Found this place on the way to Victoria from SA! Got kuetiaw goreng and chicken martabak and they were good but weren’t spicy. Make sure you ask the owner/chef if you want your food to be hot!

I can’t believe the reviews as this place is not worth even one star.
Firstly, it’s filthy! Vinyl table covering, menu’s and particularly the floor, covered in grease and your shoes stick as you walk, you can hear every step! Alarm bells!
Tom Yum noodles was heavily loaded with spaghetti… yuck! Tom Yum rice was a dirty looking fried rice with a few peas, corn and carrot, certainly not fresh. The roti canai was at least home made he said, but the fat it was cooked in tasted rancid and the accompanying Dahl dip was just split dried peas cooked to paste, no flavourings of spice, garlic, onion etc at all. The whole thing was putrid. We paid for it, but also told him it was not good enough, which we have never done before. Every kitchen can have an off day, but this is long term filth and neglect.
I have never left a negative review of a restaurant before as peoples livelihoods may be affected, I’d rather say nothing. This was just too awful and I write as a warning. A pleasant enough fellow there, but no sign of the woman featured on their website.
Note to self, trust your gut and walk away.

Stopped at Bordertown overnight on a trip from Melbourne to Victor Harbour. Chose this quaint little restaurant to have dinner and what a find!
The food was delicious, the price was very reasonable and the staff delightful.

I would highly recommend Belacan Bordertown for anyone looking for authentic Malaysian dishes and on a road trip between Adelaide and Melbourne. We’ve been there twice now and on both occasions just drove (from Adelaide) just to eat!
You will see the familiar nasi goreng pattaya, nasi goreng daging merah, mee goreng, milo dinosaur, teh tarik just like everywhere in Malaysia. Roti canai is also available on weekends only. Their special belacan sauce adds the best kick to each dish and is served on the side so you can add as little or as much as you like.

Their latest menu is an excellent version of the famous Burger Ramly which they call Ramlah Burger and its juicy double beef patties, egg and sauces takes the cake for a well grilled messy burger anyday.
The family running the business are extremely friendly and even stock up the back of their store with some groceries and frozen items including curry puffs. I was very excited to finally get some Bbq flavoured twisties too!

Well worth the trip, thumbs up to Belacan!

What a treat! It's a long drive from Melbourne to Adelaide! But stopping here for lunch was great!

The Bandung was refreshing and Nasi Lemak Ayam was fantastic! Super crispy chicken, and staff was very friendly.

Hope to be back soon!

Lunch at Belacan restaurant in Bordertown: good Malay food, friendly owners, and good value. Great spot for lunch on the way to Melbourne by car ️.
.
Nasi goreng with fried chicken, and Nasi goreng with prawns. Nicely done! The fried chicken was super crunchy! Really loved it.

We were delighted to find this little gem open for business on Sunday night. Delicous food. Best lemon tea outside Malaysia and a wide choice of other interesting drinks. Cheerful service and very affordable. Lovely to see a great alternative to the usual fare. Good luck to the owners and may they be well supported by the travelling public.

Fantastic! So glad I decided to find a meal in town instead of standard hwy food. Delicious Malaysian food and cheap too (my favourite combination). I'm sure most locals know it well, so if your driving through do yourself a favour and stop here. I am frustrated that I had not found this sooner. Will now be a regular when driving Vic-SA.

I gave 4 stars for the authenticity of the food. They opened in August 2020. Really brings me back to Malaysia. The staff even speaks malay which is music to our ears. It’s really a good place if you’re looking for wholesome, freshly prepared and filling lunch/dinner. Each dish is delicious and tasty. Of course we will come back! 4 hours drive from Adelaide.
