Chateau Dorrien Winery reviews
36 Great Mead, White Port and Red wine. 3 of us visited and we all went away with our favourites.
Busy but great service.definitely recommend
Popped in with some friends while exploring the Barossa and was warmly welcomed upon entry! Open setting and interesting museum areas with impeccable customer service and delicious produce!
This is a great cellar door to visit in a former winery building. It features a period fitout, a museum display area, a lounge, a bar, and plenty of wine for tasting. The vats have been painted to document the move from Prussia to the Barossa, reflecting the new colony and the development of the local wine industry. The radio and archive collection is unique. In terms of wines, the highlight for me was the mead selection, which I surprisingly liked, and unique white port, which was brilliant. The local area is open and accessible near Seppeltsfield.
The best, the owner or the manager had spent 40mins with us and we were able to try his MEAD collection which was so good and his liquors and honey white ports at a reasonable price will come back
Oh the selection of mead and enriched wines (port). We definitely learn a lot here and the port and mead was delicious. Tasting is free and you get to try a few selection. Definitely visit here if you like port wine and mead.
We had Levi talk us through all the beautiful ports and mead's and they were all delicious. What a fantastic experience!
Great service, great tasting options. Walked away with 5 bottles and still want more. Definitely worth a visit.
Wow, I actually liked 80% of what we tasted. Treated like royalty. The meads were heated, something I did not know. It was such a relief as the previous winery we didn't like anything (Rockford) walked out with 2 boxes. Definitely on the return list.
What a hidden gem! We pulled in on a whim and we were not disappointed! The ladies behind the bar were very lovely and very knowledgeable. Their products were some of my favourites from our trip!
Awesome winery, last stop on the tour and maybe the best.
Fellow at the bar was very knowledgeable and loves talking.
The mead is pretty awesome and there's some very old stuff around the place to check out.
If only there was some bar stools it would be perfect. Everyone was a little legless at this stage.
Great place.
This is a great little family owned winery and the meads are a really nice suprise and very tasty.
Hard 5 stars. Bring friends and families to here and never be disappointed. Over valuable, expected wines here. Not a big brand like Jacobs, but give biggest surprise.
Also I am happy nothing change here at all including the prices.
There are some exhibitions if continue hanging towards inside
A place that makes u feel at home, and the wine makes you feel warm cosy.recommend doing a tasting!
Nice array of products, love the honey based drinks as can also be drunk with other mixes or on fruit or icecream.
Friendly staff and knowledgeable
We can’t recommend a visit to Chateau Dorrien more highly. It was the best part of our day trip to the Barossa. Levi, the bartender, was the most generous, charismatic and hospitable gentleman we met all day! The sweet wines were delicious and we learnt so so much about the wine making process, history and culture of the region. Please pay this winery a visit if you have the chance.
Best service, super friendly! Highly recommend if you’re driving past. Makes you feel warm and cosy like you’re at home
Nice local wine cellar in SA. They gave wine tasting of a range of their product for just $5, to me it's much more worth than tasting the Penfold wine, simply because I don't drink much and its nice trying local products. But of if you wana taste the wine that you may buy in supermarket maybe the popular brands like Jacob Creek is better choice for wine tasting.
Probably my favourite winery in all of the Barossa Valley. The sweet wines and mead are delicious. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, there's a seperate area for kids to go and play and the view is amazing.
Only $5 to sample approx 20 different types of wines, fortified wines and meads. Great service and delicious tastings.
