Kenny Blake Memorial Statue reviews
17An amazing sculpture dedicated to an incredible man. Made from all sorts of donated metal, the visor on the helmet is made from nails! The sculpture is very definitely worth the pleasant drive to Strathalbyn, even if it's all you see. The whole town of Strathalbyn is a living museum. The Victoria Hotel has amazing architecture. Highly recommend this to anyone interested in Australian history.
Stumbled on this cracking piece. Love it. Wish I had two wheels to ride from Strathy up in to the Adelaide Hills
Must see - excellent sculpture - amazing largely unknown australian motorcycle legend before the new age large dollar sponsorship deals made motorcycle racing easier
Amazing road rider statue made up of old tools, spark plugs and scrap metal yet capture the look of a moment of action! Very imaginative and many tourists were touching and looking, attracting much attention.
This is fantastic, so worth stopping and having a look, nice pub and coffee shop just across the road
Amazing statue of motor bike rider. It's really nicely mounted for display. The more you look at it, the more hand tools, car parts, bike parts, machinery parts etc that you see. Easy parking so you can have a good look at it & the car park has public toilets as well.
The statue is fantastic well worth a drive to strathalyn to see the bike and have a walk round the town and lunch
Great place for an afternoon drive and a few drinks at The Hood across the road and a delicious lunch or dinner. Menu is excellent and good size servings. Kenny Blake memorial is worth a few photos too, made entirely by hand and loose parts.
Fantastic art creation, all from metal scraps&old tools.take ages4artist2build (almost year) ; but it has turned out better than expected&better than shows up in photos. This is a great way to remember a strathalbyn born native-whommade it big in motorbike racing in 70's, all around australia racing on tracks-pity his life was cut so short so soon!
A brilliant sculpture of Kenny riding his motor bike but I go past daily, opposite The Robin Hood, a good spot for a beer and a meal. Always people looking at the sculpture.
The memorial is an awesome piece of art. The detail using so many mechanical bits of junk. Entry of great foods and sights to see locally too.
Beautifully constructed and given the enjoyable endpoint Strathalbyn is for bike riders this is especially poignant.
Simply beautiful, the only disappointment was the amount of litter that had been discarded. Regardless of there not being a rubbish bin is no reason to leave your trash. It only took me just under 10 minutes to pick it all up & locate a bin. Let's set good examples for our young & have some pride. Definitely a place to visit & let your children enjoy being children ️
What a tribute to a remarkable rider. A must see at Strathalbyn for anyone who loves art that means something.
Wow, just. WOW! What a fitting tribute to Ken Blake. The thought and care that has gone into this sculpture is absolutely incredible. Definitely a 'must visit' if you're touring around South Australia.
Excellent.sculpture.it was interesting to see what the artist had used to make up the parts to the artwork. Must see when in Strathalbyn.
Excellent sculpture made from numerous bits and pieces. A must see when visiting Strathalbyn so you can truly appreciate the work put into it.
