Emu Hotel reviews
49Understaffed in bistro area.one poor girl taking orders, being the waitress, clearing tables, making drinks.many people waiting queued up.run off her feet.not really good enough
Tried our first meal here since the new chef, will definitely be coming back. The food was 10/10, my husband had the 300gm Porterhouse Steak and I had the Grilled Chicken Burger so good, can't wait to come back and try something else.
Questionable staff. Not accommodating or welcoming. Was a regular. Not anymore. Nothing coeliac safe.
Interesting clientele has bands regularly its a pub in an area that has socio economic issues but the locals seem to enjoy themselves
Emu is my local go to for a cuppa and social outing.lunch.normally enjoy how ever for the past few months I have experienced bad attitude towards me from 1 bar staff rude and dismissive and made to feel unwelcome.so now I will check if she on and if so I will not go in.all other staff are brilliant and happy. I brought my coffee from otr so as not to bother asking her to make one.
Food was very disappointing. My beef schitnzel was overdone and gravy completely thick like it's been sitting there for ages and then warmed up. Hubby ordered a pie and filling was cold. Was not busy but service was really slow. Unfortunately we won't be going there again
Very disapointing this visit. Had a chicken shnitzel.couldn't eat it all because it was like a dried up shoe. Service was lengthy considering only 6 other people in restaurant when we ordered. Those who ordered after us has finished eating their meal before we even got ours.
We were there for a birthday dinner would never visit the place again. The wait time for meals is a joke 2 1/2 hours and meals come at all different times. Staff were let know about bring out the cupcakes for a birthday that some how took over and hour to bring out because they wanted tables cleared staff seem to be only able to do 1 plate at a time.
Have only been to the Emu for lunch which was lovely, decided to go for dinner tonight! We must say the staff are brilliant (2 young guys served us) we ordered our food mine was the ribs which came with wedges & coleslaw plus a little bowl of water & lemon which was fabulous for those sticky fingers, ribs were delish and my husband had lambs fry & bacon which he said was the best he has ever had. Seeing I had a little room for desert I ordered the citrus tart which was a very generous serve with cream & strawberries. We now have our favourite place would highly recommend!
The only good thing was the food and that was after waiting over an hour to receive it.the staff were not great.we waited over 5 minutes for service of drink orders along with alot if other people waiting with us for well over 5 minutes we ended up going to the front bar to get drinks. After waiting over 5 minutes again to order food we waited well over an hour for our meals to come out and the food was sub par. After requesting a refund put food finally started coming out. Meals were forgotten and had to complain and ask for a change then they got meals wrong and blamed us for not ordering all together when we didn't all get there at the same time. I will never go there again unless it's for the front bar.
Would give a 0 if I could. Booked for 6pm, didnt eat till after 8pm, 2 meals still didn't come and the food that did was cold. But the icing on the cake was the lack of care from management, to be fought with, shrugged at, told theres no point and all with a sarcastic smirk. 3 other tables we saw were in the same position, with the same responses. Will not be returning. Props to the one young man who did apologise sincerely, but had no support from other staff ot management.
Tried the EMU as ALH have taken over…. Saddened by the experience.
Arrived 15 minutes early to table booking and was told that no one was being served in that area until “they open” at 6pm, only after I went to find a staff member. This staff member informed many other customers the same right up until 6pm. Once service began at 6pm there was a large line of customers waiting to order food and drinks. Staff member left bar/ counter many times, making customers wait with a few just walking away not happy with the service. At one point a customer was left waiting at the bar while the staff member had a casual catch up with a friend.
This whole experience was totally unacceptable service for an ALH venue. We regularly attend ALH pubs as family and friends often work there.
Manager was rarely seen and never seen giving assistance.
A young server delivered food and did his best to keep up but was seen being spoken rudely to by other staff.
One dish that was requested to come out with the main meals, came out with the entrees.
The food itself was not bad, would recommend the food.
Sadly I can’t recommend the service.
I truely hope an ALH area manager visits and trains these staff members to the level we have come to expect and enjoy from this company.
Was a lovely place to dine.
Food average, but good.
However, was appauled to see how one lovely lady behind bar also taking orders, taking meals to the bar, cleaning off tables, taking meals to dining, clearing them, taking drink orders all by herself.
What a star. She needs a pay rise.
It was horrible to see one lady doind everything.
Its disgusting to me that a business would do such a thing.
I have come from major hospitality and you donot overwork one employee that way.
2 people should be ona shift together.
Oh, it really got me bad when this lovely lady was getting my drink and duty manager came to tell her food was wairing
Omg.are his hands painted on? He did nothing all night while we were there but roam around.
Perhaps the real bosses hete. Woolies should look more after their staff.
I hope she leaves and is appreciated at a better environment.
We told you lovely lady you need a huge pay rise for what you are giving.she agreed
Great band.the incredible.
Very casual atmosphere.all types of people and all ages from teens to mature rockers
I just went to play some pokies.
Great staff.
Free coffee.
We were there for a couple hours, Broke even.
Most disgusting hotel. Only one toilet for ladies the other one didn't have a door. Came all the way from gawler to see a band. Never again. Feral.
Dined there today with 3 other people. Worst meal for a long time. I had Chicken Mignon which was dry and overcooked. This was accompanied by brown watery broccolini, water logged baby carrots (I have tasted better from a can) and sweet potato mash that tasted as though it had been mixed with vinegar. If I could give it zero stars I would. Will never come back and neither will the rest of my party. Don't waste your hard earned money here.
Very disappointing dining experience last Wednesday evening. Waitress took order for 2x Vegan Lasagna. She added $2 for each meal for vegetables which was already included in the price. She checked with kitchen on my complaint, and came back, with no apology, charged me the correct price. Her attitude was disgusting. When the meal arrived my friend and I couldn't believe our eyes. The lasagne had no descriptive layers of pasta cheese and vegetables. Was just a heap of slop on the plate. Will never go back. Bogans are running that place. Never again.
Friday night. Served by Norma who is by far the nicest and most professional server I have come across! Norma has a wonderful attitude even though we ordered quite late and made us feel very welcome. The food was amazing also.
My seafood basket took an hour to come out, I got abused for asking for the lights to be turned on, nothing but bogans stinking out the toilets, and worst of all, the Rocking Stones won’t be winning a Grammy any time soon as the struggled to put a single song together.
