Coorong Waterfront Retreat reviews
43 What a wonderful, beautifully present holiday accommodation this is. Everything you need on hand and plenty of things you don't need but really appreciate them being there. We loved the garden. The beds are so comfy, the fire easy to manage. The owners provide a library of things to do and see, so well presented.
Thank you for all your effort.
Fabulous, peaceful place to stay. Wonderful views, so well appointed and spotlessly clean. Loved the Guest Garden. Hosts are delightful, interesting and inspirational. Thanks so much Wendy and Dean
Great accommodation, very comfortable and well equipped. Cozying up by the fire after a day of enjoying the local wildlife and scenery by foot, bike, and/or kayak - what more could you want! A perfect base for exploring the beautiful Coorong.
A fabulous location and a well appointed, clean property, not too far from Meningie Communication with the owners was excellent.
It was our first visit to the Coorong and we couldn't have wanted for a better introduction. We loved seeing the local birdlife and going to sleep at night listening to the chorus of frogs.
Wow! Stop looking anywhere else.
We are Stayz guesthouse hosts, so we reckon we know!
Classy house, extremely well presented, thoughtfully equipped.
The direct views to the Coorong and it's sunsets are glorious.
The gardens are the best on the 7 mile strip, birds abound and you have your own fresh greens to pick.
Wendy and Dean who live nearby go the extra step: very welcoming, friendly but discreet.
We loved our 10 day stay.

An exceptional place to stay. The location is perfect, as is the quality of the accommodation. However, it’s the attention to detail and generosity of hosts Wendy and Dean that impresses most. We can thoroughly recommend the Coorong Waterfront Retreat as a perfect base to explore the area or to simply relax. A first class experience for guests of any age.
Stayed for three nights with my partner and two kids. The house comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay and then some. The hosts clearly put a lot of care and thought into ensuing you have a good time. The view across the Coorong from the living area is a highlight. This is a perfect spot if you want to get out and explore on the bikes and kayaks provided or if you just want to chill out in by the fire and watch the birds fly past. We did a bit a of both.
Fantastic location; warm and welcoming interior and setting with everything that you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. Convenience of kayaks and bicycles make for perfect adventures to explore your surrounds. Personalised extras demonstrate the lengths that Wendy (host) is prepared to go to to make your stay special. Take advantage of the quick-reference information and folders put together to help get to know your holiday destination quickly without the time taken to research for yourself. Lovely home and garden make for the perfect get-away amongst the tranquility of the Coorong! Highly recommend.
We stayed here for two nights this week on a little family road trip.
We had a lovely time! You can tell the owners love the property and the area. There was lots of booklets, pamphlets, local books and movies to enjoy. Any info you wanted about local walks etc was all available. The effort was appreciated, especially as the internet can be a bit spotty in the area:)
Also appreciated the communal food pantry and fridge… a cute, thoughtful addition.
The view right outside was incredible, as was the bird life flying by.
Highly recommend staying here!
Just the best

Really thoughtful design, beautifully clean, peaceful with divine view, gorgeous garden, loved every second, really want to come back in winter and get the fire cranking! Cheers, Mike, Amanda, Magenta and Angus ️
This is one of our favourite places to escape from the daily busy life with beautiful wines from Langhorne Creek. Very comfortable and lovely. I enjoyed walking along the Coorong, watching pelicans, drawing sceneries and listening frogs in bed. I would like to visit in winter or spring next time.
Fantastic stay at Coorong Waterfront Retreat. Awesome location, opposite the water. Impressive bird life in the area and the views from the lounge room are breath taking. Our children loved taking the kayaks out and we really enjoyed the bike rides along the water front. The house itself was clean, beautifully appointed, and had brilliant information about the local area. The small touches such as welcome gift, sustainable garden with local herbs, telescope, and even a Coorong based board game made it an even better stay. We loved the quiet location, was a great way to relax. Would come back again.
Absolutely cannot rate this place highly enough. It has literally everything you need and more. The owners are wonderful human beings. It's a great place situated perfectly on the Coorong with a beautiful view. Great outdoor area. 3 bedrooms with queens. Wonderful cooking and lounge area. Very clean. Great garden with seeds from it. They have a seed swap and extras you can use or leave for others.
Also has a nice big bath.
What a wonderful retreat, right on the waterfront of the Coorong, south of Meningie.
The house is well-appointed, inside and out, spacious, modern design, easy living with quality household facilities. The comprehensive and easy access Information on the local area, its extensive natural resources, wildlife, local walks, activities and local indigenous culture and crafts was very helpful in planning our activities.
One highlight of our adventure was taking the kayaks provided to cross the Coorong waters and then hike across the massive sand dunes to the Southern Ocean.
Magic, Storm Boy Country.
A retreat for all seasons, we will be back!

Coorong Retreat was the best private holiday accommodation we've stayed in. The environment is always in view - the Coorong itself and the native plants and birds in the garden. Staying in the house felt as natural as being at home. Every time we wondered if there was a particular item, it was at hand. Operating instructions were easy to follow. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Paintings and books provided a wonderful introduction to the area. We particularly appreciated the folders of things to do and see that included maps and the sort of details that make a new place accessible without the first day of your holiday involving trial and error exploration. Wifi is available which is particularly helpful if your mobile isn't with Telstra. A great place to get to know the Coorong and/or wind down and refresh. Thank you Wendy and Dean.
The Coorong Waterfront Retreat is a real gem. This is a complete 3 bedroom house with a spectacular view of the Coorong. Extremely well appointed interior, very clean and a beautiful private rear garden. Very comfortable whatever the weather may be. Close to all major SA National Parks walks and drives.
We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.
Perfect place for a small group to enjoy the quiet and the view. Loved the fireplace. Great kitchen with all the basics.
This accommodation provided everything we could want/need and it was all high quality and immaculately clean. The hosts had gone the extra mile with everything from crockery, utensils, fancy teas and coffee, a gift basket with genuine bush tucker, house and tourism information, entertainment products, kayaks and push bikes, washing liquids and even candles for a relaxing bath. Most importantly, the beds were comfortable.
We particularly enjoyed the vegetable garden, sitting by the frog pond, and spying on pelicans through the telescope. And you couldn't get a better location, right on the waters edge, looking across to giant sand hills.
Beautiful, comfortable and well equipped villa. Great amenities, beautiful garden and amazing scenery. Unfortunately, as we arrived at the property there was a strong sulphite stench. Apparently it came from the vegetations. The lagoon was inaccessible due to the thick black sticky mud, we nearly slipped several times trying to walk to the water. This continues along the waterfront, we actually drove several km hoping to be able to reach the water. Our shoes were ruined as the mud stained and got stuck to our shoes. It was no wonder that the local walk along the road rather than walking along the water. Such a shame.
We had an unforgettable trip just because of the property and the location. Thanks to both Wendy and Dean for our 5 experience. Everything in the property was very well thought of. Truly self contained Retreat home and well deserved recognitions.
Looking forward to return very soon for a longer period.
