Eastern Garden Chinese Restaurant reviews
56 Food was decent. Service was horrible. Waited 10 minutes to be seated at the front with waiters just watching from the inside.
Food was ok. Not suitable for children as they do not have suitable cutlery for them.
Took forever to get attention of waiters to place an order. Too hyped based on previous reputation. Better places for Yum Cha around.
Bring on the prawns and bugs.
I was invited to the $70 all you can eat today. I should have worn bigger pants. AC was a bit average on the window sides. Only had soft drinks but they were $16 unlimited. Way to much batter for me, but I would have eaten 100+ prawns and bugs.
Get on it folks. Only January.
Dinner review
Good stuff:
Service was decent. Peking duck pancakes made in-house. Complimentary dessert (biscuits) is always a nice touch. Fancy decor (as always).
What I found disappointing:
Every dish was too salty. Pre-cut re-heated Peking duck portions were dry and far less meat than you would expect for a whole duck.
What I found strange:
Wait staff didn't confirm with us the type of tea we wanted. We eventually came to realise it wasn't quite the calibre or authenticity of restaurant you would expect from the decor.
We weren't offered a dessert menu before (or after) the complimentary biscuits came out after the table was cleared despite being happy to and looking forward to indulging in their paid dessert options.
I've had great experiences here previously but something about the place feels off.
When paying the bill, please note that chili oil needs to be charged separately. A small plate of chili oil is only given to a table, no matter how many people there are. Others asked for chili oil at an additional charge.

I filtered reviews by "Newest" and yep the majority are one star.
My one star rating is for the service. I don't expect good service, but I do expect "service". The staff are very condescending, arrogant and rude.
I also do not expect the "Manager" (Mr. Blue Shirt) to be swearing "diu this diu that" about customers in front of their face.
There are only three ribs in black bean sauce, and the rest are pork belly. The fried beef is very oily, not as fragrant as before, very disappointed
Food was average but expensive, poor customer service, ordered jasmine tea but the waiter brought me the wrong one! Spent $ 120 for 2 adults, didn’t enjoy the whole meal time
Absolutely amazing yum cha. Ignore the other reviews about service, it was good. They had just the right amount of interaction and friendliness. 10/10, going to bring my family there another time. Also the majority of patrons were chinese, which spells well.
Honestly speaking, we walked in thinking how can you mess up yumcha but this place kinda proves you can. Everything is bland. Fair that the congee is bland but bruva no chicken stock or anything? Am I sick? Did I get covid? Nah cuhz. The fried tentacles were decent though and we enjoyed them enough to want to them away. The service overall was mediocre and slow. Judged whether we can finish the food. Granted if it was decent then yes. However it's just. Like. My brother made the food with his big left toe and tasted it with his elbows.
I think it's safe to say, we won't be coming back
Food used to be great. Fried rice could use some more flavour. Honey chicken needs MORE HONEY.
Having my lunch here today, overall is good. Love the salt and pepper squid here. Good atmosphere, average service. But the skin of steam prawn dumplings and Shanghai xiao long bao was too thick.
Poor service and unwelcoming behaviour from the manager.
Prefer to go to others better Chinese Restaurant.
Quite bad experience. We had to wait for 1 hour for our food and decided to leave. They kept telling us that the food was coming but after 1 hour, we could not wait for any longer. The management could not careless. They cleaned the table straight away after we stood up. We have been to the restaurant for 5 years now and will not come back to be treated like this.
Average food and terrible service.
Typical so-called Chinese food, everthing keep in baking soda before cooking, such as beef, prawns and squids.
No greeting or any other communication.
Well I won't be going back.
The staff were very rude, impatient, he even raised his voice at an older customer to get out of the way, the way he acted I think it's the owner.
The food was no taste, very similar to what I imagine cardboard to taste like, we tried a bit of everything and usually yumcha has one okay dish, but none.
If you want good yumcha stick to the inner city.
I went in there by myself and order a soup. They refused to serve me because I don’t spend enough money for them to serve me. SO TERRIBLE!
Edible food but there was flies in both the soy sauce bottle and vinegar bottle when we poured it out.
Great food but AWFUL customer service, rushing us to finish our food and taking away our water bottle and dishes while I am still EATING! Unbelievable! Will never ever go back. It is not worth my time and money to sit in that restaurant! Strongly not recommended! Please don’t go there!
The worst food ever had in my life. Wouldn't give it to my dog. Never ever again. Arrogant and ignorant service. What would you expect anyway. They are, what they are. Strongly recommend not to dine in that place. Shame on them.
The only restaurant I won’t feel sorry if they get flushed out from the industry due to covid thanks to its worst customer service in South Australia.
