I am always happy with my selection of sausages, cold cuts and fresh pasta. They also carry a lot of the pickled items I like. The range of salumi is impressive. Service is usually very friendly.
I used to love the place, coming every week for meat and poultry. It was great service, great recommendations and plenty of choice, on top of extra service Marino were happy to offer such as custom cuts or custom orders in advance.
Until I was sold meat that was no good the moment I took it out of the bag. It happened twice in a row and I came back to advise of this if any stock needed to be checked. I felt loyal to the store as a customer. I received apologies and decided to give it a third shot. And the same day, I was reassured there was fresh meat as of that day and was sold chicken that got bad yet again.
I can deal with mediocre service, if that would be the case, which it was not. But I spent about $60 on three occasions that then had to be thrown out, and no change to the situation. And after this bitter aftertaste, I'm sorry to say, but it's hard to come back.
The Porchetta e Cannoli bar might look impressive but doesn’t deliver. Behind the counter you’ll see a wonderful rotisserie cooking beautiful pieces of pork with the skin transforming into beautiful crackling. So as you can imagine I was expecting fresh, tender, juicy pieces of pork but instead got tough, dry pieces in my porchetta plate. Not what I was envisaging after seeing the fresh pork being cooked in front of my eyes. Not to mentioned cold potatoes. I suppose they just don’t have the turnover that would enable the fresh pieces being roasted to be served to the customer that day/night and they inevitably end up having excess meat the serve over the following nights which is reheated.
I've had the porchetta panini from their porchetta and cannoli bar twice now and disappointing both times. It's literally just an flavourless porchetta with a slaw steeped in vinegar, shoved in a white roll. No sauce, no crackling, tasteless. Really lazy output.
I bought beef spare ribs and I noticed when I got home they where a bit smelly and the colour on some part if the ribs very much on the way out. And you paid premium money for it. Never again.
They have a nice range of fresh & dry pasta, sauces, cheeses, fresh meats & smoked meats eg ham, prosciutto, salami etc as well as coffee and assorted imported tinned & bottled products.
They are real buthchers.not the fake pre pack meat which is processed in Vic. The GREAT range. All thier pork and other meat are all 100%Australian
