The staff and facilities in this hospital deserve more than 5 stars! Every single person we came into contact with were absolutely amazing and their happiness at work shows through their smiles. Thank you for making my Dads stay for lung cancer so much better than we expected. You generosity and warmth will never be forgotten.

My wife and I have stayed here twice for caesarian birth. The midwives were wonderful in supporting us throughout the stay. The food was well prepared and the menu was quite diverse and healthy, although the final packaging, presentation and smell is a bit "airplaney".

Dinner was delivered before 6: 00 p.m. And Hudson's closed at midday on many of the days we were there, so there were no late night food options aside from crossing the road to KFC or Hungry Jack's. I would suggest even a basic vending machine at the hospital for 24 hour snacks would be good.

Security is a little bit lapse with no locks or swipe cards required to walk all the way from the street through the main entrance, up the lift, into the maternity ward and then into anyone's room where the babys are. The front desk of the ward is not always staffed and the staff do not often look up to see who is walking past. It would be good to at least have some security guards monitoring the ward entrance and exit at all times.

Another thing that is missing is a nice outdoor green space within the hospital. It would be nice to be able to grab some quick fresh air and sunlight without having to walk out to the street.

In for a total hip replacement, can only describe the experience as first class. Excellent knowledgeable staff, friendly and genuinely caring, nothing was too difficult. Food - you would think you were in a restaurant- not a hospital. Fab overall experience- highly recommended.

I paid to Dr. Tan and booked today’s appointment, came here for surgery, took day off, now I don’t know why Dr. Tan cancelled my appointment so I was asking at reception at hospital and she is like you are about to raise your voice, she threaten me, she call manager and manager is like no we can’t give you her name you can lodge complaint if you want.
Thanks for stealing my hard working money and also threatening me.

For those nursing students thinking about applying to Ashford’s graduate program, please be mindful of your choices. I did my graduate program over there two years ago. There are specific wards that would give graduate nurses unsafe patient load and medically unstable patients. Work place bullying do exist in those wards.

Friendly, thorough and professional service from all staff. Also a big thank you to Prof. Sanders for my successful heart ablation.

I have spent a few visits here, good nurses, clean, but the food is spectacular in its utter dreadfullness. Inedible, surely its more expensive than a 6 star hotel, they could make the food edible. 3 stars for small, decent hospital. No stars for food.

My mother was admitted to Ashford on Tuesday after urgent request by specialist. The admission process was seamless and friendly. The nursing staff in the cardiac ward are very caring and patient with older people. Mum has a lovely room and is enjoying her care and finds the food delicious.

The first thing most people feel before a surgery is anxiety and fear and afterwards a little relief and some pain. I was definitely feeling this on the way to Ashford today. Well I can honestly say that from the moment you arrive at Ashford Hospital you are looked after by incredibly professional staff from the receptionist to the attending nurses. I would like to mention Rosemarie in my ward. I was touched by her car and professionalism and not mention her amazing bedside manner

I found Ashford hospital to be clean, as comfortable as possible, and it was also quite spacious. I found all staff to be friendly and attentive.

Great hospital with lovely nurses! My wife had surgery here this year and took really good care of her. I was impressed with the food that they served! During her stay she had 3 different nurses and they were all really nice. The rooms were pretty standard but still good. Would recommend.

Rooms: B+
Nursing Staff: A+
Food: A

One of the worst experiences of my life. I believe they are good for treating illness and for planned surgeries, but DO NOT recommend for an injury - keep driving to public hospital. No doctors are hired directly by the hospital, they are all contractors/consultants and are a law unto themselves. You’re simply allocated to them when admitted via emergency and it’s a roll of the dice as to who you get - they will likely be a general practitioner and not a specialist in your area of injury. Only hospital I’ve ever been in where I was handed multiple strong opioids and not watched to swallow them - gives a bit of insight into what you’re in for! Unfortunately half their nursing staff is completely unhelpful and disinterested and I feel very sorry for the other half of nurses here who are great at their job. Food isn’t half bad but was the same as local public hospital (Flinders). Would crawl on my hands and knees to the nearest alternative if ever faced with going back.

Nobody wants to go to hospital but if you have to, then Ashford is awesome. Lovely staff and I was very well taken care of.

On 1st November I underwent a double bypass surgery and was soo pleased with my experience - it was the best experience ive ever had after being to different hospitals multiple times. Every doctor and nurse were soo lovely, especially heart surgeon dr Edwards and ward doctor Mushtaq and the compassionate and friendly nurses Holly from CCU, Sophie, June, Megan, Veronica, Catherine, Di and especially Phil. All staff and physio's went above and beyond. Having such wonderful staff really supported my fast recovery and made all the difference to my experience. The food was delicious and plated up like a 5 star restaurant.
Thank you - Stan Przybylek

I have never been treated so well, with the amount of care and empathy that all the nurses and doctors showed me. I will never use a public hospital again!
Nothing was to small or to large for the medical staff to do for me. I believe that places like the RAH or my local hospital in Maitland could learn a lot from the Ashford Hospital medical staff to improve their game which is very low.

My wife had knee replacement surgery at this hospital. The surgeon was great, the operation was a success and 3 of the nurses were fantastic. This review is about the hospital staff and the general experience. My wife is allergic to mushrooms, she clearly indicated this on her meal menu you are given at admission. Her first meal post surgery that this menu pertained to had mushrooms. When my wife asked about a diabetic menu, she was advised that there are no diabetic menus and patients have to make their own choices from the non diabetic menu. That is great except, the food was pretty low quality for a private hospital, with high amounts of sugar and at fat. Dessert was full sugar jelly, the meals are so small that if you don't eat what they give you go hungry. I wanted to take my wife out for some fresh air and asked for a wheelchair. I was told that I had to order that through the ward clerk. I went to the 'Unley Ward' clerk and asked for a wheelchair. There were a few at the end of the corridor and offered to grab one of those. "No, we will bring one to you. " No wheelchair arrived, they were not busy by any means. Remember this is a high priced private hospital, and there were wheelchairs to spare. The patient service here was atrocious when compared to St Andrews Private, Flinders Private or Memorial Hospital. All three hospitals were have experience with. The kicker to all this was discharge day. A nurse who would be better suited to working in an army camp, handled the discharge. Abrupt, would be an understatement for this one. So we left the hospital, and about an hour after getting home, I got a phone call from the Sargent Major. "You told your wife that you collected all of her medication that was in a black bag" Ok, I responded. "Well you didn't and I have it my hand! " So back to the hospital, a one hour drive to pick up the drugs. Speaking of medication, my wife was told by one of the nurses to get her pain medication from home, so she didn't use theirs. My opinion of this hospital is that they are very keen on money and cost savings. Customer service is not that much of a concern, and as a private business you would think that it would be. My wife has been completed a survey and requested to be contacted, about her stay. So far nobody has contacted her, about a week and half later. My advise would be to ask your surgeon where they operate, and if Ashford is in the list give it a wide berth and go somewhere else.

ED TO BE AVOIDED! VINDICTIVE CONSULTANTS.

After collapsing on crutches in ED reception with a herniated disc in my back I was told that 'I was not allowed to lie there' (reception floor)!

I initially received some good treatment from nurses and drs after paying my attending fee.

Once it was clear that my healthcare didn't cover neurological treatment required, the new Dr in charge, Shane Goodyear did not even speak to me. I writhed on the bed for hours without adequate pain relief.

At one point he made a point of saying loudly, 'He can lie there all night or get up and get a cab out of here'. I was completely incapable of walking or sitting and had collapsed twice that day in front of his staff.

An appalling lack of care and professionalism. I've spent money on MRIs and procedures with Ashford. No more.

I was grateful for the kindness of the ambulance crew and a transfer to Flinders.a proper hospital.

Wonderful experience with Ashford Hospital. The services that we receive from them is excellent. My wife had surgery operation with Dr. Fariba “who is one of the best, kind and expert in Australia medical system” we had similar and great experience with nurses and crews in hospital as well. They are all very kind, reliable and friendly people.
I would have no qualms in recommending this Hospital to friends.
