Dr Robert Fassina

After hobbling in to Dr Fassina’s rooms in May, I was booked in within 2weeks to have both knees replaced… I had two ACL’s and 8 arthroscopies by the time I was 50 due to netball injuries with severe OA…My surgeries were two weeks apart and I did question whether I would be OK. But Dr Fassina was very reassuring and I felt very confident after meeting him.
Dr Fassina is extremely professional along with his receptionist Becky and the whole experience was terrific. His skill as a surgeon is second to none and I can’t believe how quickly I recovered. I was expecting to be more bed ridden a lot longer.
My legs are now straight for the first time and my only complaint is I wish I had seen him sooner. Thankyou Dr Fassina and anyone who needs a good orthopaedic surgeon I can’t recommend him enough

If I could put an excited yellow minion jumping up and down here I would, as that is how I now feel, young and enthusiastic about life after my partial knee replacement by Dr Robert Fassina at Easter in the Burnside Hospital.

Dr Fassina’s dedication to advancement in surgery techniques, his skills in assisting the Mako robot perform the partial knee replacement is profound. Seriously this man is fantastic and the hospital staff he works alongside are also skilled, professional, happy, and compassionate. This was my 9th surgery in 9 years after a major accident and this was the best of those hospital stays.spend a lot of time to choose the surgeons for the surgery and look at the skill set and make sure they are abreast of modern techniques in Australia and the world. Dr Fassina was a perfect choice for my surgery as I was too young for a total knee replacement and the rest of my knee was solid. My kneecap sounded like a chip packet as it had osteoarthritis in the kneecap and grinding on the femur. This would never repair by itself, and I did not want to nurse it for another 10 years by limiting life’s activities and even clothing choices as they placed pressure on the compartment that had no cartilage to buffer it. I am pleased to say I now have my yoga pants back on and back on the mat with full bend. Post op 6 weeks.

Success is a joint project. The surgeon, the lead up conditioning pre op of your body and the post op rehab. I have written this with happy jest and compliments abound as I have had a lot of mistreatments by medicos over the last 9 years and my experience with Dr Robert Fassina was not one of them.

Having worked as an orthopaedic surgeon for over 35 years, I had not considered requiring surgery myself. Being on the "otherside" of surgery has been easy under Dr Fassina's care. My experience with Dr Fassina was exceptional. I cannot thank him enough for the successful outcome.
From booking with his friendly personal assistance Bianca to surgical planning and post knee replacement was exceptionally well planned and executed.

Being a traditionally trained surgeon I had never contemplated working along-side a robot to perform parts of the surgery. Dr Fassina as I have learned is a leader in the filed of the Mako- robotic assisted knee and hip replacement surgery. Surgery is planned with a CT scan and computer software. During surgery the Mako robot under Dr Fassina's guidance performs calculations and assists to implant the knee replacement with millimetre degree of accuracy. This technology and planning was not available when I performed my 1st knee replacement 40 years ago.

The results speak for themselves. After Dr Fassina's anaesthetist performed a spinal block I was comfortable and reading the newspaper 2 hours post procedure. I was able to walk out of hospital and after 6 weeks I am walking to the local shopping centre.

I am very grateful to Dr Fassina and his team. As a retired surgeon I considered my option of surgeon carefully. I knew Dr Fassina had all the right credentials and technical experience to perform the op, I however learned his mix of personality, communication and clinic setup is unique. Personalised care is what every patient shoulder recieve, together with attention to detail from your surgeon the outcome will be good.

I am now into my 3rd month since having total knee replacements by Dr Robert Fassina.
Initially I was hesitant to have them both done close together (2 & 1/2 weeks between surgery) but now looking back it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Well, 3 1/2 months ago my wife had her left hip replaced.she's back riding horses now and has never been happier.her overall seamless transition to the new hip, prompted me to consider getting my right hip replaced, which has been plaguing me for years. Just 52 hours after my op with Dr Fassina, I am up and about with little or no pain.looking forward to getting back onto horses myself and getting my golf handicap back to single figures. If anyone is considering a hip replacement my first hand experience with Dr Robert Fassina and his team has been faultless.it will be the best decision you'll make in preparation to enjoy quality years ahead. In addition to this, the staff at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital are so friendly and professional, I couldn't be more happier.

Where do I start? At my first appointment I felt at ease as I met Dr Fassina. A welcoming smile, a hello, and an earnest, "how are you? " He engages you in conversation immediately and just so effortlessly. When explaining what will happen pre, during and after the surgery, you feel at ease and quite confident you'll be well looked after. This is exactly what happened. Not once was I afraid or apprehensive. My surgery was a roaring success. Dr Fassina's surgical method, in my case was very successful. I can bend my knee without pain and I can finally walk without a waddle thanks to Dr Fassina. I wouldn't go to anyone else for hip or knee issues.

My mum recently had a hip replacement and is very happy with the outcome. Right from the beginning Dr Fassina was able to reassure her that her pain would subside as soon as the surgery had taken place, his kind and professional nature eased her worry. Post surgery she is extremely happy, highly recommending anyone with extreme hip pain to see Dr Fassina.
