Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide reviews
51This hotel has the worst customer service ever. They haven't refunded my deposit worth 50$ and when I called to ask them about it, their customer service agent was not able to provide me with any proof that they refunded it and abruptly disconnected the call on my face. I never got my deposit back. Thanks to the hotel.
Generally, when you're asked to pay upfront at a hotel, you know it's going to be questionable and this was no exception. I've stayed in some really dodgy country motels and you would expect that, but not for something smack bang in the middle of Adelaide.
First off, the rooms photographed and advertised were definitely NOT what you got. For an extra $100, I'd recommend staying at the Hilton.
We got into the room which looked like it had been a converted storage unit, I was particularly impressed by the questionable looking bloodstain on the carpet. That was a highlight. Not to mention a few "deals" that seemed to have gone down on one of the nights we were there, the walls were thin enough to hear all the details.
The hotel staff were nice. That was the only bonus.
One day, this will make a great story, until then, I wouldn't recommend staying here, unless you're after a cheap room in a bit of a dive
Location was great. Staff were friendly and processes were good. The Hotel does need updating though.
A big, comfy room with large bathroom.
The only down side was a powerpoint at the opposite end of the room from the kettle, tea, coffee and fridge. Very strange.
Always a pleasant stay.
Would be great when we visit Adelaide from Cairns multiple times a year, a better rate for your more supportive and long term clients might be a lovely idea. Just a suggestion.
Disappointed that upon arrival three of three lifts were out of service and we were required to carry luggage up four flights of stairs. Having just had a knee injury, this was terribly inconvenient and many people had trouble locating their rooms due to the maze like layout.
The vehicle bay at the front of the hotel was being used by patrons of the bar next door for picks ups and drops offs which didn’t allow for us to momentarily park there to drop our bags to the hotel before finding a car park. We had to walk 100m with luggage.
Rooms were clean and simple. Nothing to rave about but you can see the age of the hotel. Minimal views due to the room windows being frosted glass.
There are no food options here other than vending machines.
Conveniently located to great bars and restaurants, convention centre and the casino.
Advertised as three stars - and probably just meets it. The staff however are excellent and attentive. If you reminisce about the smells of 90’s Las Vegas - then this is the place for you.
Old historic hotel masked by the Mercure Branding. Not your standard Mercure Hotel, but the stay was ok. Good location and staff did change my room when I wasn’t satisfied.
Stayed at the Grosvenor whilst in town for work and honestly overlay impressed but wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed in. It’s not that I expected a 5 star hotel but probably won’t be staying here again because of room cleanliness and the bed. Not a fan of mould on the roof and the best was like sleeping on concrete. The shower was also for people who are well under 6 foot and I am 6”4.
Good location and friendly staff but needs an update.
I stayed at the Grosvenor in September last year and I enjoyed a lovely visit. Adelaide is a gem of a city and the Grosvenor is comfortable and convenient to every attraction. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous at all times. I would have no hesitation in staying at the Grosvenor on my next visit to Adelaide. Thank you.
So close to trams, railway station. Rundle mall. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Bed wad good.
I wish I had read the reviews before I booked this room. I had a non refundable booking for a twin room costing $200 per night and I booked for 2 nights, which I was fine with. Having said that, once I checked into my room I found it dark, dingy, dismal and dangerous - a 12cm step up into the small one person bathroom, a shower over the bath with no grip rail, (my travelling companion had a broken arm with a full arm cast). The TV was an 18" monitor with only local channels available. Only a homeless person would like this room. As I am NOT homeless, I did not stay and happily gave up my payment. The management were not the least interested in my thoughts! I hope if you are considering staying here that you move on. The Grosvenor has had such a reputation but unfortunately it needs to be pulled down! So sorry for the staff who have to work there.
In desperate need of an upgrade rooms very dated no cooked breakfast available only cereal and toast kitchen still closed since Covid with no outlook to reopen $250 night overpriced should be $150 very small capacity carpark in basement and so tight very concerned car would be damaged
Place is a dingy hole, will not ever stay here again. The place looks dirty, carpet is filthy, the rooms and corridors stink! Not worth the money!
Staff were helpfull (Amelia) we booked in for couple of days only as my husband was due to have day surgery at the hospital, however due to complications her had to extend our stay for another couple of days Amiela was so understanding and extra helpfully.we are both in our 70s and we were very appreciated.
Unfortunately cannot give zero stars. Most uncomfortable bed, loudest room. Nothing like getting a noise complaint at 7am for talking in your room. To then have the fire alarm go off. And follow the fire escape all the way to the bottom, for the fire exit door to be blocked by cages of dirty linen
Can’t complain. Staff is very good but rooms are not much, had better. AC is not the best for summer and got little flies flying in the room night time out of nowhere.
Parking is limited 20$ per day. But fair for the price right in the middle of city
I'd probably rate this at 3 1/2 stars. First the bad - The TV badly needs replacing. It is very old and the picture is terrible. I wanted to watch the Australian Open Men's Final but I could hardly see the ball. This is quite an old hotel - the room was dark with heavy curtains over the old windows which had no view. You can't open a window and get fresh air. Apart from that the bed was comfortable, good shower and other basic amenities are there.
The Good: Great location. Pub next door had good meals and a large TV with Foxtel (I watched the tennis there). It's in the heart of the CBD so walking distance to all the shops etc. 24 Hour reception is a positive. Good value for money considering the location. I might stay here again if they replaced the TV.
Really great.excellent staff, walking distance to everything, clean room, handy parking underneath the building. Anyone complaining on here needs to think about what they paid.you get what you pay for and the Grosvenor is definitely amazing value for money.
Large and old charm motel/hotel.
Very small and tight parking, only one elevator goes down to the parking. Do not stay here if you have a low car ️
Love the old elevators
Smaller window in each room with the only air flow been provided from the AC.
I felt the AC was very under powered as we had to buy a pedestal fan for more circulation, a ceiling fan would be nice.
A very clean motel, expect to eat out or get room service all the time.
Amazing friendly staff, very helpful.
The restaurant, eating area is closed because of COVID.well stocked drink and snack machines on each level which we abused a little.
Amazing value
