Laratinga Wetlands reviews
40Amazing walks among nature. All paths are well developed and extremely flat. Full loop takes about 30 minutes but there are cut through paths to make it shorter if need.
Nice calm place for a picnic. Take your food and cycle and enjoy. Shelter, water, wash room available. About 35 km from Adelaide.
Like spending time there and casually walking around enjoying the bird life. B B Q facilities available if required and grassed areas for the children to enjoy some games.
5 stars for a super peacefull and calming walk close to suburban Mt Barker. Plenty of parking - no maps around but not so hard to find your way around
It's an award winning wetlands, with several excellent ponds with are home to many water birds and excellent walking/ Riding trails throughout.
Laratinga is my go to for a walk in the Adelaide Hills - dog friendly and many others to pass by and wave to. It is an easy trail to walk as it's flat and wide. It attaches to park runs and another path to follow which means you can do a short or long loop!
Great setting to exercise or walk in company or enjoying some solace, no matter your choice, the surrounds are peaceful ️️
Great area to go for a walk, ride bikes with the kids, have a break and lunch on the lawns and watch a great many water birds.
Gorgeous place for a walk and a little bird watching.great use of water/wastewater treatment. Lovely picnic area with bbq, grass, shelter, toilets.
I would love to see some more interpretive materials about the freshwater ecology of this area and the people who used to live here.
I would love to see more wetlands everywhere! There was a coffee van in the car park at one stage - anyone know where it went?
Beautiful parklands. Well maintained trails. Lovely streams and ponds. Picnic area with under cover bbq facilities.
Beautiful surroundings with BBQ areas and shelter dotted around maintained lawn areas. Flat walking trails.
Always a pleasant walk.
We have been visiting these wetlands for years. The trees and shrubs matured and now look like they been here forever. Whoever is doing the upkeep they are doing an excellent job.
The bird population changes season to season and year on year. A couple of years ago when there was a widespread dust storm the outback ducks discovered Laratinga and they are maintaining their presence ever since. I have just posted photos of Australian Shoveler. Pink eared ducks are around the water treatment ponds, you can see them through the fence.
There are some interesting vagrants every time we visit. This weekend it was the Blue billed duck, photo posted. Chestnut and Grey teals seem to be residents.
Clamorous read warblers were out in the open posing for photos.
I am looking forward to our next visit.
Beautiful serene walks of varying lengths. Great BBQ facilities. The wetlands is part of a linear park track that takes you from Adelaide Rd Mt Barker to new sports grounds further east toward the actual summit.
Really like bringing my dog here for walks, would be a lot more interesting if there were more board walks over the wetlands though
Nice walking grounds with pathways along the wetlands. Highly recommended to people who love nature as a variety of plants and birds to see. Pathways are clearly marked and mostly level suitable for all fitness levels & prams/scooters/bikes. Plenty of undercover BBQ area too.
A lovely place for an easy walk, bike ride, bird watching, family stroll, or just quiet serenity.
Lovely, relaxing place for a reconnecting-with-nature stroll. Very busy, at all hours. Some great photo opportunities, especially birds and ducks. Blue Wrens are particularly common.
Unfortunately due to bad weather, the hiking group that I was with had to cut our walk short. However there was sufficient shelter there and toilet facilities
Beautiful walk around large areas of water used to filter sewerage the natural way.
Lots of birds around
