Spoke to Penny. She was absolutely amazing and really helped me. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves.

This service doesn't really do anything to support mental health. You have to be suicidal to even get some help. I'm not sure how professional the people are either and if they do really keep what you speak about on the phone private.

I want to share a brief, personal benefit, from contacting this Lifeline 24/7 Phone Contact in Adelaide Uniting Care Franklin Street:
I have seen on the News how many more people are contacting all the Not for Profit Support phone line Services. From fears of not being safe, to anxiety - increase in blood pressure, depression and loneliness.
I had phoned several. They were all so regretful, they were all fully booked - out.
I had the belief, Lifeline was primarily for when we feel on the Edge, and feel powerless, with no Options, or ways out, and through our Crisis that Suicide is a serious possibility.
I believed, others, who were desperately in this horrible emotional state, would be better “ candidates “ for Lifeline, than myself.
I was very mistaken.

I want to leave this review primarily to the Woman Support Worker, who answered my call.
While at the same time, acknowledging their Overall Service Australia Wide.

The Woman, listened at length. And towards the end, as most of my information had been shared, and understood, offered a number of very practical suggestions.
I was also asked specific questions, which took me out of my heavy emotional state, enough, to engage my intelligence, to think, carefully, about her questions.
I was not bombarded, with questions. Those asked, were specific, to what my issue was.

I have put into effect her suggestions.
And as many others, I rely a lot, on a closeness with God. And figured out, that at these times, talking to another human being, is also, just as vital.

I am still like many other 60+ year olds, without family, challenged by my circumstances.

Thank you, to that Support Worker Crisis Counsellor.

Here in Australia we are fortunate to have so many Free Services.
And Mental Health, through these not for profit funded Organisations, is more recognised, validated and of importance than a Decade ago.

All the very best.

I received some advice about other places to contact for help, but, as soon as the Counsellor established that I was not actually suicidal, just needing advice and support during a very hard time, she got me off the phone as fast as she could. Did not help me at all with the situation I was dealing with, unfortunately.

This photo shows the Northern face of the United Communities building. The main carpark is opposite with a side view being Western to a separate carpark. A large bike rack area is allocated for at the bottom of the main carpark for. At the time of these photos a large scale LEGO display was situated in the foyer depicting the architectural design of the building. A bar and cafe style service area was also available for public and office patrons.

Ok, so I am a little biased because I work for UC, but I can genuinely say that it is a wonderful organisation with brilliant services and programs. You just have to look at the website to see the variety of services offered to those within our community who need help and support the most. It is also the home of Lifeline Adelaide. A brilliant, essential service that literally saves lives. Uniting Communities does wonderful work and legitimately wants to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Just brilliant.

How has lifeline actually physically helped anyone? Out of about ten times ringing these clowns what was achieved? NOTHING! They have no plan other than sucking the Government's money! I highly doubt that as many people in Australia have been impacted by suicide like I have! (Don't read this like I'm a threat to myself or anyone else! As I'm definitely not!) But if your in a position that you are PLEASE SEEK PROFESSIONALS HELP! And here is the problem have these clowns got any professional accreditations? Ring and ask for an information pack (they don't have one!) Ask for a referral to a professional (you won't get one!) Hell they won't even tell you the name of the person your talking to! They have no contingency plans! There simply untrained volunteers that in my opinion have no business playing games with people! There is zero accountability and there process is far from transparent! My fear is that these people are now supposed to be the first point of call in Australia and honestly that scares the HELL out of me! My cousin won the Margaret Tobin award for mental health nursing in this state and she spent year's in training with an absolute passion for helping people in the Mental health system! LIFELINE couldn't give RAT'S about anything more than getting government assistance for themselves! And god help these people who are living in positions of debt or on the street's older Australian's or computer illiterates as like LIFELINE always say just get on the internet as all there resource's are online! I simply wanted to share my experiences about these clowns as my biggest fear is people thinking this organization is there last hope! Like I've always said to people doing it tuff "tomorrow can be a better day" never give up hope and don't trust getting 1 organization involved putting all of your LIFE'S EGG'S IN ONE BASKET! As there is no substitute for health professionals! Dr's, emergency services, church group's (and I'm not religious at all!) But on that note "BEWARE OF FALSE PROFITS" And there is no larger false profits in Australia in my opinion than these snakes at LIFELINE! Stay safe please people life is a blessing and something to fight for! LIFELINE stop trying to B#LLSH×T some of the most valuable vulnerable people in our community
