Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park reviews
62We did the private animal encounter and were able to have experiences with so many more animals than we expected! Our guide Steve was so knowledgeable and patient and allowed us a lot of time to ask questions and interact with each beautiful animal. Holding the koala and seeing the rehabilitation for orphaned animals was the highlight for me! This is a must-do if you are visiting KI! The animals are so well cared for and the staff is so friendly! If we are ever on kangaroo island again, we will be sure to visit!
Great little wildlife park! I spent a couple of hours taking it all in.and having a snuggle with Pearl the koala Highly recommend popping in to support this local business who do fantastic animal conservation work.
Do not recommend - way too small enclosures and rundown. A lot of the animals looked really sad and a lot of international animals (ie. African cats, meerkats, American alligators etc) which do not belong here.
Disappointed that I paid any money to this place
At the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park it is possible to see many of the animals that characterize the Australian fauna up close. Kangaroos, wombats, dingoes, koalas, quokkas, but also many birds and reptiles. Many of these animals are guests of the park because - after having been rescued or cared for - it is no longer possible to release them back into the wild. Inside the park it is possible to carry out many paid activities: from holding a koala to feeding the kangaroos and others. The park is also very suitable for younger children and could be a place to spend an interesting half day.
We booked a private tour at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. This was the absolute HIGHLIGHT of our three-week tour of southern Australia.
My wife and I were led through the park by the zookeeper for about 3 hours. We were able to express our wishes right from the start, which animals we really wanted to see and what we didn't want to see. We were then thoroughly entertained with lots of information and great background stories about the individual animals and the wildlife park in general. It was very entertaining and the time flew by. We were in many enclosures and were able to interact with and feed the animals. It was really impressive how dedicated the employees are to their job.
We were able to pet baby koalas, hold Alfie the koala (an incredible experience), feed wallabies, kangaroos, parrots, little penguins, interact with monkeys and echidnas in the marmoset enclosure and much more.
The price for the private tour is really not cheap. But we would really recommend that everyone who can afford the money take advantage of this unique experience in the wildlife park. This experience cannot be compared to a “normal” park visit.
This cozy wildlife park is easy to get to and priced reasonably. The small selection of animals were all happy and well fed, healthy, and comfortable engaging with the visitors. This was a joy to experience. We fed wallabies and kangaroos and had an unbelievably close encounter with several calm koalas. I really enjoyed this visit.
The staff were so friendly and the koala keeper chat we went to was amazing. Despite us coming right at the end the lovely staff member stayed, chatted and was so kind towards my toddler who fell in love with the quokka.
It's a must see in KI
Absolutely wonderful place. Excellent hands on animal experiences and friendly keepers willing to answer questions with great knowledge and a real passion for the animals in their care!
Nice way to spend a couple hrs with the kids. Much bigger variety of animals than I expected. Friendly staff. Have a couple of paid animal encounter options as add ons.
One of the best wildlife park in Australia, but they’ve stopped penguin feeding since covid which is sad.still 100% worth the visit!
Great interactive Zoo my 9 and 6 year old loved it. Definitely a must if you go to Kangaroo Island.
The koalas are so lovely and the park's staff are caring and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
When we first walked in, I was a little concerned that we rented KIC vehicle and pre purchased a private tour from KIWP… at the end of the day I was THRILLED with the expenditure! Our guide Shany was SUPER knowledgeable, and had plenty of stories to keep the tour interesting and fun!
The private tour included feeding most and holding some of the animals in the park! We went behind the scenes and got to feed one of the Joeys with a bottle of formula!
100% worth it! Soooo much fun!
Whilst not the biggest of wildlife parks, the animals were excellent, and the staff incredible in the way that they were very friendly, highly knowledgeable, and they all seemed to genuinely give you the time of day.
We did the koala holding experience too, and we had a good amount of time with the koala. We were not rushed through, and everyone seemed to get the same treatment too. Absolutely worth doing!
It's a must place to visit when you go to Adelaide. Because of the traveling time so be prepare it will be a big day.
A small but interesting fauna park that allows close interactions with some of the animals. Loved the koala photo opportunity. Staff were very friendly, informative and helpful.
I've been this island about 10 years ago, I still love this park and I'll go back there one day in the future
. And these pictures are about 10 years ago.
What a great place to look around Animals in there natural surrounds, things to see that you would not expect!
The staff were so friendly and helpful, the Park and the enclosures were clean and well looked after. We were able to enter some enclosures and feed the Wallabies and kangaroos. I got to hold a Koala which was the highlight of my day️
