I really loved it. As you might read on some reviews many things in there are pretty much aged and need to get fixed or replaced. But the reality was heart breaking because of not enough funding. When we went to there only older man was working and he seemed really passionate about it. He told us that pine trees in there were planted by his grandfather. Also what I noticed was there are many exotic plants in the and could sense of the passion from older generations who were. It would be good for families as another stop after or before visiting Conservation park next to it. It's roughly 20 minutes drive from Gawler area and you will encounter the beautiful nature. Tip, Do not ware nice shoes. You will find hard to avoid step on the animals' poo Plus, No reception on phones. Family pass is $15. Animals you can see in there are koala (annabelle), kangaroos, wallabies, emus, Kakadu, gala, crow, and more birds (I don't remember.) duck and goose? , peacocks and chickens some more avariy in there.

Great place. Loads if interaction with animals mostly friendly Emu's and Wallabies.
Nice walking trails and trails.
With young kids an hour was long enough to explore most of the park.
$15 for a family of 4 which came with free animal food.
Look forward to returning

You will find bigger places with more animals but this place has been open for over 100 years and for $5 an adult or $3 a child you can't go wrong. They give you pellets to feed the animals and the staff are very friendly

Looks a bit run down. It is a pity that they don't have the funding to update the enclosures. It is a lovely shady setting.

Pretty run down and shabby. The "museum" was falling in, water bowls were grubby (and we'd just had a 40 degree day so they had not been cleaned). Unfortunately its more hoarding at this stage, wish they had more money to make it what it needs to be.

Couldn't tell what of the 30+ cages were empty or abandoned. And hard to tell where the paths are.

They do let you in a cage with a Koala to pat though, and heaps of emus running around (owners don't do much to help so people that are scared or have small kids be prepared).

Very odd experience, probably ripe for a law suit.

This sanctuary has been in existence since 1905 and is run by the grandson of the original owner and he seems to have dedicated his life to it.

We saw Emu, Wallaby (which we fed), Kangeroo and a Koala there as well as sheep, ducks and lots of birds that owners didn't want any more. For $5 per adult it was a bargain.

The road down was steep but in our automatic 2wd 7m motorhome it was absolutely fine, even after all the rain the previous night!

Go visit!

A fantastic place to go. $5 Entry and take your time. Its more than a Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s a lesson about yesterday today and tomorrow.

Cash only - $5 per adult, $3 for children 5yrs and older, free for kids under 5.
A cup of feed for wallaby are 50c each. (Current as at august 2022)
Small sanctuary consisting mostly of birds. There are also resident wallaby, roos and a koala.
We were guided by a volunteer around the place but can walk around freely.
Bring boots in winter as paths are wet and sludgey and sometimes slippery.

Great place, my kids had a ball getting shown around and getting to feed the wallabies and spend time with the koala as well as a guided tour around all the different rescue birds! The workers there put so much effort in and are both lovely people, super friendly and very knowledgeable of the history of the place! We'll definitely be back!

Definitely the most bizarre experience I have had. The location is seriously in the middle of nowhere in the bush. There is limited reception. I attended here in the winter and it had been raining. The whole grounds were muddy and appeared really unkept. It seemed like they had no money and hadn’t kept the place up it almost seemed abandoned except there were these people there. The owner greeted us by saying that he could only answer our questions if we paid him $5 entry, we were fine to pay him but it was just strange. Then he took us through an empty shopping container-like structure, out the back and we were able to pat a beautiful Koala. He told us the koala was not happy. Then he gave us some food to feed the kangaroo’s which was a really nice experience but a bit dirty and the kangaroos were literally jumping on us and fighting for food. We walked through this bird area where each bird wanted attention of its own and they were beautiful but looked cold and lonely. There was an old house that was supposed to be like a historical sort of house to look in but it smelled dank and was very dirty and had spiderwebs all over it. There were also emus all over which were very cute and beautiful. The experience was strange but the animals were lovely. You could tell the owner cares about the animals but perhaps it was so unkept because we were there in winter.

Great little place, looks a bit run down but its only a small cost to enter and a cup of animal feed is included. Theres Kangaroos and Emus wandering around everywhere once you get out of the car, the Emus seem intimidating but run off when they get close to you. The kids will love it, we were able to go right into the Koala enclosures and even pat them.

There are picnic tables to sit and eat, although they are in with the Wallabies. You also need cash to go here

Love volunteering here, I rather spend time with animals than the human species. No more comments on that kind of species lol

A very old place but really liked it. We were greated by all Emus just casually walking around. They approach you for food only. You can buy food from the volunteer staff there and feed all the animals. They had talking parrots and Cockatoos, Wallabys, Kangaroos, peacocks and Koalas. We got to feed peanuts to the cockatoos and one of the cockatoo, Fred, was more than 80 years old. Overall, kids had a great time and so did we.
