Appleseed Cafe reviews
28We had an enjoyable lunch here today - Confit Duck with Thai basil, sprouts, beans, tomatoes, kimchi, cherries, crispy wanton and nuoc cham dressing - Oh what a treat! They really made an effort. Great service as well from Gemma, Tayla and staff. Will definitely come again. Love these specials!
Delicious Thai Confit Duck with wontons, kimchi and nuoc Cham dressing!
This cafe continues to offer a great menu with exceptional specials and great value for money. We love the opportunity to enjoy really different dishes, or go back to favourites. Their coffee and cakes are also delicious. Beats other options in Strathalbyn hands down!
We looked up for a good coffee & were directed here. Very grateful as it was superb.
Coffee, top notch. Berry muffin slightly warmed, fantastic. Little tub of cream. It was real cream, not fake and I was in heaven.
Thank you to previous recommendations as we really loved our little visit.
Low rating on food as over 50% of the meat in the curry was pure fat. I don't mind a little, but that amount is unacceptable. Please trim in future!
We enjoyed an all-round wonderful experience at the Appleseed cafe!
Thankyou to the friendly staff for the tasty food.
Definitely coming back soon!
I had coffee, peach almond cheesecake, and scones. The coffee was delicious, the cakes were delicious, and the staff was friendly. The inside was also nice and clean.
We asked for extra hot coffee and a chocolate drink and received luke warm refreshments. We asked for both to be reheated. When the coffee and chocolate was returned there was no sorry or apology. It made us feel unwanted.
Best coffee in town! Friendly staff and a good variety of food and snacks on offer at reasonable prices. Much of the food is sourced locally.
The venue is accessible for wheelchairs via the side door. There are options to sit outside (front and rear of the cafe) and also a large indoor area at the rear of the cafe which would suit groups of around 20 people.
The owner Gemma is very supportive of local artists and there is a variety of work available for sale (photos and paintings etc).
Also, the toilets are kept clean at all times - the best I've seen anywhere.
We found this place by googling gluten free Strathalbyn and were attracted by the hundreds of good reviews. And it didn’t disappoint. Insanely delicious meals and great coffee. We had the zucchini and halloumi fritters (GF) which oozed with cheese and the shepherds pie (GF) with big chunks of lamb. Highly recommend.
Ordered prawn risotto, chicken wrap, apple crumble and juices. Fresh & delicious. Portion is good. Service is friendly, quick & impeccable.
The staff are amazing. The food is awesome. There is a good range on the menu. The dining area at the back can be noisy.
Great food, strong but rather cool coffee, excellent staff and a lovely place to chill out
Today was my first visit to Appleseed Cafe, I was really impressed! It's a lovely, comfortable cafe with friendly service and yummy food. I had the chicken quesadilla, it was vibrant, delicious and a good sized portion.
Great Cafe for breakfast or lunch. We had eggs and bacon on toast, eggs Benedict, tea and coffee. All were top notch and despite being a busy Sunday morning, food and drinks arrived in under 10mins and were excellent. Happy, professional service and clean throughout. Seating inside and out. Will definitely go here again when next in Strathalbyn. Some interesting shops nearby and a small open market 50m away on Sundays.
We recently moved to the area and are glad we found The Appleseed Cafe. Gemma, Tayla and all the other staff are patient and kind. It can get busy but the staff have a way of getting the food and drinks out on time. The food is exceptional. Their Chef is brilliant. We had the "special" which was a chicken burrito bowl. Beautifully done. A fantastic lunch. Coffee is great.lots of good flavour. Deserts to die for! Special thanks to Gemma and Tayla for always making us feel welcome.
For a cute little country town it was surprisingly very good. I would recommend Appleseed.
What a hidden gem. Fantastic food, fabulous cheerful service and a menu that left us spoilt for choice. My only criticism is it’s location. I wish it was in Victor Harbor so we could visit every week, at least!
Pleasantly surprised to find this place whilst driving through, the food was fresh and delicious. The Soba Noodle Bowl Vegan option was amazing!
After being a regular customers over the years, we returned today to try it out after the new owners took over. We won’t return. We ordered a ham cheese & tomato croissant, among other things. It was the stingiest, most miserable serve I have ever seen. Size of the croissant was decent, but when I opened it to add pepper, there was a tiny bit of melted cheese on the base, topped with no more than a half a slice of sandwich ham torn into 3 little morsels, and topped with 3 thin slices of tomato. It was dry and crunchy to eat with no taste whatsoever. Coffee was the only enjoyable part of our lunch.
Prompt professional and friendly service underpinned by fresh, aesthetically pleasing and mouth-watering delights. Will definitely be returning to savour more of the menu
