Blinman Mine reviews
35 A really nice tour with very knowledgeable guides. And only a short easy walk up the road from the pub.
Definitely not one to be missed!
Absolutely a credit to the town. A must see on any trip to the Flinders. Susan was an excellent guide full of knowledge and passion for a special town. Thank you for your time.
We did the copper mine tour with Mike as our guide. He was great at explaining the history and was so patient with our kids on the tour. He kept everyone engaged for the whole tour. A great experience! Definitely worth the drive to Blinman to go to the mine. A stop at the Miner's crib bakery after was also delicious.
A very interesting place to visit. Barbara our guide provided loads of interesting information about the mine and the grim lives of the miners. Conditions were an eye opener.
Conditions for workers have certainly changed for the better.
An informative tour that's worth a visit
Loved the mine tour. So many interesting stories about the miners and how the town once was. Highly recommended the 1h10m tour around the mine.
We had some spare time, we visited the area and looked around the area. Even visited the Blinman pub, check out the history within the premises
Verry cool tour experience lovely tour lady with sum good jokes in between defintly worth going and take the tour to also support the locals!
This is a MUST VISIT! The tour is excellent, one of the best mine / cave tours I've done in Australia.
The effort put in by the Blinman community to open up as much of the mine as they have for the tour is amazing.
Excellent, highly recommend.
Mike is a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable with a good strong voice which everyone can hear.
The guide was great and the town is worth a visit. The mine tour is billed as "With the installation of an innovative sound and light system; which includes storytelling, light boxes, music, a mix of theatre and mining history" well I can honestly say a few noises played over some speakers and normal lighting is not anything special. The tour over covers a few hundred meters and really consider of three tunnels. You go down one level. Yes yes safety first and all that. But the guide really saved it he was great. The self guided walking tour was OK. It's a shame the Government can throw some money there way to actually reconstructed the mine building which have long since being removed. If you are passing though do it. But lower your expectations.
Definitely worth the drive, even if you don't do the mine tour there's plenty to see, if you look closely at the rocks on the ground, you'll notice green lines through them, this it the copper oxide. You can see into the deep cut mining holes in the ground.
A great tour through the old Copper Mine. Susan our guide was very informative and helpful. A great time not to be missed.
The mine is run as a tourist attraction by the local people.
The mine itself was interesting. The Sound and Light show was low key but quite well done.
Susan, our guide stuck to the script but her manner was rather dictatorial and not very friendly.
An hour long tour inside the old Blinman mine. We booked the day before, and had a number of start times available. Only 3 others in our group which was a good number. Patrick our guide was very knowledgeable and had great facts about the history of the mine and the workers who had a bloody hard life underground. You don’t walk too far, so it’s accessible for most. Not too claustrophobic or dark for those unsure.
Paula did a fantastic job and I can highly recommend the tour as a “Must Do” whilst in the Flinders Ranges. She found herself working on her own on the 13th April. Her customer service in the shop prior to the tour, Her knowledge of the history of Bliman and workings of the mine was first class. The theatrics of the tour was great. Do yourself a favour. Book in and do it.
Great fun, very informative, Guide was very knowledgeable, very worthwhile, great learning experience for all age
We didn’t make it on this tour unfortunately, when we did go to purchase our tickets I had our 19 month old daughter with us. I asked for our tickets and the lady reluctantly and rudely said.well yes you can come however if you child cries you will need to leave the mine as it will disrupt the other people on the tour. This tour costs $40 per person and to be told of my young child cries which is hard to know given her age we will need to leave I found to be extremely rude, especially given it is a tour advertised for all ages. Very disappointed in the lack of care and service
Volunteer organisation runs the mine tours and does well to achieve the required safety standards because it's actually regulated as a mine.
Just what you expect, guided walk in the tunnel with local knowledge. Had two young kids who loved the experience. Walked around the top when it was done, kids had fun climbing the rocks. Remember to wear shoes (no thongs).
Absolutely fantastic and you have to get a Cornish pasty from the bakery they are beautiful best I've ever had
