Angler Stirling reviews
65The best service! Fast & Very friendly & most important Yummy food! Definitely made with love and pride! Love how the team is so knowledgeable and have such passion about the food! It’s so clean I honestly can’t say anything bad about this place, the food is amazing and such a cool twist on ya normal fish n chips! Not to mention the prices are just as good as the food! Would keep going back for more, you definitely don’t feel bad about eating it afterwards! As it’s not your typical greasy takeaway. Love it and will always go here! Just amazing. The vibe is amazing as well I love how there’s music going and love how they make pretty much every single thing in the shop themselves. I totally recommend this place 100%
We had take away. Wood fired grilled Tommy ruff and a fish Burgher and chips. Extremely disappointing. At the price it was nothing special and the chips were almost burnt.
We decided not to go there again.
Angler had been on my Adelaide Hills to try list for some time. We were hungry at 3pm and Angler conveniently stays open all afternoon so we stopped in. As expected fantastic seafood. We had great service. They have a small wine list that should suit most people. Definitely try the snapper cheeseburger!
Personally I think this experience could have been VASTLY improved, had I subsequently been raised up into heaven after finishing dessert.
In terms of seafood, the best I’ve had. In terms of food, also the best I’ve had.
The chef should be wildly commended for his ability to masterfully craft dishes that let the ingredients shine.
Go here and trust the chef.
Fine dining quality, fish N chips price, kind and friendly staff! Big thumb up to Angler. A must-try restaurant in Stirling!
Chef Sam is always warm and welcoming and takes the time to answer questions about the source of produce. Love the care, thought and attention he puts into pairing the food with wines on the list. Attention to detail is second to none. We are very lucky to have the calibre of food and service so close to home. Do yourself a favour and drop in for a great seafood meal.
The service was outstanding, awesome atmosphere inside and a well set out place to eat. The seafood is out of this world, you can tell that the chef/chefs take pride in delivering proper seafood sourced ethically in a way I have seen no other seafood restaurant do before. The fish dry aging and the wood-fire add a great aspect. Can’t say anything else but chef knows how to cook.
They also offer pre-made meals and condiments which look awesome!
Only negative I had was the wood chopsticks drew some flavour from the sashimi, maybe a washable stainless alternative.
Chips was lousy because cooked in old oil along with same oil cooked fish, flies everywhere perhaps locals different treatment ($ 46 for 2 pieces of fish & small portions of chips) ?
I was looking forward to coming to eat here, but sadly I was disappointed. My partner started with 3 oysters which he loved as they were beautifully fresh, then we shared the woodfire fish which was the disappointment as I was expecting a smoky flavour which there wasn't and there was no seasoning, so unfortunately it was a bland plate of food and also the mussels were raw with one not even opened. The chips were tasty but once again lacking seasoning. The saving grace was the heirloom tomato and watermelon salad with fresh herbs, absolutely perfect on such a hot day. Nevertheless we will be going back to try their fish and chips as the staff/chef were wonderful and made us feel very welcomed.
Sam at Angler Stirling has created the perfect environment for sustainable and ethical seafood with great options whether you dine or take home. He has mastered dry aging scale fish. Just a great ask and they will be more than happy to help you guide you through their seafood and introduce you to the fisherperson who caught the fish.
Wonderful seafood sit down meal to close out our wine trip holiday. BBQ prawns were delicious and the cosy favourite double fried chips were yum! Thanks!
Spectacular. Fish of the day was barramundi, generous serve with hand cut chips and house made seasoning. Incredibly fast service, lovely open kitchen giving access to the chefs and the open fire. Restaurant was full on a Thursday night with people enjoying the ambiance - this was my second time visiting and will be back asap!
My husband really enjoyed his fish burger and the fish and chips I had were very tasty! An impromptu lunch that turned into a highlight - thank you! Chips are also worth going back for
What a great place! We had fish and chips and wood fired kingfish with a salad. All very fresh and delicious, and generous serves. The chips were the nicest we have eaten! We finished off dinner with an innovative artichoke mousse, again delicious, which complemented our main courses really well. The service was very friendly and helpful. Angler has beautiful timber tables and detailing throughout. We are looking forward to our next holiday in Stirling and will definitely return to Angler.
Experience: Everything was absolutely gorgeous! The food was visually beautiful, every dish had careful precision and thought. The taste was clean, simple and delicious. The dry aged sashimi with its blood orange puree and vinaigrette was stunning: buttery, then sweet, and slightly bitter and sour from the blood orange along with the fragrance of mint. Amazing! Also, highly suggest the ‘trust the chef’ option but there’s no room to write more. Both the staff and the chef were so friendly and hospitable and the service was awesome.
What to expect: If you’re looking for a generic restaurant experience this is far from it. But if you’re looking to eat something where every single element is thoughtfully made, ethically sourced, and dare I say carefully crafted, this is the place. The chef is directly connected to the fishermen and the chain of supply is so direct, everything is fresh and hand picked. This is something everyone should occasionally break routine to experience.
And yup, it means you have to a pay pretty penny (I mean its more than the average restaurant but the prices aren’t unreasonable) but you’ll certainly get what you pay for and you’ll be supporting true craftsmanship in the field of cooking.
Thank you to the chef and the our waitress today. You were amazing!
Horrible service after the recent soft open. Woman with the blue hair stood staring at the till for over 5 minutes while I stood in front of her wanting to ask a quick question about the menu. Eventually just walked out. Angler Stirling used to be one of my favourite places to eat, but it's gone in a very different direction. Take your money elsewhere.
We used our great state voucher at Angler and what a fantastic experience. It is awesome to meet people who are so passionate about what they do and want to share what they have learnt with as many people as possible. The countless courses were amazing, I usually don't eat raw fish, but dry aged fish is now my new favourite thing. Fresh, sustainable fish, a wood oven and a dry ager are an unexpectedly awesome combination. You can tell that this place will be one of those not so hidden gems soon.
We ordered banko crumble, woodfired and fish steak! Fresh and tasty. Friendly service as well:)
By far the best fish and chips in Adelaide and the seafood is all sustainably sourced! I asked and they use an extensive process to make their fries extra crispy!
Fish & chips at Tasting Australia.
Overall? It was good. Not worth $35 though!
There was nothing special about it to justify $35.
