Bluethumb Online Art Gallery

Having recently sold my first two artworks at Bluethumb in the last week, I am extremely happy that my works have now found their new forever homes. I am finding it so easy to upload new pieces and the whole process has been so smooth. I am very grateful to the team for all their help thus far and I look forward to continuing to showcase my creations on this platform, amongst so many talented artists.

Review from an artist.

Now that I’m no longer associated with the gallery I can write an honest review. My last one was personally requested to make them look good after they read my last honest review. This may appear as an update.

Artists are told that if they sell an artwork anywhere else for more they will get kicked off, Bluethumb also takes 40% commission and adds 9% GST on top. So if you stick to their rules you have to lose 50% of your hard earned cash to Bluethumbs rules. I didn’t follow this and I guess they pulled a blind eye.

The other rules have a similar vibe, oppressive. I’m quite sure I was suspended for having my insta on there. Something along those lines.

After my last review I gave them a very detailed email with feedback that they asked for on how their gallery fails compared to other online galleries. They implemented the changes and I didn’t even receive a thank you.

The final straw for me was when they sided with another artist who was being slanderous and racist toward me. This was documented in one of my Patreon videos as it was a plot twist of my canvas recent hunt. 
Everyone I showed the screenshots to is appauled at the situation. I never received an apology, I was further vilified for defending myself by calling her out.

Their overall vibe is decor and prints, two things that are destroying the art industry. 

I’m glad to not have my art on their website anymore. The representative, Stephen, who deleted my account for me didn’t look at the situation with context and ignored that I’d most likely be leaving due to a series of events.

The other online galleries don’t cause me any drama, ever. Literally never. Look up the artists name and buy direct.

Bluethumb is an exceptional user friendly platform for artists and art collectors alike. The team are friendly and helpful, creating a diverse art community.

I decided to give Bluethumb a go selling some of my artwork. The site is so user friendly and really easy to set up a profile and load up art. I sold 2 large paintings in the first week, which I was really happy with. One was being sent to the USA, and I was able to speak to a staff member at Bluethumb who walked me through the process of organising international freight. It’s fantastic to be able to speak to someone personally, something I didn’t expect when I joined. Overall very happy with the site, I have recommended it to other artist friends!

As an artist on Bluethumb I can only say positive things about them. They got my art all around Australia and even a few overseas sales. When an artwork sells I am supported through the process the whole way. Bluethumb arranges the courier for overseas sales so there’s no drama there. For small works in Australia I just drop at my local post office and larger works are couriered. We are guided in wrapping safely to reach buyers in top condition. Any artist not on Bluethumb is missing out on a wider market.

Bluethumb staff respond to requests for help or information rapidly. This proactive approach is pleasing. It shows they take you seriously and respectfully.
I would like to see the sequence of steps they ask us to follow after a sale, explained simply and clearly. Feels good to sell a painting of course, so it will be great to process it smoothly. They do talk you through it so overall a wonderful service. Cheers!

I love pursuing original artworks from Australian Artists through Bluethumb Art Gallery. A very vibrant gallery with very helpful staff. All the paintings I have purchased via Bluethumb have arrived safely and quickly and I am very impressed by the art and the support given.

This is a most accessible website and service. The prices are good, and it's great that some come framed while others offer the choice of being framed and sent at a decent price. I found four paintings I really liked, of different subjects, styles and moods, and am very satisfied. The communication was excellent throughout. Delivery was startlingly prompt except for one artist who had to get out of hospital (understandably) and another (a fifth) who might have already sold the painting and was censured by Bluethumb. So you feel that there is control and efficiency as well as courtesy, and I loved the notes from each artist that came with the paintings - it made me feel connected with them and happy to be supporting them as well as pleasing myself.

I sell through online art galleries in Australia and oversea - Bluethumb outsells any of them by a significant margin, and provides excellent support.
