Fantastic experience! We did a Guided Koala Walk and bush fire ecology tour yesterday and it fulfilled all our expextations and more. The guide took us on a walking tour first and showed us the koala's Hidden in the trees while explaining how they live.
After this, we stept in a van and he showed us the rest of the domain, explaining the flora, fauna and impact of the fires.
It's impressing how nature can recover in 3 years from such a fire and I hope the Wildlife Centre will be rebuild too.

Great guided tour. If you want more information about the animals that you might be lucky enough to see in the caravan park, you should definitely take this night tour! Many thanks. Very sympathic!

I highly recommend this tour. If you like koalas in their natural environment, this experience is for you. The must is Josh, the guide, a really nice guy. He knows what he is talking about.
Don’t miss it

We had a fabulous day with our guide Josh and an excellent sized small group. The tour exceeded expectations both in the koala sightings we lucked on and in the easy sharing of knowledge imparted.
However the website is very difficult to navigate and booking is more difficult than it should be.

Very nice place where you can see different animals. Personally we saw koalas and kangaroos. The guide is very accessible and give a lot of details while answering questions.

We did both a daytime tour and a nighttime tour. Both were superb and I highly recommend them. Our guide Jim, was extraordinarily knowledgeable and had a deep commitment to conservation and the land and numerous animals that can be found in the sanctuary. We saw several koalas with joeys, including one with a tiny 6 month old that we had never seen before. We saw numerous kangaroos and wallabies. Everytime we come to Kangaroo Island, the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is always on the top of our priority list. This year, like others, did not disappoint.

An amazing experience volunteering at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary during 2 weeks in August 2019! Thanks to all the staff for welcoming and more particularly to Ned, Kelly, Tracey, Cassey, Shane, Carolina, Steven, and of course the mascot Maggy

We recently went on a Sunset Nocturnal Tour with Jim and it was fabulous! We walked for 2-3 hours around the sanctuary and I didn’t want it to end. Jim was super knowledgeable, cares so much, down to earth, easy to talk to, and answered all of our questions. It was great to see so many koalas, kangaroos and wallabies in their natural habitat. There was a lot of growth after the bush fires which was great to see. You need to add this to your next trip to Kangaroo Island and get away from the tourist traps. It was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Australia!

I can’t say enough about this place. We visited in October and were lucky enough to do a nocturnal tour with Jim. From the minute he got there it was an amazing tour. Jim is so knowledgeable and you can see how much he cares for the land and the animals. We saw so many koalas, kangaroos and wallabies in their natural habitat and learned so much! It’s not an exaggeration to say the night tour was our highlight on KI. This place is authentic, not a tourist trap. Please visit and support!

Are you the type of person that values our environment and the animals within it? Do you want a detailed insight into, and understanding of Koalas and Kangaroos? Do you want to understand the devastating impact of the 2020 Kangaroo Island fire, but also the ensuing, miraculous, and hope filled regeneration? Then this is the experience for you. Our visit to the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary was one of the main highlights to fantastic stay on Kangaroo Island. Informative, inspiring and beautiful the property and tour were perfect. Jim was the consummate host. Don’t spoil your trip, go to the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Had an AMAZING time with Jim! He was so knowledgeable and you could see how much he cared about the well being of the animals. Please support an organization like this over the interactive zoos as the animals best respected at a distance.it was my favorite thing I did on Kangaroo island. Thank you for an amazing experience Jim!

Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary's guided tour is fabulous! Such a thoughtful, positive view on the overall ecology of the park after such a terrible bushfire last year. Their passion for the ecology and wildlife is infectious, we had a great time immersing ourselves in their sanctuary. We saw so many beautiful koalas right up close for fantastic photo opportunities and learnt a lot about the ecological role of bushfires. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves wildlife and would like to meet some inspiring, resilient people!

Wow this is a real gem, it's natural it's real and it's personal, make time to visit or do the nocturnal visit, we had a magic time in the dark, so much life, if your into real animals and real wild life then this is the place for you, Jim our host knows his stuff, after the fire's in KI they lost lot, yet he is out with his wild life showing people the real nature. I had an absolutely wonderful time. Support this business as it's for the wallabies, the koala the geese the natural bush land. Jim was so proud of what he showed us on the night and I would love to do this again.

Jim (owner) was an absolute rockstar. We turned up early without a booking, and Jim kindly let us in and took us on the 'extended' tour- including scoping out the day's koalas. He was so knowledgeable, kind, and generous with his time. It felt like we were visiting extended family. In an intimate tour, we learnt about the impact of the fires, the reaction of flora and fauna and the comradery of volunteers during difficult times. Absolutely 100% recommend visiting.
