These reviews are for the previous business called Maggis Cafe, the new Indian resteraunt only opened on the 11th August 2023
We recently moved to Moonta Bay and have tried all the local restaurants, Maggi's beats them all.
Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere and Peter made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped through the door.
Opening night for the Indian Grill was hectic! But we waited patiently and were rewarded with a lovely tasty meal. Goat curry and Chicken Saag with garlic Naan bread. Good wine list.
We had the barramundi with capers and the kids had spring rolls and chicken tenders. The barramundi was really good but I really dislike capsicum, so was disappointed that it was throughout the caper butter sauce. Kids loved their meals. The ledge at eye level along the wall beside our table was unclean so that was slightly off-putting. Overall a great dinner.
Wide menu, which is never a great sign, but somehow managed to pull it off! Never had clam pasta, beef mussaman and viet salad on the same table; but each were great.
Great food, service and really got looked after. Thanks Peter and Paul also the cook such delicious food. Will return when in Moonta again.
We had an excellent Christmas meal here! Charcuterie board, cool Riesling, antipasto, salmon pie, pork belly, baked cheesecake, plum pudding with brandy custard - all of it was fantastic. The service was superb I highly recommend this restaurant, and we'll be back.
First time dined at this restaurant. I will never go back, and won't recommend to anyone. The older man at the counter was not friendly. Even rude to my kids. Food portion small but not cheap. Food quality below average. Coffee milk over burned. And they even charged me fee for coffee mugs. A bit ridiculous. I thought to support local business in this small down but ended up with full of disappointment. If you go to Moonta, go to cafe capella's. Everything is much better over there.
We enjoyed a great meal this week, we recommend both the Duck la Orange and the Moroccan Cauliflower Steak. Our husbands ate steak and ribs and both really enjoyed their meals. Friendly service, and happy to cater for gluten free and vegan meals.
Maggi's Cafe Restaurant has to be Moonta's best kept secret. This gem of a restaurant offers a lovely, relaxing atmosphere, friendly service, and spectacular food! We ordered the seafood platter to share and it was simply awesome. Generous portions, the scallops were stunning, fresh oysters, calamari melted like butter, superb fish, and great prawns. Thanks guys. We'll be back
Absolutely awesome food and the staff are very friendly. Certainly will be coming back next time.
We had a delightful family dinner here while on holiday in Moonta. The service was fast, and the owner was incredibly friendly and excellent with our kiddos. Seafood was excellent. Would be happy to return!
Take away a la carte. Fantastic menu. Ordered the Tofu and Chicken Laksa, Chicken Snitz, Crumbed Prawns and Braised Pork Ribs for the family. Ample serves of mouth watering food. Busy little restaurant with dining in or takeaway. Service was excellent and only had a 15 minute wait for food even though they were extremely busy. A must is ever I. Moonta.
What a find! We went to Maggys for lunch and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day and again the food and service was outstanding. We are taking our family there again before we go home. This is what Moonta needs it’s family owned, professional, relaxed, friendly sincere staff and a great selection of food at good prices and most importantly…delicious!
First time experiencing Maggie’s cafe in Moonta and I’m so glad to have a new “go to” restaurant. Wonderful and friendly service, the laksa was delicious and the ambience like nothing else on the copper coast. Plus so many gluten free options! See you again very soon!
Waited half an hour and didn't have anyone come to us. Everyone else around us was served. There was also a mouse in the dining room. Poor table service. Menu looked lovely, pity we didn't get a chance to sample it.
Reply to owners comment: We were asked if we had a booking, but was told of no wait time. It was half an hour as we timed it after 2 groups of people that entered after us were greeted and served. We did not even have anyone come and take a drink order, which shouldn't have been difficult. However your front of house person was very happy to talk with another group for quite some time. I'm sorry, you can reply with excuses all you want, but we won't be returning.
Great cafe quality food, went for dinner with 4 kids, very accommodating and great customer service
Absolutely fabulous, wonderful people, extrodinary food, great atmosphere. Highly recomend. Will definately be back. Do yourself a favour and book a meal here, you will not regret it.
