Farina Station reviews
14Enjoyed a wander around this old ghost town. Signage is excellent, explaining the history and showing old picture of how this once thriving town was. Interesting to see that the building mostly still standing is the Post Office, followed by both Pubs in town. Well worth a stop if heading towards Marree.
Another amazing place to visit to see how hard it was to survive back then.
It's beautiful and picturesque scenery.
Well worth the drive to look at the place.
A great rest spot on the way to another good rest spot, Marree. Plenty of interesting old ruins. Quite of a lot of work is being done. Love the outback.
Staff were awesome- so friendly. Who would have thought a cream bun fresh in the middle of nowhere
The dark wood baked loaves are just to die for from the underground bakery.
An oasis in the middle of nowhere
Great camping area. Bitumen road all the way from Port Augusta to Farina now. Amazing restoration work that is being done by volunteers. Very enjoyable stay.
This well worth the stop.lots of history here and the bakery is up and running.fantastic food and drinks here.a welcomed stop I highly recommend it
Fascinating place to wander around. Make sure you go see the cemetery while there.
Great sites for camping but remember it's rustic.
Every year in June and July the Farina volunteers get up there and operate the old underground bakery. They sell great pies, sausage rolls, pasties and cakes to help raise funds to continue their restoration and preservation work.
Those outback sunsets make the trip worthwhile too
A great historical place which is being restored by volunteers. It shows realistically just how this town went into a demise. Great historical facts photos and remains.
It has been a very unique experience to walk through these ruins and to know that they are slowly being restored by dedicated volunteers, how great that is to see and hear. Was once know as Farina Town (est 1887) and was a stop on the old Ghan Rail line. The underground bakery is still a working bakery that is open at certain times of the year, but wasn’t on our visit though. It’s is Definitely worth the stop in here to look around. There is even a very good Campground near by to stay the night.
If you love the old-style atmosphere of the western movies, Farina is definitely one the best places in Australia to enjoy of. It is basically a ghost town, with no more than some ruins, but the work that the volunteers did to give a chance to Farina to be known is incredible. You have the occasion to see the rests of a old hotel, a post office and other things so enjoyable in the middle of the Aussie outback. I absolutely recommend this forgotten city in South Australia.
Great spot to stop and unwind. Flushing roilets, hot showers and friendly travelers. Great restoration works going on.
Interesting place to drive through, quiet, not much there but it's good if you like a bit of barren scenery
Wonderfull out of the way rarely noted overnight site with drop toilet dogs allowed
$5 per night and a wonderful war memorial not to mention the ongoing restoration of the township
