They treat you like prisoners. They won’t even let you walk from the hospital to MT. (They make u sit in a wheelchair) they take all jewellery even newly pieces ears and give you medication even if you don’t want to. All staff are extremely rude and the place is riddled with MSS security.

Just rang to see if they accept walk ins and the person I spoke to was very blunt and didn't even offer me alternatives for mental health emergency options or seem to care that I was reaching out and obviously needed help.

Much better than the private overpriced Adelaide Clinic.
First time coming into the public system phyc ward. The place is outdated, yet the staff are kind.
As for any place of work you get good and bad staff. The doctor they had for me was understanding and helped me with my skin issue to. Psychiatrist was fine. The OT is so valuable and make sure you get to see one when you are there. Food gets boring after a month of eating salads. So try everything if you aren't able to get leave.

As the Husband of a seriously ill person at the time I can only describe the experience at Margaret Tobin centre as old School psychiatry, cruel and more liken to a prison set up. A staff ratio of primarily MSS security guards ready and willing to pin down and assault the smallest of patients. A small woman on one occasion being faced by 4 security guards and 2 male nurses. It's an embarrassment of a system and waist of Tax payer money. When psychiatry fails they throw you out into ward 5J to be looked after by security guards and absolutely no interaction between nurses to patients. A lazy system worked by lazy overpaid staff. If your not feeling mentally well you'd be better off just killing yourself cos if you were broken when going into MT, you'll be totally broken when they release you.

Irresponsible, willfully ignorant, actively cruel staff who take out their frustrations on patients as though they are their own personal emotional punching bags. The psychiatrist there told me he doesn't believe in hospital admissions (for mental health). Well, what's the point of this, then?
Extremely abusive atmosphere.

Just watch "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" instead. It's where the nurses get their ideas from.

I thought that for staff talking 'smack' about ex-paitents to current patients would be a breach of confidentiality, obviously not, this has happened twice now to me, what does this mean to me?

I question whether or not they ever had my interest at heart.lack of professionalism! Sorry but honestly. I appreciate the care they gave to me whilst I was 'mentally sick', but what right does some psychiatrist have to tell my ex-support worker in a tribunal hearing that I'm delusional about a passionate and creative pathway that I pursue?

Anyways, I was crying at the tribunal table and not one 'professional' there even asked me how I was feeling.

Thanks for your help Margaret

The staff looked after my brother well in the time that he was there. The only negative thing I have to say is that the staff were rude and incompetent. My brother had been discharged that morning and as he lives in Victor Harbour he asked me if I could take the wristband back to the hospital as he had accidenty taken it home. When i arrived there was nobody at reception and I knocked on a window nearby which 2 nurses came to and had no idea what I was trying to say. I explained to them about my brother being discharged from hospital and showed them the wristband and his name tag Tbey didn't bother to check his records or details and asked me what ward he was in? I had no idea I was told earlier by a nurse who had called my brother to hand it in and mention his name at reception. I could have been anyone and if was a nurse or receptionist I would have at least signed off that the wristband had been returned or called someone to explain to them what had happened.

Having never been in a psych ward and being unaware that I even had a problem they helped me achieve insight into my condition. I had my own room. They protected me from myself at an important time in my life. Family that visited were treated well and given information.

Nurses should be trained how to speak to visitors. Arrogant and pathetic response to visitor, seems like you have done a crime. Management please fix this issue.

After trying to hurt myself I willingly approached The Margaret Tobin centre for a short inpatient treatment. I truly feel if I didn't receive such personable kind, accepting treatment I wouldn't be here today. Absolutely amazing! Thanks doesn't even cut it. In all sincerity, thankyou

Doctors trust collateral history more than patients, you get treated like a criminal. The nurses are nice.

Just like the rest of Flinders, the Disabled Parking is pathetic. Parking full stop is pathetic. The psychiatrists are good, though.

These people don't help anyone, only make them worse, Needs to be closed down, and never opened again, I will be suing this place for being neglectful,
