Hector's on the Wharf reviews
65We visited Hector's as a group of eight for a 70th birthday celebration dinner, and we were extremely impressed. The location is stunning and parking is easy, but it's the sublime food and warm and friendly service that elevate this place above others. Anastazija and her team bent over backwards to make sure the whole experience was extra special and the food was absolutely superb. I didn't get photos of every dish we ordered, but the mushroom pithivier and pork cutlet were both outstanding. I would recommend Hector's to anyone looking for a quality meal and exceptional service.
Came for lunch, food was ok, I had heard it was great, wine list wasn't exciting, the managment didn't seem to want to know, the views was nice
Awesome food, and dog friendly but unfortunately only able to have them on one side inside. Outside seating was quite nice and a good meal and service.
A lovely location. Booked for four but our booked outside table was taken when we arrived at the designated time and only had room for three so had to sit inside. What there was of the meal was nice but quite pricey for a tart with a very small mixed salad.
Brilliant service and wonderful food and excellent range of options and the view is worth the journey alone but I would say that if you don't have the food you have missed an opportunity to experience something special
Breakfast is great. Went in for lunch with a friend, beyond our "Pension" budget. Would have been good, I'm sure, but way out there.
The seafood chowder was really tasty and the gentleman owner accommodated the sunflower oil allergy companion I was with and grilled an excellent seafood platter.
Always a great experience at Hector's. Friendly staff, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere. We were lucky to get an outside table on a perfect day by the water at Goolwa. Excellent local wine from Bleasdale, tasty garlic bread, and a seafood platter from around SA. We are truly in a great state.
Fantastic service, friendly and enjoy a good laugh! Food was phenomenal and atmosphere/ location was great. Highly recommend…. The sticky date with apricot was my fab by far.
Wonderful meals, thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered, pasta with pippis and prawns was amazing and dessert and coffee. Excellent service.
Cute cafe on the water. Expensive prices. $6.50 for a piccolo in a take away cup. Absurdly overpriced
Reading other reviews we thought this would be a perfect stop for a takeaway coffee as we explore the wharf, sadly not so perfect.
Staff were pleasant enough however, I got a sense that a takeaway coffee was all too hard.
One size coffee on offer, fine.
Surcharge for credit card, fine.
Feeling like my order was all too hard, particularly when wanting to purchase another drink, not so fine.
I'm still baffled at the cost disparity between drinks. $7.50 for half-size almond hot chocolate when a full size almond coffee is $7. Go figure.
Wouldn't suggest stopping for takeaway coffee. Try your luck at one of the other available options along the wharf.
Beautiful place and quiet for breakfast with friends or loved ones. I love it here, the view is spectacular and food is amazing. I had Nasi Goreng for breakfast, I’m from Malaysia and I’d say I approve. Food are a little pricey but worth it for special occasions or if you needed a little treat for yourself and loved one
How on earth do you get away with charging $18 for 2 very small vegetarian spring rolls with 1/2 cup of salad? And $18 for 4 teeny tiny prawn dumplings? Shame on you
A truly great meal service you don't see any more and a atmosphere that made you relax. Totally recommend the Jamaican banana split
Honest food done well. Flavoursome, interesting and reasonably priced. The service was warm and friendly, We would be back regularly if we lived close by.
Lovely little venue overlooking the water onto Hindmarsh Island. The food tastes as good as it looks and the staff are friendly.
Try the seafood chowder - gorgeous - you'll want another bowl! And the owner & staff are delightful. Small and cosy right on water's edge.
Always worth the visit. Friendly staff, good food and location on the water. What more could you want. Oh, and dog friendly outside seating.
If only the steak had been cooked to me likings, they would have received 5 stars instead of 4.
Maybe next time
