Cape Borda Lighthouse Keepers Heritage Accommodation reviews
11The furthest north west corner of KI that u could reach, the square light house if quite interested, attached pictures fyi, worth to drop by the lookout near by
Long rough drive to get here. Regrowth after the Fire is slowly happening. Some paths closed due to the fires damaged. Not worth the long rough drive unless you are a lighthouse freak. Give it another 12 months for the bush to regenerate. It will improve. Road could do with a grade. Jim
It would have helped if the sign that it was closed Wednesday and Thursday was at the beginning of the dirt road and not 15kms in. We were not the only couple caught out, each and every couple of which there were 14 of us were not happy. We all commented on this anomaly. The lighthouse and cottages are cute, and the walk OK. But be warned the walk from the car park costs $3 and to walk into the lighthouse compound itself another $5.
Great place and great tour.
Make sure you drive to the conditions of the road and allow ample travel time. Remember where you are: this is a dirt road with a lot of bumps. Be mindful and alert. It's worth the trip out.
Hit the 12.30pm tour for the cannon firing.
Brilliant place to stay. The house has everything you need to make your stay complete but there is no TV etc. Limited internet - you need to stand at the right spot for it to work so work on the basis you are a light house keeper 120 years ago
Great, interesting place to visit, would have given 5 stars but the road to get there was shocking, I have a 4x4 and it shook the teeth out my jaw, they would get more visitors if the road was graded or even better sealed.
Dirt road, plenty of corrugations and driving challenges. Better to find out guided tour timings from website and allow plenty of time to reach there. We did all these and we're not disappointed. As I already read in many reviews, the care taker was so pationate, the tour was informative and enjoyable.
The water view is a lot more than 180 degree which makes it a breathtaking view. We saw the cannon firing too. Again, patchy internet. You must have lunch packed. We could buy icecream there.
After 30 km of "dirt" road, a place lost away from the anything, only the immensity of the sea and a fanny guardian.it was worth it
Long drive down a well graded dirt road to this remote lighthouse station. Road is good but had some corrugated sections towards the end. 2WD vehicle can handle it in the dry. Maybe be careful in the wet. Not much to see and do at the actual site apart from a small museum. There is an honesty box to put your visitor fees in if you do self guided so bring some cash. Story around the lighthouse is interesting as is the reason to have the cannon which goes off at 1pm daily.
A fantastic lighthouse, and the people were very friendly and helpful. Interesting to learn the history. Well worth the drive (the road was muddy, but I got through with a 2-wheel drive, although 4-wheel would have been better.)
Mick is amazing. Go visit if you have any interest in history or lighthouses. He is the best tour guide on the island.
