Garden Island Ships' Graveyard reviews
15Very good wanted to get a closer look but it was infested with flies. Would be great if there was an information plaque about the history of the ships
Searched for ages to view this graveyard. Very dissappointing. Could not view it from land really.only by boat or air!
Pretty amazing. If you like kayaking and sightseeing, this is the place for you. Very interesting
Visit this landmark during low tide so you can walk along the muddy shore to get to the shipwreck for some photos. It’s cool to see these abandoned ships get reclaimed by nature just a stone throws away from the city.
While you can see some of the ships from the bridge, we saw there was a track near by that leads to the ships.
It has a fence across half the track, so what they are trying to achieve with that.
The walk is through mangroves, and the tide made the walk a little boggy, but it's an easy walk.
Go at low tide if on foot or canoe from dolphin sanctuary. On foot is limited on where you go though.
An awesome spot, I took my DJI Mini 2 for a spin and got some unrealistic pictures check them out.
Seen from the bridge not that interested point to stop it’s an old shipyard rack but there is no way can go to close to them there is way but all covered with the bushes.
It would have been so much better if there was an actual trail to get there without kayaking. Really wanted to see it but couldn't get through the mangrove swamps.
No doubt best viewed from the water, as the track in in extremely muddy, to the point you're shoes are coming off on the drive home. Some interesting wrecks. A shame about the rubbish.
Good fishing if you're just looking to catch and release to have a bit of fun. Not kid friendly
You can only really see these from the bridge or within the river itself so don't try to go there on foot. They aren't huge boats but it's kinda cool.
Great place to relax, only one barbecue station, so be prepared to wait or take your own. Beautiful scenery.
Really cool place to take pictures with a camera or a drone, come here on a sunny day and you’ll get a perfect image!
Excellent place to kayak and enjoy visiting the shipwrecks and watching the dolphins. There is no cost except for travelling and there are toilet facilities by the launch area. We saw the recently born baby dolphin with its parents and next visit I will take a waterproof camera to catch the close-ups of the dolphins including when they actually swam under our double kayak. We visited the shipwrecks just after high tide and found it quite an experience to move inbetween and over the wrecks. A visit at lower tide would expose more of the wrecks but limit your kayaking. You may be able, with care and footwear, be able to scramble around the wrecks at low tide because the falling tide exposes shell islands that are firm under foot. We encountered a fairly strong tide on the return journey so be prepared.
