Fitzroy Medical Clinic reviews
15I have been visiting Fitzroy Medical Clinic for over four years and I'm extremely happy with the care and attention I receive.
Dr David Nguyen has been very helpful throughout my treatment, very kind knowledgeable and respectful. He is the best Doctor I ever dealt with and I wish him all the best.
My 4yo visited with Dr Sibanda recently. Dr Sibanda was warm, engaging and knowledgeable, he has an exceptional ability to connect with children, and put my son completely at ease.
Had to see a different doctor on one occasion as my doctor was away (same clinic however), and I needed a medical certificate for uni. I was denied a certificate as “I’ve never seen you before, you can’t just show up and ask for a sick certificate”, despite visiting this clinic regularly, being very obviously ill that day, and them having record of my severe recurring tonsillitis which I have since had surgery for. I was not examined for how I was feeling that day despite having a fever, headaches and severe tonsillitis. Instead the doctor spoke over me and told me she couldn’t help me. I was so unwell that day and shaken up after the way I was spoken to. I was crying and was told to calm down in the reception area and made to feel like I was causing a scene rather than being helped. I have since followed my regular doctor to her new clinic, and when I called to have my records released was met with a condescending attitude and told that I couldn’t have my records sent until I pay a $40 fee. Whilst I understand that might be the case, I don’t feel as though staff here have come across as helpful or considerate in their approach.
First time appointment booked on hotdot today. No notifications for gap fee on hotdoc. Asked reception for gap fee when arrival, reception answered depending on doc to charge it or not. Later reception said you have to pay 36 as we are not bulk billing clinic.
I have been visiting Fitzroy Medical Clinic for over 10 years. Dr Buttery is highly knowledgeable and thorough in analysing problems. Also a thankyou to all the staff for the health care they have been providing.
Great service. They literally saved my life. Diagnosed my burst appendix when others had continually missed it.
Have been cunning here for a few years and really only interested in seeing Dr Skiffington and Dr Sabanda.who are the best. Saw one male doc who didn't even listen and today saw a female doc who made me feel very uncomfortable. Waiting times can be long but I don't mind if I'm seeing the doctors mentioned which is rarely as they are very busy.

Had a suspected ACL tear and initially went to a physiotherapist for management and recommendations. At great length and time they assessed the knee with results indicating a suspected full ACL rupture. Took the physiotherapist referral/report to Dr Bowler (with the intention of escalating the injury for private surgeon and MRI intervention), who spent less than 30 seconds reading it and even less time ‘assessing’ the knee, stating it was only a sprain and to take some prescription pain medication instead. A week later after completing the pain prescription medication cycle, I went to the Hindmarsh clinic and saw Dr Gouskos (who actually listens and cares for patients), was given a MRI referral with the results revealing a full ACL rupture. What good are allied health professional recommendations if they’re not taken into any consideration by the GP?
In fairness the waiting time to see the doctor was actually quite quick, the parking was easy and the Admin staff were professional, but the desired outcome and appropriate rehabilitation pathway was initially not achieved due to poor management, lack of attention and care. I would recommend Dr Gouskos to all my friends and family, and in an emergency I would choose any doctor except for Dr Bowler.
My left ear had often been totally blocked every morning for months and months so finally I found time to visit this practice. The Doctor reported that there was no wax to be seen at all. Her fantastical explanation was that my internal sinus passage was blocked.
I visited a real Doctor in a reputable practice and he saw the ear was loaded with wax and eventually he removed it all and I am so thankful.
This begs me to wonder if a Doctor cannot see wax with an instrument, and there was a lot of it, how can they be trusted with more serious matters? Perhaps she could see it and didn't want to deal with it. Extremely unprofessional.
I wasted time and money coming here and I recommend you find somewhere else.
Appointment time was as scheduled. Dr Jessica and Dr Bowler are excellent. Friendly receptionists and easy no fuss payment.
Don’t bother with this clinic- always too busy to care. Rebooked my daughters 1year immunisations 3 times with a nurse then find out they booked me with a doctor who I’ve had issues with in the past. She didn’t fill in immunisation book and wasn’t aware pregnant women needed a whooping cough vax. Only good doctor is dr skiffington but she’s difficult to get in to see. Don’t recommend
Extremely unreliable service! This clinic (and the others in the same group at Hindmarsh) used to be the best to visit, they had short waiting times and many great doctors. Unfortunately in the past year or so, the wait times are always absurd (I've spent no less than 45 minutes waiting for my morning appointment every time) and now I cannot even get an appointment without receiving a call the day of, advising that the doctor has cancelled - four times in a row! Don't bother.
Terrible service. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment at 09: 30 and only saw a GP at 10: 20.
