Gạo Restaurant

This place has been taken over under new owners and new management for approximately one year ago. I didn't know this until yesterday when I visited again for dinner. The place is way better than before.

The food is excellent. I think this place will become my new "go to" location for Vietnamese food. The food is honest traditional Vietnamese food presented with a modern elegance. The taste speaks for itself and I could tell in the first bite. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the food you get.

Last night, I tried three dishes:

1). Banh Khot - small Vietnamese savoury pancakes with prawn on top and accompany herbs and lettuce.
2). Banh Can Cua - a crab meat soup noodles.
3). Hokkien Noodles with Beef - stir fried egg noodles.

The first and third dish were excellent. The best I've ever had those dishes. It was the first time I tried the second dish which was nice but I have no other basis for comparison. I would definitely go back to get the first and third dishes again.

The venue has been renovated and expanded from before. It is much larger and spacious for its seating capacity. It has a good atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming staff.

This place is a hidden gem. They need to broadcast that they are new owners with a new menu because the food is much better than before. There was nothing wrong with the previous owners or their food but it was cheap buffet that was pre-prepared and you get what you pay for. Nothing wrong with that if thats what you want. However, the food now is fresh and good quality, which is so far apart from before. I am very impressed with the turn around.

A new local gem. I am very keen to go back and try more of the menu.

Good food! Service was a bit off initially as we ordered through the phone and confirmed the order, however upon arrival they were not aware of it. Must’ve been another staff picking up, however they quickly fixed the matter and prepared the meal for us. Pricing was decent for the quantity of food. Food was cooked well even for takeaway food, really enjoyed our dinner:) thank you for being prompt to fix matters!

Have dined in and used takeaway/Uber eats and always delivers great tasting food.
The menu offers Vietnamese street foods, quick meals and traditional dishes for family to share the old fashioned way.
The beverages are well presented as well as Tate good. The custard apple smoothie and the lychee tea is a favorite for me.

This place offers delicious ox tail pho and other dishes not normally served at other Vietnamese restaurants. Plenty of spaces for big families and friendly staff.

Great place to eat, really enjoyed the food & service!
However could do with some music in the background.
Overall I'll definitely be coming back again!

Been here a few times now. Travelled all the way from the south. Love betel leaf beef dish. The sauce it comes with is great. A lot of the other dishes are quite good with some Viet street food dishes you don't usually get from other Viet restaurants. Planning to keep coming back to try different uncommon dishes.

I've visited this place about 3 or 4 times now and initially, I was thoroughly impressed and would have recommended it without hesitation. However, during my last two visits, I noticed a considerable decline in the quality of the food, to the point where I can no longer recommend the business. They offer an extensive selection of Vietnamese cuisine, which is a plus. The service remains commendable, and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. On a final note, I kindly suggest that the owner refrain from cutting food in the dining area and keep all food preparation in the kitchen. =]

As soon as I started hearing about Vietnamese street food I knew I needed to try Gao restaurant. The food was delicious. We focussed on the "snacks" but will be back to try their soups and other meals as the weather gets cooler. They serve beer but if you want anything else you will need to bring your own which is fine however, if you bring something with a cork bring a corkscrew as well. Friendly service.

Dinner at @gao_adelaide: delicious Vietnamese food, and it's dishes that you don't normally see at other Vietnamese restaurants. Such big portions too.

Banh beo chen - steamed cups of rice flour, topped with wet/dry shrimp, scallion oil, toasted peanuts, fried shallots, bread crumbs: we have never had this dish before, and it was really tasty! The flavours were really nice. Apparently it is some form of street food.

Bot chien - Vietnamese fried rice cake with eggs, served with scallions, pickled carrots and sweet soy sauce: this was similar to a Malaysian dish, with fried rice cakes in an omelette. This was super yummy.

Caramelised fish sauce chicken wings: you can't go wrong with chicken wings, especially when the sauce is so sticky and delicious.

Fried king prawns: I found the batter a bit too thick, but the flavours were good! The prawns were very tender and juicy too.

Decided to gave another try after a bad experience on the grand opening day and it was much better this time.
Overall, very good menu with a wide range of dishes
For a normal combo rice dish, portion size is very good and pork chop nicely done, but roast pork need to be better, price is fairly high but compitive compare to other VN restaurants.
Yes, will come back in the future.

Brand new restaurant, foods are nomal same as others, and overpice as others as well.foods was taking time to cook and foods are served in broken bowls and dishes.order 7: 00 and 7: 50 food come out but it is not a busy day as weekend.unskill service.

We had a big group lunch today (27 ppl) and wowwww everything we oredered just so good! Cant wait to go back and try other menus!

We took 3 dishes and all were not great. Deep fried prawn had some hair in it. Friendly staff

Clean environment, delicious pho and nice staff. But the my iced coffee too much ice, less milk. Will come again.

Great food, atmosphere and friendly service.

Couldn't fault the combination vermicelli bowl, avocado smoothie was delicious, and everything was well priced.

My buddies were also impressed with everything; mate rated the four beam drink as second best he's tried.

Will be coming back here again.

First time tonight here and WoW was really good food and the service was excellent and so friendly. Definitely coming again, Quail Yummy, Pork Self Roll spot-on.

Banh xeo is not crispy and way too oily (pork is mostly fat)
Bun cha is not authentic. Meat has not been grilled probably (some looks pale)
Maybe just come here for dessert from next time? !

I ordered a Vietnamese pancake (banh xeo) that was labelled as crispy on the menu. It arrived soft and burnt.

Their bun bo hue took over 30min to come out; broth lacked in flavour.

Unfortunately we won't be back.
