Black Hill Conservation Park reviews
21Been coming here since i was little and everyday for the past 3 years. Always a comfortable climb, walk, hike. Plenty of wildlife to observe and views to be seen.
This place is amazing, so much to see. The tracks are great and physical. Views are absolutely spectacular
With a toddler in tow, I knew the steep trails wouldn't be an option but there's an option to still visit the Amber's Gully Ruins as it is only a short walk from the carpark on Gorge Road in Athelstone.
Pretty spot to see and loved learning about the history of the area on nearby linear track.
Needs to be open more longer hours since its daylight savings. I went past it on weekday and shuts at 4: 30pm and weekend hoping it will be open and its not open till Monday. I don't understand why its not open for more days and late hours. Can someone please explain that?
Great walks, some can be very steep and challenging, but very rewarding. Amazing views, lovely wildlife and various bush types
Driving past, I misread the Orchard track sign as Orchid. It become obvious when we stopped and walked the Orchard track and Eagle track loop. It is quite steep at places but rewarding with stunning views. The orchids were near the top of the hill and there are echidnas near the eastern margin of the park.
Tracks are not well marked and not too many trees to provide shade either but nice view when you get to the top.
Majestic a quick getaway from Suburban Living, with the tree covered hills. Great family and fur family friendly. Brilliant little tracks and plenty of open space. Only thing I'd recommend, go have a look on a nice day when it's not raining
Been coming here since i was little and everyday for the past 3 years always a confortable climb, walk, hike. Plenty of wildlife to observe and views to be seen.
Views were beautiful as the climb is quite steep for a lot of the hike, but a pity I came on a cloudy/rainy day so it was all quite dreary.
But hard to find the track coming in from the carpark on Maryvale rd, but Parks staff very helpful. Best to come in from Addison rd. Wildflower garden in full bloom so lots of lovely scents. Relatively easy walking. Keen to explore more and come in from Morialta side next time.
Stunning Australian Beauty. Rugged and untamed, yet found right beside a state capitol city - Adelaide. If hiking through here then take plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen. Can see a host of Australian animals here on a good day.
Love it! Because it's still (relatively) undisturbed beautiful native bushland, gorgeous big old xanthorrhoea's up on rocky outcrops.
Beautiful scenery and incredible trails throughout the park. The perfect balance of a challenge and rewards.
Decent local park. Reasonable range of walks and quite a bit of wildlife. Some of the walks are quite rough in sections which adds to the enjoyment. There are a few little side tracks which usually contain surprises. It's disappointing to see the remnants of what this place used to be like as it's left to break down. Wildflower garden as one example which is just some poorly maintained trails around many dead and dying plants. What a waste. Watch out if the have a running or orienteering event on as they say no heed to others and you can tell for sometime after they have been through by the trail damage they cause.
Quickest course to the summit is up the right track from the Addison Ave entrance. The straight ahead track traverses gullies and hillsides. Then there is the summit climb which is steep and testing. At the end go right to the trig point or left to a trail through Ghost Gum Valley and back to the start.
Black Hill Conservation Park is an excellent place to go hiking with lots of tracks from the beginner through to the more experienced who like a challenge of a steep climb.
With a beautiful setting of typical Australian hills bush land and wildlife to enjoy and capture if you enjoy taking photos!
Amazing trails with great views and beautiful wildlife. Saw a koala and mobs of kangaroos! There are opportunities to volunteer with Friends of Blackhill to help remove the olive trees from infiltrating the ecosystem of native bush plants and trees in the area. The birds and other animals are reliant on the native trees for their habitat.
By far my favorite park in SA. Great trails got it all, some steep some easy, single track and wide track. Great views of Adelaide and plenty of kangaroos. Not too hard to get to the summit and magic place to be during/after sunset
Awesome park for a challenging hike. Really got my heart pumping. Another lovely walk in the Adelaide Hills
