Jan's Fish Chips Chickery

This is the best chicken shop. They are the nicest people, so friendly and their gravy is the best. Their chickens have so much flavour, so juicy and plump. The salads are yummo. Definitely the best around glenelg in my opinion.

First visit and I ordered the chick schnizel, chips and gravy. The chips were really nice and the same with the gravy. The only down side was the schnitzel was all cut up and went dry.

Amazing food and best customer service you will find from a fish and chips shop. Very friendly staff who accommodate for different needs.

Whoever made my dinner tonight made the chips and fish sensational. Loved the fish tasted fresh and chips were cooked perfectly how I like it. The perfect amount of chicken salt

A very dated shop - we checked the ratings before trying.
It was ok but i think fish and chips at any of the beaches would have been better.
We found many at Glenelg and Brighton.

Traditionally our go-to local for fish and chips, but quality took a nose dive tonight. Potentially a result of the potato shortage, the chips and potato fritters were a clearly different brand - thin, tasteless, and lacking any seasoning. Not the thick, almost yellow chips you’ll see in older photos. I’ll be avoiding going back until they bring up the quality back to the gold standard they once had.

No nonsense and quick. Fantastic fried shrimp that was honestly better than most places I've tried around this area that are way "fancier. " Friendly service and not overbearing. Will be a repeat customer for sure.

Always had great service here. Very quick, good quality food for the price and very friendly staff.

Unfortunately not the best chicken I have had but have been spoilt by going to charcoal chicken in newton and chicken chef Blair Athol.so possibly not a fair review.

Great staff and service. The food is good value for money. The local community loves this shop. The owner can remember the usual customer’s name and what they like to order. Nice shop! Definitely recommend to friends and colleagues!

We won't be eating from here again. We had very burnt roast potatoes last time. Husband mentioned that tonight. An apology was given. Again, we were given very burnt potatoes. Chicken well done too. I took a photo but unfortunately can't post.

So not happy with Jans fish and chips glenelg east got large chips and alot of them have mould on them and are rotten, i rang them and she said yeah our Supplier gave them to us like that and we know about it but we still sell them.she said refund but Totally unacceptable to serve this to people!

Service was great, friendly, efficient.

My first experience there tonight as I'm new to the area. 2 bits of butterfish and medium chips for just over 14 bucks. Perfectly (and quickly) cooked. Total value for money! Keep up the good work, and keep them prices down. Cheers Jan's! As Arnold would say. I'll be back.

Follow up: - Been back multiple times now. Had the 'Burger with the Lot' tonight. Very good. Jan's is very good and the prices are spot on. 14 bucks for the burger and small chips. The chips were very generous too for only being small.

Generally very good value for money but why you would place a cold salad inside a hot fish and chip pack defies belief. The salad container is so small you can hardly get a fork in it and no lemon.

Love the food and service here, foods are delicious, Roast chicken are tender, juicy and well marinated. Salad seasoned perfect, also great portions.

Staff are well trained, friendly, and always be prepared.

Simply the best in town.

Easily the best chicken and chips in the area! Chips are crispy and beautiful potato quality, also wrapped old style which is awesome. Very flavoursome large chickens, with plenty of yummy stuffing to keep the whole family happy. Really friendly service, easy parking, a lovely clean shop, and very reasonable prices. Delicious!

First time ordering fish and chips from here tonight. It was 6 pm and they were quite busy but this did not affect the quality of food. Fish was lovely and batter crunchy, chips and seafood sticks also yum. Thanks chefs…will definitely be back
