HANAMURA NORWOOD reviews
55A regular here! Booking online through their user-friendly website is easy. Great Japanese food! Conveniently situated at Parade Central with complimentary 3-hour parking at the Parade Central car park.
Probably worst Japanese restaurant I’ve been to, sushi is better at Foodland.
Booked for 4, one guest didn’t get their meal, until well after we had all finished. The Uber eats orders were rolling out though.
Sticky menus and cobwebs (ps. I like spiders)
Note: there’s No split bills
Then I asked them to validate my parking ticket which failed on exit.
Came here with a couple of friends yesterday night. Had a great time. We were impressed by the service and the food came out pretty quite fast. Food was pretty good for the price and I highly recommend the rainbow rolls!
So they close at 9, and we went at 7. There was nothing on the train but they were constantly making sushi. Ordering is confusing. No staff around to take orders, everybody's in the kitchen but the train is not filled. Food was overpriced. Only plus is the renovation. Truly an empty shell of a restaurant. Go if you wanna get gipped.
Might be ok for a quick meal before the pictures, but don't go if you want a relaxing dinner with friends. Kitchen closes at 8.30 and we were told at 9.15pm they want to close. Most dishes are deep fried except sushi. Tempura batter disappointing. Nice venue but huge cobwebs above us and large windows only cleaned as far as hands could reach.
Delicious food that was beautifully presented. Consistently high quality for both dine in and delivery experiences. Service was excellent and the restaurant is family friendly and well equipped with kids cutlery. We made a reservation online and on arrival were pleased to note that the high chair was already in place. We enjoyed the sashimi, sushi and skewers. Kids loved the donburi.
I came here with my partner and our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately the venue did not live up to our personal expectations in our opinion. We both compared this venue to sushi planet which was silly of us to do. The venue itself is quite welcoming and cozy, the lighting and the architectural space has been done really well. The food is of average quality if you are ordering from the train, the prices are somewhat reasonable until you open the menu and decide to order something from it. The prices then sky rocket and become completely unreasonable as if they are trying to deter people from ordering from the menu and direct the sales to the train as it’s most likely easier for them. I don’t think I’ll be returning unfortunately, it is a nice little spot but if anyone is looking for advice I’d just suggest going to sushi planet instead as it’s allot more reasonably priced and the food is amazingly fresh.
This place had great atmosphere but was a little disappointed in the food and service. I was so excited to see they had a vegan menu but a bit disappointed that a couple items were over cooked especially the tofu skewers (they were hard and crunchy). The service seemed to be lacklustre and when we wanted to order more drinks we couldn't seem to get any ones attention so we ended up going home. I was delighted with the costing which was about $30 each plus a wine.
Hanamura is a great restaurant to visit before or after a movie. The theatre is in the same complex and a stone's throw away.
There's choices at Hanamura. You can sit at the sushi train and watch go around endlessly. Another choice at a table or a booth in a bigger group.
While the dining experience was good, a couple of the skewers were dry (not quite jerky. However, you get the idea). After mentioning this to staff, they kindly made some more.
Apart from the skewers, the tasting plate for 2 was good. As was the karaoke chicken, lotus chips, and sashimi. If you're after something different, try Hanamura.
Food tastes fresher than the traditional sushi train places. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is because you can't split bills and they don't accept American Express.
I was so so looking forward to this fabulous food, but sadly had to walk out. THIS was going to be my 75th birthday dinner.
We decided to go early, as my husband is in his late 80s, and likes to eat early. However age is only a number to us, we travel, have the best of everything and enjoy our lives.
We arrived (without booking) and asked to sit at a table, only to be told they were all booked at 6: 30pm (45 minutes time) So ok. That understood and forgiven, we were sat at the bench.
We waited and waited, noticed 6 teenagers walked in (with no booking we heard) and were promptly seated at one of the tables!
What was THAT all about? Is this agism or slack? Or just business? Nevertheless, we kept waiting, with no service.
Why were we being ignored? We were dressed well, and dont smell.
It was obvious we were ready to order. This was very poor indeed. We will not return. Im sure there are enough people to keep these people in business, but let me suggest something to the owners of this establishment.
PLEASE teach your young employees respect!
Loved the scallop nigiri and their aburi selection. The sashimi is fresh. The eel rice is not the best, with the rice not so fragnant. The table was a bit sticky but overall, great place for a Japanese food lunch/ dinner.
An excellent restaurant.
Booking was easy, they accommodated a tasting menu request and were prompt and efficient in dealing. A great start.
On arrival we were seated and attended to very well with out little adventure executed flawlessly as a result.
The food was very fresh, curated and ontime.
We appreciated that they have a magic touch of blending sauces with flavours (true generally of Japanese food), but was particularly well done here.
Vegetable dishes were well cooked and flavoured as much as the meat dishes.
The sashimi was of high grade and there are many recommendations as a result.
The menu is maybe a little extensive but for a larger group just divine.
Tofu dishes were particularly good as was the scallop kataifi. Now that last one.an absolute gem.
Highly recommended place, go with friends, order and share. You will not be disappointed!
5 stars!
This place was beautiful, the food was extremely tasty and the drinks were nice. Unfortunately the price was quite expensive and considering how much money we spent, we were really disappointed with the service. When paying so much money you expect to be well served but instead we were just seated at our table and left waiting long wait times between food and drinks and the staff were honestly not friendly.
Vegan food is amazing but prices went up 40% ($29 to $42 for vegan platter). Can't be a go to anymore: - (
Service:
Fairly prompt to begin with and got a bit slow as more people came.
Food:
The combination tempura was very fresh, crunchy and good value for money.
The curry chicken sushi was mediocre because the chicken was dry and the sauce did not taste like curry.
Would not recommend the sashimi because it was very small and not the freshest.
Like some other reviews suggest, the rice bowls have a bit too much rice.
The aburi salmon was pretty good.
Overall, food wasn't overly salty, which I liked.
Atmosphere:
Really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Price:
Was a bit on the expensive size for what you got, especially because the sushi wasn't exceptional compared to cheaper places, like sushi hub or sushi trains.
As always the food was excellent, but really went above and beyond to cater to dietary requirements.
Having recently discovered a rather large and complex list of allergies, the staff and chefs were very happy to take my obnoxious list of foods I couldn't eat and ensure everything they served me was safe for me to eat.
They were clear with their communication, and ensured I knew what had been changed (if anything) with a particular dish, and made sure I knew what on the table I could eat.
Beautifully done restaurant in a good location with friendly attentive staff.
The sushi was really nice and the mains were good but not great.
The downsides for us is that the prices were expensive compared to other places of the same quality and portion sized meals. Also considering how quiet the restaurant was, all the patrons were seated in the same area instead of spread out a bit more.
It’s the first time we’ve been here since the place is normally at capacity in the evenings when I’ve walked past looking for somewhere.
Will definitely be back.
Amazing Japanese cuisine with great vegan options. The restaurant is beautiful and well designed. The staff is very helpful and lovely. Always love to come again!
We walked in and found a table, the waiter arrived at the table and asked if we could “leave the pet outside”.
The ‘pet’ is an RSB Guide Dog belonging to my friend who is blind, his guide dog Toby was lying quietly on the floor at the end of the table.
Attempting to deny a guide dog is illegal.
Upon paying the waiter ‘accidentally’ overcharged me $120, I only realised the mistake after walking away.
They then couldn’t refund me, saying they couldn’t remember the pin code for the machine, and so they’d have to refund in cash and charge the correct amount to my card again.
I went to the toilet, and the sink was dirty with no soap in the container.pretty poor, especially in the COVID era.
Overall, a disappointing experience.
