Place is an absolute landfill. Worst rink I’ve ever been in. Overpriced, ice is awful, it’s dirty, and the dressing rooms are laughable.

This place is amazing!
great place to take the kids for a good time and to try something new.hot chips are amazing especially if Simon makes them (extra crispy)
definitely recommend this place during the summer as it is a great place to cool off and have some fun.

Wednesday $19 with skates for skating is brilliant. 3 rinks were open after 9pm. Staff were great too. Food and drink a little pricey but I was expecting that. But can’t knock it really. Good place to keep fit for a cheap price.

Excellent fun day out for families. Excellent treatment and followup of a concerning issue, the young men on the day took concerns seriously and did an immediate follow up.

Absolutely foul behaviour from the female cashier, ive walked in and she’s obviously had a bad day and gave me an attitude as i’m trying to find my money, she should not be working there!

Very dated, filthy dirty and falling apart around the seams.
Party food was shocking, staff never smiled once.
And if you are happy for your kids to play amongst the black mold and breath it in, then this place is for you, but please don't.

I hate to give this venue 3 stars, I really do.

I was excited to get my partner into ice-skating and I had really been looking forward to our visit to the Icearena. I used to take lessons here as a kid and have skated at thebarton on and off up through out my teens and 20s until a few years ago.

The pros are that there's now a third ice rink to skate on that bridges the gap between the small beginner friendly area and the large rink. This was a huge surprise!
This was fantastic, more area to skate and more space for everyone!

The entrance area has had a desperately needed facelift and there's now a games/chill area that's no longer seperate from the rinks.
It's definately a better layout, you can easily watch friends on the ice now but it looks unfinished and a bit thrown together (not a huge deal, Its far more practical and kids were having a lot of fun on the games).

The cons unfortunately hit me hardest.
The biggest and most important one is the hire skates.

What a serious downgrade: (

Gone were those heavy yet study hardshell figure skates (which were a huge pain for wide feet), now replaced with flimsy, slightly broken plastic skates with blades that felt too swivelly on the ice. Admittedly I've only ever tried hire skates throughout my life but they've always felt stable and bit the ice when using edges, but these were so unsteady and wobbly to skate on, no grip on the ice at all.

The ratchet strap was fully tightened on my foot, toes at the end but there was still wiggle room width wise for my foot. The plastic shell was cracked in places and the blades felt more rockered when walking round the floor. Maybe they hadn't been sharpened, I don't know why they felt so different from the old heavy, straight blades but my partner also noticed the difference too.

Performance was terrible. Skating felt unsteady and even after a few laps of trying to adjust to these, it was a task. For kids starting out or adults who pick these up for the first time, I can't help but feel they might be put off from trying again or pursuing skating further.

My other cons are barely worth a mention, but the haphazard barracade at the end of the new rink wasn't the best and we got ignored at the canteen for a good 5 minutes but these are minor things.

Overall we had a fun time and it brought back so much joy to be ice-skating again.

But I can't get past those hire skates!
They were just bad.
The last rink I went to was the pop up rink in Victoria square for the winter festival and even those hire skates felt weighty, stable and responsive.
Please, if anything needs the upgrade, it's this, better skates to inspire people to want to skate more!

The Icearena looks a little sad inside, it's been needing work done for years, but the rinks are maintained and apart from the actual ice and the skates that's the only thing I genuinely care about.

Absolutely feral.
Mould on walls.
Toilets filthy and had only been open for two hours.
Told admin twice that there was no toilet paper and that there was blood on toilet seats.
Don't think this place has seen a coat of paint since I was here in the early 90's

I wouldn't recommend, this place unless you have skates yourself because the ice skates they have are really bad and they leave your ankles sore and bruised. When you ice skate there are some place that are not smooth as usual like in corners there are some deep holes that can make you fall. Also in the corners there are some disgusting mold parts where you skate and also in the underground parking.

Loved it but I think there should be a space for parties for kids that haven't learnt how to skate but still have other skating arena's

Good little ice rink however desperately needs some maintenance as the ice around the boards is accumulating and making the ice wavy instead of flat, it's starting to become a WH&S hazard. This will need to be fixed before someone really gets hurt.ice is meant to be flat.

Love watching my friend play Ice Hockey for the Jokers on Saturdays
Couple of bars set up with a nice selection of drinks, it's had a little upgrade and I really like it

A really fun place to spend an hour or two if you're free. Personally my first time ice skating and really struggled at the beginning but got the hang of it, Wasn't much direction by staff of where to go etc but found the way without much hassle. Good place to go with friends for a laugh if you've never tried

The guy who runs this place was on the news attempting to strangle a young boy. Won’t be taking my kids back here!

A good place for watching ice hockey games in the evenings, lots of ice skating training for all ages, it is quite marvellous to see little ones on the ice & skating with confidence

It has been so many years since ive been here and man its changed & sadly not in a good way, the place seemed all over the place there was not much cleanliness the toilets were flooded, i checked 3 sanitizes none in any and i only seen 3 staff on and it was so busy! The rinks were small and crowded & for $26 its not worth it.the place needs a big sort out.

Located near the thebarton tram stop the IceArena is such a convient place to waste time on a hot day. I’m pretty bad at skating but friendly staff and quick service made the experience non stressful and fun.

Before getting on the ice i got a hot chocolate which was the perfect temperature and very well made.

They are currently renovating so it was a bit loud with the construction but there isn’t much that can be done about that. Although it did mean that they had three ice skating rinks and not many people so there was heaps of space to skate!

Little disappointed. Called multiple times to enquire about skate sharpening with the inability to answer the phone - messaged the facebook page to just be left on read with my response about price.
Came in and was directed to the skate hire to be told no one was in to do it, but asked if I could leave them with them till it’s able to be done and was directed back to an extremely grumpy and rude receptionist, who was more blunt than the blades on my skates.
Given it’s the only place to skate in Adelaide i’ll probably come back, but i think people skills, communication & management need major improvement.

I enjoy coming here for practicing, i'm from a synchronised skating club. The experience here is always nice, and staff are always willing to help with anything. However the skates provided are not in great quality, and usually the tongue of the boot is destroyed, even some times not in the boot, this leaves your foot exposed. Another issue I find difficult to cope with is the various amount of waste and food all over the floor. The poor staff must work their heads off trying to clean up. But overall would recommend coming here during non-busy hours.

Went there on July. 17th and the queue was pretty long, after 40 mins of waiting we were told that no shoes were available? Maybe you should consider about booking online so that people won’t get disappointed?
