Chu Chu reviews
15Fresh and tasty salad and rice bowls. Served quickly by the friendly staff. Pleasant place to eat with many tables.
Sad to have to edit my review but this place has kinda gone downhill recently. The barista I used to see all the time has gone and the the current barista staff, while friendly, just aren't really enticing me back.
Their breakfast options are quite delicious but I've come back for lunch lately and wasn't terribly impressed. Their menu has changed recently (so my favourite dish is gone) and instead I tried the Japanese Curry and it was pretty average. Chicken thigh pieces were not very succulent and the curry roux tasted like a watered down golden curry packet.
Unfortunately there's too many other coffee and lunch options around to keep spending my money here, apart from picking up a breakfast.
Blatantly lied on their menu and in person, stating that the udon is “vegetarian”, but has fish in it. Dismissive when reminded that fish are not a vegetable. I’m disappointed and disgusted.
At least one of the items marked “V” on their menu contains meat products. If Australia had better legislation, this would be a violation of the truth-in-menu laws that are sorely needed. For now, it is just a violation of customers’ trust.
This is a delightful chilled out corner cafe with serious coffee and awfully good asian-inspired brekkie and brunch fare. I ain't no vegan vigilante, but if pressed, I might just admit to being an vegangelist for Chu Chu and its spunky sibling on The Parade (Mr Chu's). P. S. Ask for the sambal – zinggg!
Great options, great food, great staff and management that have pride in what they provide. Well worth dropping into.
The staff are lovely and service is prompt. The Yuzu soba salad with tofu is excellent, but their egg sandwiches seem to have sugar in them (? !). Keen to try their vegan ramen. Interesting range of food options, and the coffee used to be reliably good - but now, sadly, often tastes burnt. Their Japanese filter coffee is top notch (but be prepared to wait. I'd hoped their Matcha latte would be less prepackaged than some other places, but alas, no, it's just the usual blend.
Delicious, fresh food with a great variety, food served quickly and with awesome customer service: D
Breakfast, lunch and coffees are always good at Chu Chu. Been coming to this place for years and always great flavourful food. I've tried everything on their menu. Owner and staff are wonderful people. Very highly recommended!
+ Delicious Food
+ Great Service
- Can be a bit expensive
Chu Chu's crackling pork is one of the best crackling pork I've had the pleasure of eating.
Their crackling pork is well seasoned, juicy and has the appropriate level of 'crackling'-ness.
Also tried their katsu sandwich and it was also very tasty although it was a bit on the more expensive side. The bread was soft and the chicken was juicy and crispy.
Overall, I had pleasant experience at Chu Chu and would definitely come back to try their other dishes.
Great service and great food. I've only been there 3 times, but they even remembered my cutlery preference and served me with otemoto and not a fork.
The most lovely and friendly staff! Great coffee and the breakfast croissant is delicious. Very quick service and nice clean Cafe.
Bad value for money. They only offer two sizes, they are both small and taste average. Medium sizes elsewhere are considered Large there and cost $6. Perhaps other foods e.g. Lunch and desserts are good but coffee is not their strong point
Not bad food, but don't expect the flavour of a banh mi from their pork roll. As long as your expectations are accurately set you'll enjoy!
Excellent service, food need improvement, ordered pork rice bowl and ramen.soup was extremely salty, raw bean sprout. Pork rice bowl I got a broken yolk sousvide egg, pork was cold and not crispy at all, raw radish salad not quite fresh, overall the dish need a sauce.smoothie was good.
