Ecopia Retreat

You know that feeling when you go somewhere and immediately feel like you’re home, that is how ecopia has felt for us and it’s definitely a place we will be returning too. We didn’t have the best weather during our stay but we didn’t feel we missed out on anything. We came to Kangaroo Island for the wildlife, what we weren’t expecting was so much at Ecopia. Each day we went for long walks around the property, looking at the wildlife, we spotted kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, a goanna and wedge tailed eagles. We were even lucky enough to have a koala in the tree right beside the villa for the day. We loved just sitting on the couch and watching the kangaroos out the window. We wanted OZ wildlife and we got it.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom house, which was very comfortable, tastefully furnished and attention paid to every detail. We were particularly impressed by the generous breakfast hamper with carefully selected local produce which we used to cook our own breakfast during our stay.

What a treat! Everything we heard about this place is true. What a wonderful experience. Thank you Ecopia Retreat. We hope to be back one day.

Stunning accomodation, inclusions, wildlife, nature, stars, bathroom, service… everything was perfect and we had the most restful and rejuvenating break. Ecopia is ideally located a half hour from the main town for groceries, massages, dinner out, but also a short drive to seal bay and a great base for the rest of the island. Highly recommend for luxury and hospitality from the hosts, ease of everything, it was all perfect!

Ecopia in beautiful KI represents Australian nature at its best. It is both stunning and serene.
The beautifully crafted eco Villas were perfectly positioned to take advantage of the glorious views.
The villa was spotlessly clean and every need we may have had, had been thoughtfully considered, we wanted for nothing. We felt privileged to be there.
Yael was incredibly generous to accommodate our needs for a very memorable stay.

I recently stayed at Ecopia for 5 nights with my partner and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The villa itself is beautiful - every detail has been thought of to make the stay comfortable and relaxing, including a super comfortable bed, a beautiful wood fire for cooler evenings and an amazing bath with views to die for. The deck was a gorgeous spot to sit and watch the abundant wildlife go by. Yael was a super helpful and gracious host - between a beautiful welcome platter and the breakfast platter that we pre-ordered we had a groaning fridge waiting for us, and she gave us some great suggestions for things to explore around the island. A beautiful opportunity for a recharge, I wish we could've stayed longer!

We had a fantastic long weekend at Ecopia and exploring Kangaroo Island. The house is spacious and luxurious, with very comfortable beds and lounges. The house has amazing views across the tranquil property, and the sunsets from the back deck were absolutely stunning. The abundance of wildlife on the property is incredible- without trying very hard we saw koalas, an echidna, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, wedge tailed eagles, and so many more birds.
Ecopia is so quiet and feels so beautifully isolated from the rest of civilisation, but is well position in the middle of the island to easily explore all of the attractions of KI.
The kitchen is also very well equiped with everything you could need to prepare and enjoy meals with family and friends, and Yael and Robert are fantastic hosts.

We spent two phenomenal nights and three great days on KI. While the beauty of the Island, the amazing wildlife, and sights like the pups on Seal Bay and the varying ecologies were all incredible, having Ecopia as a home base was the icing on the cake.
A cosy, beautiful setting, so well maintained and private- it was perfect. Being able to walk about and share the space with kangaroos, and to come out at night and see stars like nowhere else- just breathtaking.
Yael and Rob were great hosts, and everything was just so easy. I would definitely recommend Ecopia Retreats as a central, beautiful base of operations for any visitor to KI!

Kangaroo Island is a wildlife haven and Ecopia sits at its heart. We were not prepared for the nature elixir Ecopia provides. The lush villas are set to capture stunning views that bring the landscape in, and your neighbours are koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and the endangered glossy black cockatoo. Yael and Rob are wonderful hosts with thoughtful offerings and exceptional knowledge of KI and the wildlife. Ecopia is like no other holiday experience

My family and I spent 3 nights at Ecopia recently, and it was a truly amazing experience. The place is very well furnished and spacious, and the owners even prepared some welcome goodies for us. The property itself is in a very quiet, peaceful area with plenty of wildlife around. It is also very conveniently located being more or less in the center of Kangaroo Island.

Beautiful natural surroundings with excellent comfort and simple/great taste In decor- of course the highlight was the slow combustion stove with great wood.

Wonderful luxury stay showcasing the best of KI! Yael was an absolutely excellent host, with great communication and wonderful hospitality. We were greeted by a beautiful cheese platter with local ingredients and a bottle of KI wine. From watching kangaroos hopping by our windows, to sitting by the roaring fire playing scrabble, to the luxurious huge bathtub by the floor to ceiling window, there's nothing more you could ask for in accommodation!

We recently stayed at Ecopia Retreat on KI. We are keen bird watchers and love wildlife.
The accommodation was lovely, warm, cosy and quite luxurious in a peaceful, remote setting. Expensive we thought at $750.00 per night. The TV poor quality and very tiny for such a high end establishment.
We enjoyed our 3 day stay but feel there are a few details that future guests should be aware of.
Firstly the need for self catering. The accommodation has a well set up kitchen (food etc is available from the IGA at the ferry terminal but we didn't realise we should have stocked up!) We were very appreciative of the cheese and wine waiting for us upon arrival as we had no food! We were under the illusion there would be amazing food and wine experiences all over the island. Definitely not the case at the end of May. There is a very down
market (and completely empty on a Tuesday night) pub about half an hour away from Ecopia along dirt roads. Other establishments were either closed until much later in the year or very very average in their offerings.
The wildlife was plentiful, koalas, echidnas and kangaroos and the walk around the accommodation beautiful.
We spent a great deal of our trip driving to various sights (absolutely lovely!) but at least Ecopia is central.
We would recommend Ecopia for those guests who are happy to eat at home, enjoy a remote island experience and who are not too bothered about watching TV if the weather turns bad. (honeymooners paradise!)
We are glad to have experienced Ecopia and appreciate the efforts made by the owners to make it "eco" and relaxing, the wildlife definitely the highlight.

Absolutely stunning accommodation and location, with native animals everywhere. The food platters were exceptional and we were given extras without charge. The Hosts were amazing, extremely helpful and responded to any message promptly. I would highly recommend the Ecopia Retreat to anyone looking for great accommodation on KI.

We had such a magical stay here at Ecopia! The villa was beautifully decorated and incredibly warm and cozy (just what you want in the middle of winter!) but the most special part for us was being immersed in the natural wilderness and being surrounded by all the wildlife on the property. You can tell that care and attention have gone into every detail inside and out, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the bathtub. It's a very spacious villa, and feels even moreso with the large windows that make you feel connected to the wilderness outside, even while you enjoy a glass of red in front of the wood fireplace. Loved every minute of our stay here!

My partner surprised me with a 3 night stay for my birthday back in March. And I could not imagine a better place to have spent it. The villa was absolutely stunning, very well thought out and beautifully designed. The location made It felt so secluded and intimate.
It was such a beautiful experience waking up to the local wildlife every morning and getting some night time visitors on the deck.
We had such a great time and wished we had stayed even longer. We can’t recommend it enough!
