Cibo Espresso reviews
37When I meet up with friends or family, we typically go to Cibo in Norwood. I've come here countless times for years, drawn to their delightful cakes and coffees. Despite usually enjoying consistency and friendly service, today was disappointing. The outdoor area floor was dirty with pigeons, there was a terrible odour outside amongst bird poop scattered around, tables were filled with dirty dishes creating an unappealing dining environment. There were only a few staff on hand, despite evident customer line-ups, it was a bit chaotic. Fortunately, one of the workers (Courtney), brightened my experience with her usual excellent service and friendliness. Despite delays, she assured me my coffee would be out soon. I appreciate her warmth and efficiency, especially in contrast to another worker who occasionally serves me, I’m not sure about her name but she seems to always be dazed or confused? Maybe not enough training. Coffee at least was delicious.
Today I ordered a flat white in a take away cup which I sat outside to drink. When it was served It came with no lid so I asked the waiter if I could have a lid please.
She replied they are inside and she was super busy and walked away.
Was shocked by this comment and service as she then walked pass my table at least seven times while serving other tables which amazed me that she couldn't have brought a lid back on her next table service she was doing.
Obviously she struggles with multi tasking and needs to improve on her customer service skills.
IMHO this Cibo is the best of Cibo cafes! The staff are friendly & very helpful. I always thank & complement them on leaving, esp for making coffee how I asked for it. If they make a mistake, I let them know politely. They always fix it & apologise! Sometimes when they're very busy, they might overlook something. I respect workers who do their best for us! It's okay if a worker is having a 'hard' day; they are humans NOT slaves to some arrogant, rude customers! Generally, the majority of workers at this Cibo are very well trained. We should give young workers who are learning space-time to become experienced!
Re: food is to my taste & reasonably priced. You can sit inside or outside which is Gr8!?
Their coffee's good and their snacks are too, but to charge an extra dollar for a long black because you ask for decaffeinated is price gouging when the extra cost is minimal and the chance of alienating a regular patron is extremely high.
Coffee is consistently good but there is NEVER enough staff on, mostly in the morning times! Can tell they are run off their feet, barista is fine making coffee but the other staff member taking orders, heating food, bringing coffee to tables, collecting dishes! Always ends up being a decent wait for coffee in the morning after you order because the person is busy.
Good veggie focaccia, coffee a tad weak, I like a strong bold chocolate nutty taste, was more lite & milky tasting, could have done with another shot in my large coffee, again probably spoiled by excellent coffee in local cafe's.
Left half a mug way to milky & I have soy.
Great welcoming staff, fast service.
Wouldn't come back for coffee but the food isn't bad.
Delightful staff member added another shot to my coffee, much better so extra star.
Excellent service by a beautiful girl with an accent: D and the other girl on floor was incredible, running around and so sweet made sure we had everything and went out of her way to do so and had the bluest eyes! Coffee was also terrific.
Good coffee and food but the young man (obviously on his break) standing at the front counter carrying on like a school boy was very irritating. That the other barista seemed to enjoy his antics was disappointing. Grow up! You were such a fool.
Arrived at Cibo Norwood Parade this morning, Grace advised she was a man down for whatever reason. Many people lining up, she handled herself with professionalism and incredible service bringing out coffees and food in great time and again professionally. Incredible service from a young person handling it all on her own. Cibo well done for hiring such professional staff who can be flexible at a moment’s notice! Grace congrats on your service and professionalism!
Waiter poured black hot coffee all over my son tyrone tyrone jr (which is fine) but a drop landed on my cakes, 1 STAR.
Cibo Espresso is a well known land Mark on the corner of Hurt St and Halifax St with inside or verandah dining. People are always sipping coffee or enjoying break, or light lunch (sandwiches etc) watching the traffic pass by or tinkling their computers. A popular meeting place.
Quality of coffee has dived over the years. Last few have been below average. Convenient location.
Have been going here for years but far less than before as it’s gotten average in the last few years. A few weeks ago I was served a scalding hot long black (they’re not meant to burn your mouth) and I decided to stop going there. Made the mistake of returning with my young son very recently and this time he was served a scalding hot BABYCINO. Who does that? The barista justified it using some weird mental gymnastics about how it has to be hot and thanked me for the ‘feedback’ when I told him. Um no buddy, serving scalding hot beverages to children isn’t ‘feedback’, it’s serious and a potential lawsuit for you. Especially when you haven’t warned that it’s boiling hot. There’s a reason no one goes to Cibo anymore.
Just bought a fruit salad from here, it was literally rotten, so disgusting! Please be aware the quality of food here has deteriorated significantly, very disappointing.
It is okay on sunny days.
Today was raining and very cold weather.
Difficult to enjoy the ambience due to the weather.
Not busy. Food fresh. Milk shake nice and cold.
Service quick and friendly staff.
After praising all cibos this coffee seemed weak compared to others. Be interesting to know if others have noticed this or it was a one off.
Very nice here! Quality coffee, and we had a delicious avocado and caramelised onion sandwich. Our coffee order was incorrect, but still great
Was very busy when we went here. Staff were friendly. And coffee was okay. But we did have to wait about 15 mins for toasted banana bread.
Nothing to rave about and nothing to complain about. Nice strong coffee and delivered with a smile.
All we need. 4 stars.
Come down for a good coffee.
Rude staff. If you know then they will do your order first, regardless if 10 people ordered before.
